Game Release 21300 Redskin Park Drive Ashburn, VA 20147 703.726.7000 @Redskins www.redskins.com media.redskins.com PRESEASON - WEEK 3 WASHINGTON REDSKINS (2-0) at BALTIMORE RAVENS (2-0) Saturday, Aug. 23 7:30 p.m. ET M&T Bank Stadium (71,008) Baltimore, Md. Redskins make road debut at Baltimore on Saturday After opening the 2014 preseason with consecutive home tilts at FedExField, the Washington Redskins will make their first road appearance on Saturday when the team travels to face the Baltimore Ravens. Kickoff at M&T Bank Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. On Monday, the Redskins improved to 2-0 this preseason in dramatic fashion, defeating the Cleveland Browns, 24-23, at FedExField. Tied at 17, the teams traded touchdowns in the final few minutes, beginning with quarterback Colt McCoy s 30-yard touchdown strike to receiver Nick Williams with 2:01 remaining. The Browns responded with a 45-yard touchdown pass with no time remaining before the Redskins successfully defended a two-point conversion attempt to seal the victory. Saturday s extended rehearsal against the Ravens should provide another test for the Redskins, including the team s starting defense, which has forced three-and-outs on five of its six defensive possessions this preseason. On the other side of the ball, the Redskins offense will attempt to continue amassing yards at a torrid pace, as Washington s 408.0 yards gained per game through two weeks ranks first among all NFL teams this preseason. Game Release Formally organized in 1958, the Washington Redskins Alumni Association was the first organization of its kind in the country. The organization spearheaded the alumni movement among former professional football players and was the model for other alumni groups that later formed in all NFL cities. Now entering its 56th year, the Alumni Association continues to celebrate those who have contributed to more than eight decades of Redskins football dating back to the team s inception in 1932. The primary objectives of the Redskins Alumni are promoting a continuing interest in current and past players of the Washington Redskins, as well as promoting and fostering interest and funding for charitable purposes. With respect to the latter, the alumni conduct fundraising events to raise money that can be donated to charitable organizations or used in other ways to help improve the quality of life for youth in the Greater Washington community. Today, Redskins alumni continue to make their presence known throughout the community. As a very active chapter of the NFL Alumni Association, their motto is Caring for Kids. In addition to the numerous events and appearances Redskins Alumni participate in throughout the year, they hold two major fundraising events of their own the Redskins Alumni Charity Golf Classic, now in its 36th year, and the annual Washington Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon, now in its 53rd year. The alumni have an office at Redskins Park and can be reached at 703-726-7488. Since his arrival in Washington in December of 2009, President/General Manager Bruce Allen has made it a priority to build a bridge to the franchise s historic past. During the Redskins NFC East title-winning season in 2012, that mission came to the forefront as the team celebrated its 80th anniversary. This year, the Washington Redskins will be celebrating our 80th anniversary season. I m proud to be with the franchise in our nation s capital, one with such a rich tradition and gloried past on and off the field, Allen said in a July 2012 column filling in for Sports Illustrated s Peter King. The current Redskins players, coaches, fans and staff owe a big debt of gratitude to the people who have made the Redskins one of the flagship franchises in sports. Throughout the 2012 offseason, the Redskins traversed the Washington D.C./Maryland/Virginia area as part of the team s Thank You Tour, which brought players, coaches, alumni, cheerleaders, team officials and more to fans throughout the entire region to help celebrate the team s historic heritage. That heritage continues to be honored amongst the game s elite, as in August 2011, former Redskin great Chris Hanburger was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. He was presented by his son, Chris. Hanburger was voted into the Hall after being a nominee of the seniors committee. In all, he waited 28 years to be elected. Hanburger joined Darrell Green (2008), Art Monk (2008) and Russ Grimm (2010) to make four players who spent the majority of their careers with the Redskins to earn the honor in the past five years. In addition, former Redskins Bruce Smith (2009) and Deion Sanders (2011) have also been elected over that time. Hanburger said of his election to the Hall of Fame: It s wonderful, I m overwhelmed. It s just such a tremendous honor to even be nominated, let alone be voted in. You have to think about all of the men that played before I did, certainly the men that I played with and against, and then you look at the guys playing now. It s just a select few that make it in. I was fortunate to play with players on the Redskins defense that made it all work for me. ALUMNI CENTER On Friday, Aug. 22, the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins Alumni Association will host the 53 rd annual Welcome Home Luncheon at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. The annual event celebrates the burgundy and gold and kicks off each football