The organising authority is Qld Hobie Cat Associations in conjunction with the Australian National Hobie Cat Association Inc. 1. RACING RULES The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions and special regulations of Yachting Australia (YA) and the Class Rules of the International Hobie Class Association (IHCA), this Notice of Race (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions), and the Sailing Instructions. If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence 2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY The regatta is open to all class legal Hobie 16, 17, 18, Hobie Tiger and Hobie Wildcat of the International Hobie Class Association. 2.1 A minimum of 5 entries is required to form a class. If sufficient entries for a class are not received by Monday 14 th November 2011, the Organising Authority reserves the right to cancel racing or make other arrangements for the class concerned 2.2 The skipper shall be a financial member of the International Hobie Class Association or a National fleet, which is financial with the International Hobie Class Association and is affiliated with a State or National Yachting Authority. 2.3 The skipper shall be a member of a yacht club affiliated with its National Authority. 2.4 The Hobie 16 National Youth Championships will be conducted without spinnakers. 2.5 Eligible boats may enter by completing the Official on line Entry Form and submitting through the website a valid and paid entry by Friday December 30th 2011 3. ALTERATIONS TO CLASS RULES The Class Rules of the IHCA will be altered as follows: 3.1 Maximum age for both the skipper and crew for the Youth Series, at the commencement of racing, will be 21. (Proof of age will be required). This alters IHCA Class Rules: General Rule 17.7 3.2 Minimum age for the Masters Series is 45 years (for the skipper only) at the commencement of racing. (Proof of age will be required). The age of crew members in the Masters Series is open. 3.3 GrandMasters will compete for the Fossil Cup. Minimum age for the GrandMasters Series is 55 years (for the skipper only) at the commencement of racing. (Proof of age will be required). The age of crew members in the GrandMasters Series is open. This alters IHCA Class Rule: General Rule: 17.8.b. 3.4 The results of the relevant Youth Classes at the Hogs Breath Cafe Hobie Cat Australasia 2011/12 Hobie Cat National Championships will be provided to Yachting Australia and used in the calculation of the point score for the Youth Sailing Grand Prix. In entering the Hogs Breath Cafe Hobie Cat Australasia 2011/12 Hobie Cat National Championships athletes agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions of the Youth Sailing Grand Prix. Details can be found on the Yachting Australia website at yachting.org.au/youth (For the purpose of the Youth Sailing Grand Prix, eligible athletes must be aged under 19 at the 31st December 2012). 4. ALTERATIONS TO RACING RULES The RRS will be altered as follows: 4.1 While racing and afloat all competitors shall wear adequate Yachting Australia recognised Australian Standards approved personal buoyancy as referred to in RRS AYF Addendum A Special Regulations Part 2 Off the Beach Boats Regulations R1 Personal Buoyancy, and shall observe YA recommendations 1, 2, 3 and 4 of

Addendum A. Wet suits and dry suits do not meet these standards. Flag Y will not be displayed before or with the warning signal. (This alters RRS 40) 4.2 A boat that may have broken a rule of Part 2 while racing may take a penalty at the time of the incident. Her penalty shall be one 360-degree turn penalty. (This alters RRS rules 44.1 and 44.2.) 5. ADVERTISING CATEGORY The regatta is classified as a Category C event in accordance with the ISAF Advertising Code. 5.1 Boats may be required to display sponsorship advertising, which is to be attached to the boats in accordance with instructions provided by the Organising Authority. 6. The race committee may hold up to 4 races per day for each class with some back to back races 7.2 The Youth series will be sailed over 4 days in conjunction with the Open event. This is to facilitate sailors wishing to participate in the ISAF youth trials to be held at RQYS, Manly, and which has an invitation race on Friday 6 th January. Results will be calculated and positions awarded on the basis of all races held up to an including Thursday 5 th January 2011. 8. MEASUREMENT Measurement is not required, but it is the responsibility of each skipper to ensure her/his boat complies with the IHCA class rules. Random measurement checks and inspections may be carried out at any time. A boat notified of inspection shall follow the instructions of the Race Committee. 9. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The Sailing Instructions will be available to competitors on completion of registration.

10. RACING AREA The racing area will be on the ocean waters off Mooloolaba in the vicinity and north of Mooloolaba Beach. Competitors please note, these are exposed ocean waters. 11. COURSES The course shall be standard IHCA class courses. 12. SCORING The Low Point scoring system, Appendix A.4.1 of the Racing Rules of Sailing as amended, will be used. 12.1 One (1) race is required to constitute a series. 12.2 When fewer than four (4) races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. 12.3 When four (4) to eleven (11) races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 12.4 When twelve (12) or more races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores. 13. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS A boat shall neither make radio transmission while racing nor receive radio communication not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 14. SUPPORT BOATS/COACHES Team Managers, Coaches and other support personnel shall keep 100m clear of the course area during racing, except in boats provided by the organising authority or when asked to assist by the Race Committee. 15. PRIZES Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Organising Committee 16. RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS In participating in an event, a competitor automatically grants to the Organising Authority and the sponsors of the event, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said event in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said event without compensation. 17. ENTRY DISCLAIMER It is the competitor's decision to enter an event or to start and continue in any race. Competitors shall accept that their participation in an event is at their exclusive risk in every respect. See RRS Rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority, and the respective host class association(s), their officers, members, servants and agents accept no liability in respect of loss of life, personal injury or loss or damage to property which may be sustained by reason of their participation or intended participation in an event or how so ever arising in connection with an event 18. INSURANCE All boats competing in the Australian Hobie National Championships shall have third party insurance cover of not less than AUD$5,000,000 (recommended AUD$10,000,000) or equivalent thereof in any other currency for any accident. All owners/competitors who sign the Entry Form are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover. Competitors may be required to produce evidence of such insurance and any competitor not holding this cover shall withdraw their entry. Adequate racing insurance is also recommended for this event.