season with Redskins players, coaches and alumni. The Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon is annually the only event where fans and corporate partners have the chance to spend time with the entire Redskins team. Each table is guaranteed at least one player or coach seated with the attendees. Proceeds from the event benefit the youth programs of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins Alumni Association. The Redskins used the 2013 event to honor its players for their contributions both on and off the field. Quarterback Robert Griffin III earned the 2012 Bobby Mitchell Offensive Player of the Year award, linebacker London Fletcher earned the 2012 Sam Huff Defensive Player of the Year award, and kicker Kai Forbath earned the 2012 Mark Moseley Player of the Year award. Additionally, the team handed out its annual Community Service Award, and former fullback Eric Kettani a Lieutenant in the Naval Reserves accepted the USAA Salute to Service Award. Winners from the 2013 season will be announced at the 2014 event. Also among the Redskins Alumni Association s premier events is the team s annual Homecoming celebration, which the Redskins hosted in 2013 during the team s Week 9 win against San Diego. Not including staff and coaches, former players in attendance at various events throughout the weekend accounted for more than 600 seasons of Redskins service, 98 Super Bowl appearances and 56 Super Bowl wins. The team welcomed back 32 of the 80 Greatest Redskins, 19 Ring of Fame members and six Pro Football Hall of Famers as part of the celebration. The team wore their throwback uniforms, a modern interpretation of the ones worn by the franchise during their first year in Washington in 1937, when rookie quarterback Sammy Baugh led the Redskins to their first world championship. This season s Homecoming Weekend is scheduled for the weekend leading up to the Redskins Oct. 19 date with the Tennessee Titans. On Friday, the Redskins will host their 53rd Annual Welcome Home Luncheon at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. The luncheon is annually the only event where fans and corporate partners have the chance to spend time with the entire Redskins team. Game Release Jay Gruden was named the 29th head coach of the Washington Redskins on January 9, 2014. Excluding interim coaches, Gruden, 46 at the time of his hiring, became the team s youngest head coaching hire since hiring eventual Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs at 40 years of age in 1981. He became the first Redskins coach hired directly from an offensive coordinator role on another team since Norv Turner in 1994. Before joining the Redskins, Gruden spent his previous three seasons as offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. In his tenure in Cincinnati, the Bengals averaged 10 wins a season, making three consecutive playoff appearances and earning an AFC North championship in 2013. Members of the Bengals offense accounted for seven Pro Bowl selections in his three seasons in Cincinnati. Gruden was tasked with the development of quarterback Andy Dalton, a 2011 second-round pick. In three seasons together, Gruden helped Dalton to a 30-18 regular season record as a starter (.625), as Dalton s 30 wins in that time frame ranked tied for fifth-most among NFL quarterbacks. Dalton s 80 passing touchdowns rank third-most in NFL history for a quarterback in his first three seasons, trailing only Dan Marino (98) and Peyton Manning (85). Prior to joining the Bengals, Gruden served two years with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League from 2009-10. In 2009, Gruden served as offensive coordinator under current Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett as the Tuskers compiled a 6-0 regular season record and earned a UFL championship game berth. In 2010, he assumed the roles of head coach and general manager and led the Tuskers to their second consecutive championship game appearance. Gruden coached for seven seasons (2002-08) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, earning a Super Bowl championship ring as an offensive assistant in 2002. There he worked under his brother, Jon, then the Bucs head coach, and current Redskins Executive Vice President/General Manager Bruce Allen, the Bucs general manager from 2004-08. Gruden helped guide the Buccaneers to the team s first league championship, a 48-21 victory in Super Bowl XXXVII. Gruden also ranks among the most outstanding players and coaches in the history of the Arena Football League, having won six combined league championships four as a quarterback and two as a head coach. Gruden played quarterback (2002-03) and served as head coach (2004-08) of the AFL s Orlando Predators, all while simultaneously working as an offensive assistant with the Buccaneers. In all, Gruden served as head coach of the Predators for nine seasons (1998-2001 and 2004-08), leading the Predators to four championship game appearances and two league titles as a coach. During a two-year hiatus from coaching the Predators in 2002-03, he returned to the playing field as Orlando s quarterback, leading the Predators to playoff appearances in both seasons. In his eight seasons as a player in the AFL, Gruden completed 1,673- of-2,775 passes (60.3 percent) for 21,578 yards with 398 touchdowns and 99 interceptions. In addition to his time with Orlando, he spent six seasons (1991-96) at quarterback for the Tampa Bay Storm, winning four AFL titles and being named MVP of ArenaBowl VII in 1993. He was also named the 1992 AFL Most Valuable Player and was honored with induction into the AFL Hall of Fame in 1999. Gruden played quarterback for four seasons for former Redskins draft pick Howard Schnellenberger at the University of Louisville (1985-88) and was a two-time team MVP. Gruden was born March 4, 1967 in Tiffin, Ohio. He and his wife, Sherry, have three sons J.J., Joey and Jack. Head Coach Jay Gruden Jay Gruden, 46, became the youngest head coach hired by the Redskins on a non-interim basis since the team hired 40-year-old Joe Gibbs in 1981. Game Release What They Said ABout Gruden s hire I m ecstatic for Jay. From the first time we met I ve been a Jay Gruden fan, and I m grateful for what he did for us, his work with a young quarterback and helping take us where we ve been, the last three seasons in the playoffs. I knew he might get this kind of opportunity, of course, so it s not a surprise, and I just wish him all the best. - Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis Coached with Gruden for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011-13 Jay s first year was my rookie year, and it was cool coming in together and growing and getting better. One thing that really helped make it smooth for me was that from the start, Jay was big on asking my input, what I m most comfortable with and any ideas I had. With Jay I had a very positive transition from college to the NFL. I feel fortunate to have had him as my only pro coordinator. He s helped me in a lot of ways. - Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton Coached by Gruden on the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011-13 I m really proud of my brother. He s worked extremely hard to get this opportunity. The Washington Redskins are one of the great NFL franchises. I fully expect him to make the most of this opportunity. - Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden Jay s brother, coached together with Tampa Bay from 2002-08 I think it was a great hire... The Grudens have a coaching history in that family. The dad worked with the 49ers, and I knew him, and then I know Jon. They re well-suited, they know the ins and outs of this, besides the X s and O s and all that. They know how to handle people, they know what comes with the job, the pressures and all. So I think they did their homework and came up with a guy that will be suited well for the town and for the organization and the football part of it. - Former Redskins General Manager Bobby Beathard, as told to ESPN 980 The Washington Redskins got it right Thursday in hiring Jay Gruden as their next head coach. - Jason Reid of The Washington Post in his Jan. 9 column On Jan. 9, 2014, Redskins President/General Manager Bruce Allen (right) introduced Jay Gruden as the 29th head coach in franchise history. There s a great history here for the Washington Redskins and there s a lot of pride here, Gruden said. They [fans] want a winner. They don t expect anything else. I called him and left a message. I said, Hey, congratulations for this wonderful opportunity that the Redskins have given you and that you re my pride and joy because you ve exemplified, more than any of my quarterbacks, perseverance, mental toughness, team above self and just plain stubbornness. He was my quarterback at Louisville in the first year where we went 2-9. He was my quarterback when we went [3-8] and in the third year we go [3-7-1]. Then for his senior year we go 8-3 and even at 8-3 we couldn t get a bowl yet He persevered and took the long trip. He didn t go up a smooth trail. He took a winding, hard trail to a head coaching job in the National Football League by being the best quarterback that ever was in Arena Football and being the best coach we ve ever had in Arena Football. So now he gets his due reward. - Former Coach Howard Schnellenberger Coached Gruden at Louisville from 1985-88 We are very excited for Jay to seize this incredible opportunity with the Washington Redskins. He was an exceptional player and coach in the AFL for many years and has been a tremendous ambassador for the sport of Arena Football. We are proud of all that Jay has been able to accomplish since he first stepped onto an AFL field in 1991 and we look forward to seeing him do great things in Washington for years to come. - Arena Football League Commissioner Jerry B. Game Release Quarterbacks The third season of the well-chronicled career of quarterback Robert Griffin III begins in 2014, as the electric young quarterback enters the season with a new support system in place that includes a former quarterback-turned-head coach in Jay Gruden and a familiar face in newly promoted Offensive Coordinator Sean McVay. Under the duo of Gruden and McVay, Griffin III will try to recapture the Pro Bowl form that helped him lead Washington to its first NFC East title in 13 years as a rookie in 2012. That season he established Redskins rookie records in pass completions (258), passing yards (3,200), passing touchdowns (20) and rushing yards by a quarterback (815), all while setting NFL records for rookie passer rating (102.4), lowest percentage of passes had intercepted for a rookie (1.27) and rushing yards by a rookie quarterback (815). Griffin III s productive first two seasons already have him on the cusp of breaking into the franchise s top 10 in most passing categories, as he currently sits 11th in team history in completions (532), 12th in passing yards (6,403) and 12th in passing touchdowns (36). Griffin III will once again be joined in the quarterback meeting room by Kirk Cousins, a fellow 2012 NFL Draft selection best known for his role in wins against Baltimore and Cleveland during the team s sevengame season-ending winning streak in 2012. Cousins started the final three games of the 2013 season and enters 2014 having seen action in eight career NFL games with four starts, completing 114-of-203 passes for 1,320 yards with eight touchdowns in those appearances. After wearing No. 12 for his first two NFL seasons, Cousins will wear No. 8 in 2014, returning to the number he wore in leading the Michigan State Spartans to 27 wins in three seasons as a starter. The quarterbacks are rounded out by free agent signing Colt McCoy, the senior statesman of the group at only 27 years of age. Now in his fifth NFL season, McCoy joins the Redskins with a winning pedigree developed at the collegiate level at Texas from 2006-09, where he temporarily set the record for the most career wins by a starting quarterback in NCAA history (45). At the time of his graduation, McCoy was the only quarterback in history to win at least 10 or more games in each of his four collegiate seasons. Running Backs New Running Backs Coach Randy Jordan inherits running backs that have powered a rushing attack that has been among the league s elite since 2012. The Redskins gained a league-high 4,873 rushing yards on 972 carries across the 2012-13 seasons, and Washington s 5.01 yards per carry average in the those two years marked the best two-year rushing average for the team in franchise history. The depth chart at running back is expected to once again feature Alfred Morris, the powerful Florida Atlantic product who went from a record-setting sixth-round surprise in 2012 to a Pro Bowler in 2013. In his debut rookie season two years ago, Morris broke Clinton Portis team record for rushing yards in a season with 1,613 and contributed to the highest rushing total by rookie teammates since the 1970 AFL- NFL merger (2,450). After compiling 1,275 rushing yards in 2013, Morris 2,888 rushing yards from his first two seasons rank ninth-most in NFL history among players in their first two years. Morris became only the 16th back in NFL history to reach 2,500 rushing yards in his first two seasons., joining illustrious company that includes five Pro Football Hall of Famers: Eric Dickerson (3,913), Earl Campbell (3,147), Barry Sanders (2,774), Curtis Martin (2,639) and Emmitt Smith (2,500). The group also features two fourth-year backs in Roy Helu, Jr., and Evan Royster, both selected by the Redskins in the 2011 NFL Draft. In their first three seasons, the two have played a combined 66 games in burgundy and gold and earned seven combined starts down the stretch of their rookie Positional Prospectus RB Alfred Morris, QB Robert Griffin III and FB Darrel Young year in 2011. In those seven starts, Helu, Jr. and Royster accounted for five 100-yard rushing performances. The team could potentially have explosive options at running back in the form of second-year back Chris Thompson and rookie sixth-round pick Lache Seastrunk. Thompson, an All-ACC standout at Florida State before being selected in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, appeared as a kick returner in the first four games of his rookie year with Washington in 2013 before missing the final 12 games of the season with a shoulder injury. The Redskins selected Seastrunk, a first-team All-Big 12 honoree from Baylor, in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft after he compiled 2,189 rushing yards with 18 rushing touchdowns in only 24 collegiate games. The group is also rounded out by rookie free agent Silas Redd, whose collegiate career included experience in pro-style offenses at Penn State and USC. Fullback Darrel Young has proven to be one of the unsung heroes of the Redskins attack in recent years both as a blocker and as a receiver. In addition to lead blocking for Washington s prolific running game, he has proven adept with the ball in his hands, tying a team record with three rushing touchdowns (including an overtime game-winner) vs. San Diego and scoring on a career-long 62-yard touchdown reception at Philadelphia last season. Behind Young at fullback is rookie free agent Stephen Campbell, whose start in the NFL came after attending the 2014 New York/New Jersey NFL Regional Combine and the Super Regional Combine in Detroit. Wide Receivers After a year away in Buffalo in 2013, Wide Receivers Coach Ike Hilliard returns to lead the Redskins receiving corps, a task he held in the same position during the team s 2012 NFC East championship season. Between free agent signings, existing young talent and promising rookies, Hilliard should return to a stocked arsenal. The group returns the league leader in receptions from a season ago in Pierre Garçon, who became the third player in NFL history to record at least five receptions in every game of a 16-game season en route to breaking Art Monk s single-season Redskins record with 113 receptions in 2013. Garçon was a bright spot for Washington during the season, amassing receptions but also continuing his ferocious blocking in contributing to the Redskins 2,164 rushing yards. The NFC East added yet another storyline in the 2014 offseason when Garçon received a new teammate, veteran playmaker DeSean Jackson, who joined the Redskins as a free agent after six seasons in Philadelphia. The explosive three-time Pro Bowler dons burgundy and gold for the first time this season after posting 17 total touchdowns covering 50 yards or more, the most in the NFL, since entering the league in 2008. Yet Jackson wasn t the only playmaking wide receiver the Redskins added in free 6 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles

Game Release Positional Prospectus (Cont.) agency, as the team signed Andre Roberts, who appeared in 62 of 64 possible games and accounted for more than 2,800 all-purpose yards in four years as an Arizona Cardinal from 2010-13. The new additions are joined by the longest-tenured Redskin on the roster, 13-year veteran Santana Moss, whose 571 career receptions with Washington rank third-most in team history. Also among the options in the passing game are Leonard Hankerson and Aldrick Robinson, two fourth-year members of Washington s 2011 draft class. Hankerson s big hands have accounted for 81 receptions with six receiving touchdowns in three seasons despite fighting injuries. Robinson is a downfield threat who led the Redskins with five receptions of 40-plus yards (four for touchdowns) across the 2012-13 seasons. Ryan Grant, a 2014 fifth-round pick from Tulane, has drawn praise from Gruden throughout the offseason for his route-running and reliable hands. Nick Williams, is in his second NFL season after going from a college free agent to playing five games for Washington last season. The wide receivers also include free agent Rashad Ross, and college free agents Lee Doss, Cody Hoffman and Rashad Lawrence. Tight End Wes Phillips assumed control of the Redskins tight ends in 2014 after former position coach Sean McVay slid into the offensive coordinator role. Phillips joined the Redskins with an eye on technique and a track record that includes mentoring Jason Witten during Phillips tenure in Dallas. Despite being limited by injury to only nine games and four starts in 2013, then-rookie Jordan Reed finished the season with 499 yards receiving on 45 catches (11.1 yards per reception), both Redskins rookie records for a tight end. The former third-round pick, who started as a quarterback at Florida before transitioning to tight end during his collegiate career, developed into a matchup nightmare for opponents, none more so than the Chicago Bears, against whom Reed set career highs in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (134) in a win last season. His production is matched by his work ethic, as Reed is frequently noted by reporters to be one of the last players off the practice field, frequently staying after sessions to run routes and catch extra passes. Former college free agent Logan Paulsen is five years removed from trying to make a name for himself in training camp out of UCLA but has become a jack-of-all-trades for the unit in his four seasons in Washington. Paulsen has played in 59 games in Washington, made 30 starts, increased his receptions numbers in every season, scored in a postseason T Trent Williams game and been a crucial contributor on special teams. Niles Paul enters his fourth NFL season in 2014, his third at tight end after transitioning from wide receiver after his rookie year. Paul has caught 14 career passes but has truly made his impact on special teams, where he has contributed not only as a primary kick returner but also as one of the most devastating gunners in the league in punt coverage. Paul is joined by rookie seventh-round pick Ted Bolser, a University of Indiana product Gruden called a war daddy in kickoff coverage. The group is rounded out by Mike Caussin, a local James Madison favorite who was added just prior to training camp, and mid-august signing Matt Veldman. Offensive Line The Redskins retained Offensive Line Coach Chris Foerster from its previous coaching staff after the respected coach helped Washington become one of only four NFL teams to exceed 2,100 rushing yards in each of the last two seasons (Seattle, San Francisco and Buffalo). With Foerster s lines paving the way, the Redskins averaged 5.01 yards per carry average across the 2012-13 seasons, marking the best two-year rushing average for the team in franchise history and representing the first time the team has gained better than five yards per carry in a two-year span. This season, Foerster will be assisted on staff by Shane Day. Discussion of the Redskins offensive line begins at left tackle, where fifth-year vet Trent Williams, a returning team captain who has blossomed into one of the league s elite left tackles. Williams earned Pro Bowl berths in both seasons in which he s started all 16 games (2012 and 2013), Between Williams and former team great Chris Samuels, Redskins left tackles have been selected to six of the last nine Pro Bowls. The incumbent across the line at right tackle is Tyler Polumbus, who signed with Washington in the middle of the 2011 season and has started 35 games for the Redskins in the two-plus seasons since. The line has a new anchor at center but it comes from a familiar face. Kory Lichtensteiger will snap the ball this season after starting 51 of his 53 games played in Washington since 2010 at left guard. On his right hip is expected to be Chris Chester, who has started all 48 of Washington s regular season games at right guard since joining the team as a free agent prior to the 2011 campaign. At left guard, the team could rely on 2014 free agent signing Shawn Lauvao, who started 44 games for the Cleveland Browns across the previous four seasons. The preseason will offer another opportunity for a couple of young players on the offensive line to assert themselves and earn increased roles. Tom Compton, a 2012 sixth-round pick, played on special teams a season ago and can contribute at tackle when called upon. Guard Josh LeRibeus, a fellow 2012 draftee, was inactive for 16 games in 2013 but will try to regain and improve upon the form that earned him significant action in Washington s 2012 NFC Wild Card game. The third member of that class of offensive linemen drafted by Washington in 2012 is Adam Gettis, an interior lineman who contributed in 13 contests in 2013. The unit hopes to be bolstered by the addition of two third-round rookies. The Redskins selected tackle Morgan Moses with their first selection of the third round, adding a University of Virginia product whose length will be an asset as he transitions between both the left and right tackle spots. The team also used a third-round pick to select guard Spencer Long, a former Nebraska walk-on who earned a scholarship and impressed with both his performance on the field and in the classroom, becoming a CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-American in 2013. Seventh-year veteran center/guard Mike McGlynn, fourth-year lineman Maurice Hurt, third-year free agent center Kevin Kowalski and returning practice squad guard Tevita Stevens comprise the rest of an offensive line that will anchor Gruden s new offense in 2014. 7 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles

Game Release Positional Prospectus (Cont.) Defensive Line Jacob Burney will steer the defensive line as the unit s coach for a fifth consecutive season, helping guide a group of proven contributors and a key free agent addition. Washington s line helped the Redskins allow the fifth-fewest rushing yards in the NFC and ninth-fewest in the NFL across the 2012-13 seasons (103.2 yards per game). Washington s base three-man line centers around the man in the middle, nose tackle Barry Cofield. The returning two-time defensive captain has been an unsung hero in Washington, frequently drawing praise from the Redskins coaching staff as one of the most underrated nose tackles in the NFL. Cofield enters his fourth season in Washington after having started in all 48 of the Redskins regular season games since joining the team prior to 2011. The Redskins defensive line made a big splash early in free agency, pulling Jason Hatcher away from the division rival Cowboys in mid- March. The ninth-year veteran joins Washington following a career year in which he recorded a career-best 11 sacks en route to his first Pro Bowl selection. Hatcher reunites with his best friend, Stephen Bowen, a ninthyear defensive end returning from injury with whom Hatcher played in Dallas from 2006-10. They help form a veteran core with Kedric Golston, a ninth-year defensive end who has spent his entire career in Washington since being selected in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. The group also features a couple of young yet established linemen, among them fourth-year defensive end Jarvis Jenkins, fourth-year nose tackle Chris Neild and third-year lineman Chris Baker, all of whom have seen significant rotational snaps (and starts, in the case of Jenkins and Baker) throughout the last several seasons. Veteran free agent defensive ends Clifton Geathers and Frank Kearse, camp signing Jake McDonough and college free agent nose tackle Robert Thomas and defensive end Jeremy Towns represent the other three names on the team s 13-deep roster of linemen entering the 2014 preseason. Linebackers Storylines abound for Washington s linebackers, where one familiar name in particular has disappeared from the middle but a surplus of pass rushers awaits for Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett. The inside linebackers also benefit from the presence of Will Compton and Jeremy Kimbrough, two 2013 college free agents who both impressed the coaching staff as rookies a year ago. Compton made his NFL debut in Week 17 last year, and Kimbrough spent the season on injured reserve after suffering an injury in the team s first preseason game in 2013. Outside Linebackers The Redskins identified their pass rush for improvement in 2014, and that focus was evident even in the process of hiring the coaching staff as Gruden brought in pass rush specialist Brian Baker to oversee the outside linebackers. Early in his tenure, Baker has earned rave reviews from players and media for his attention to technique and helping to develop his Pro Bowl duo of pass rushers and his top pick at the position. Opposing offenses will once again have to account for the man known as Rak, Brian Orakpo, who returned to Washington on a franchise tag after making his third career Pro Bowl with a 10-sack season in 2013. Orakpo sits fifth all-time in sacks in Redskins history and sits 4.5 sacks away from sole possession of third place. He forms half of one of the league s top outside combinations with fourth-year veteran Ryan Kerrigan, a Pro Bowler from the 2012 season who has posted at least 7.5 sacks every season, posted 10 career forced fumbles, recorded two pick-sixes all despite rarely getting a defensive snap away from the field in 48 career games. Inside Linebackers The inside linebackers will fall under the purview of a familiar face, Kirk Olivadotti, who returns to the team with which he spent 11 NFL seasons in various capacities from 2000-10 after three years coaching inside linebackers at the University of Georgia from 2011-13. He is one of 11 members of the Redskins assistant coach honor roll, which recognizes coaches with at least 10 seasons of service as an assistant in Washington. Olivadotti and Redskins fans might do a double take early this season with the absence of the NFL s Iron Man at the Mike linebacker position, as four-time Pro Bowler London Fletcher hung up his cleats after 16 seasons of meritorious service. But the unit still features Jack linebacker Perry Riley, Jr., an athletic Fletcher disciple for four years who seldom leaves the field between his defensive and special teams responsibilities. One of the Redskins top options at middle linebacker may come from in-house, as coaches have continuously praised third-year linebacker Keenan Robinson throughout the 2014 offseason. The fluid University of Texas product fought injuries to each of his pectoral muscles in his first two NFL seasons and is battling with a bevy of 2014 free agent signings. Among the new additions is eighth-year veteran Akeem Jordan, a Harrisonburg, Va. native and former James Madison Duke. Also included is former Houston Texan Darryl Sharpton and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers special teams captain Adam Hayward. LB Brian Orakpo Orakpo and Kerrigan products of Texas and Purdue, respectively are now joined by yet another accomplished college pass rusher in Trent Murphy, whom the Redskins selected with their top selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. Murphy led the NCAA with 15 sacks as a senior in 2013 and offers Washington a pass rusher frequently commended for his bend despite his 6-foot-5 frame. The Redskins re-signed outside linebacker Rob Jackson, a sixth-year veteran who has reliably contributed in both starting and reserve roles over the past few seasons. The position is completed by Gabe Miller and Adrian Robinson, both of whom joined Washington late in the 2013 campaign, and Everette Brown, who signed with the team during its 2014 training camp on July 28. 8 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles

Game Release Positional Prospectus (Cont.) Defensive Backs The voice of Defensive Backs Coach Raheem Morris had been omnipresent on the Redskins practice fields across the 2012-13 seasons, and outside of the transition of Defensive Assistant Aubrey Pleasant, the sound remains the same in 2014. Morris guides a secondary that features cornerback DeAngelo Hall, who set a team record with three defensive touchdowns in 2013 in putting up one of his most impressive years in his 10th NFL season. I definitely think that if you put me out there against a receiver, anyone of them, I ll take my chances, Hall said in training camp of his desire to be considered among the NFL s top cornerbacks. I never said I was the best, but I definitely feel like I should be in the conversation. CB DeAngelo Hall Expected to start opposite Hall is second-year cornerback David Amerson, a 2013 second-round pick who announced his presence with a 45-yard interception return for touchdown in a Week 4 win at Oakland last season. The team also signed Super Bowl XLIV hero Tracy Porter, whose 74-yard interception return for touchdown against Peyton Manning helped earn him a championship ring following the 2009 season. Richard Crawford is once again added to the mix at cornerback after a knee injury in the preseason last year cost him the entire 2013 season. In his rookie year in 2012, he saw significant action as a returner and notched a Week 17 interception vs. Dallas. The unit added rookie Bashaud Breeland from Clemson in the 2014 NFL Draft, and Breeland immediately turned observers heads with an aggressive, physical style of play during offseason work. He is among the young cornerbacks the Redskins have acquired, including 2012 college free agent Chase Minnifield and rookie free agent Bryan Shepherd. The group also receives contributions from veteran E.J. Biggers, who has split time between cornerback and safety in his career. At safety, the Redskins welcome back 13th-year veteran Ryan Clark, the affable 2011 Pro Bowler who spent the 2004-05 seasons in Washington. Clark, who wears No. 21 in practice in honor of his friend, the late Sean Taylor, is expected to play alongside returning safety Brandon Meriweather, an eighth-year veteran who noted in training camp that even he was learning lessons from Clark s presence. The two will attempt to mentor a pair of second-year safeties who were thrust into the spotlight a season ago in Bacarri Rambo and Phillip Thomas. While Thomas 2013 season was cut short by an injury in the first preseason game, Rambo started three games for Washington in 2013 after being selected in the sixth round of that year s draft. Trenton Robinson joined the Redskins in the middle of the 2013 season to help buoy the team s kick coverage units and defense in 11 games. Akeem Davis, a rookie linebacker-turned-safety out of Memphis signed by Washington in April, will attempt to continue his roster push, as will Ross Madison, a rookie free agent who played his prep football 10 miles from Redskins Park at Heritage H.S. in Leesburg, Va. The unit also added safety Da Mon Cromartie-Smith, a former Pittsburgh Steeler, following the team s first preseason contest. Special Teams Washington s special teams are now being referenced internally as special forces, an apt term for a unit now being commanded by former Apache helicopter pilot and eight-year Army veteran Ben Kotwica. He and assistant Bradford Banta will oversee a unit that has been one of the primary focuses of the organization this offseason. Kotwica and Banta have even enlisted the help of several of the team s other position coaches during practices this offseason, illustrating the entire coaching staff s commitment to football s third phase. Kicker Kai Forbath returns in 2014, two years removed from a 2012 season in which he was signed by the Redskins in Week 6 and immediately set about rewriting league history. Forbath notably converted his first 17 career field goal attempts in 2012, breaking Garrett Hartley s NFL record for consecutive field goals made to start a career (16). The ball from Forbath s 17th consecutive made field goal to open his career now resides in Canton, Ohio, at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In May, the kicking competition began in earnest when the team made Arkansas Zach Hocker the first kicker drafted by Washington since taking Tennessee s John Hall in the sixth round of the 1999 NFL Draft. The Redskins also created competition at punter, recruiting two new faces in third-year player Robert Malone and first-year UCF product Blake Clingan. All kicking and punting units are expected to utilize the services of long snapper Nick Sundberg, now in his fifth season with the Redskins. Two of the team s most highly-anticipated position battles exist at the kick and punt returner positions. Crawford (see Defensive Backs ) became a key figure for Washington s special teams late in the 2012 season, totaling 156 yards on eight punt returns (19.5 avg.), and will attempt to regain that form after missing the 2013 season with an injury. Paul (see Tight Ends ) has a track record of kick returning that supplements his role as a punishing gunner in punt coverage. Thompson (see Running Backs ) returned for four games last season, but has attempted to rediscover the extra gear for which he was known at Florida State after battling injuries for the last several collegiate and professional seasons. Washington s commitment to improving its special teams may be most evident in its new additions. Roberts (see Wide Receivers ), who returned both kicks and punts for Arizona as a rookie in 2010, has expressed a desire to return both for the Redskins in 2014. Rookie Seastrunk (see Running Backs ) is hoping to translate the breakaway speed for which he was known at Baylor into Washington s return game. And, of course, Jackson (see Wide Receivers ) is responsible for one of the most infamous punt returns in recent history, a 65-yard game-winning touchdown in the Miracle of the New Meadowlands in 2010. In addition, the new additions of Hocker, Bolser (see Tight Ends ) and Hayward (see Inside Linebackers ) appeared to many to be a statement in the importance of kickoff coverage in 2014. 9 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles

Game Release The Opponent Head Coach John Harbaugh leads the Baltimore Ravens into the 2014 season following an 8-8 season in 2013, finishing third in the AFC North. Quarterback Joe Flacco is entering his seventh NFL season. In 2013, he completed 362-of-614 passes (59.0 percent) for 3,912 yards with 19 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. For the season, he posted a quarterback rating of 73.1. Running back Ray Rice has been Baltimore s leading rusher for each of the last five seasons (2009-13). In his six-year career, he has averaged 4.3 yards per carry and exceeded 1,000 rushing yards in four out of his six seasons. Last season, Rice posted team highs in rushing attempts (214), rushing yards (660) and rushing touchdowns (four). Running back Bernard Pierce added 436 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 152 carries. Receiver Torrey Smith returns after leading Baltimore in receptions last season with 65 for 1,128 yards and four touchdowns. The Ravens also added 14th-year veteran Steve Smith in the offseason after a year in which he contributed 745 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 64 receptions for the Carolina Panthers. Linebacker Daryl Smith led the Ravens in tackles a season ago with 123 (57 solo). Linebacker Terrell Suggs led the team with 10 sacks, followed closely by linebacker Elvis Dumervil (9.5). The secondary must replace former Ravens cornerback Corey Graham, who led the Ravens in interceptions a season ago before signing with the Buffalo Bills this offseason. Justin Tucker handles kicking duties for Baltimore and was 38-of-41 on field goal attempts last season (92.7 percent). Sam Koch punted 90 times with a 46-yard average in 2013. Jacoby Jones led the team in kick returns with 31 returns for 892 yards. Now-departed Tandon Doss led the team in punt returns yardage (359) on 23 returns (15.6 avg.) last season. Harbaugh s teams have qualified for the playoffs in five of his first six seasons, including the initial five (2008-12) prior to finishing 8-8 in 2013. Harbaugh owns the NFL s fourth-best winning percentage (.651) among active head coaches, compiling a 71-38 overall record (including playoffs). For active head coaches who ve coached a minimum of 60 games, he ranks second behind Bill Belichick (.657). Harbaugh is the only head coach in NFL history (since the 1970 merger) to win a playoff game in each of his first five seasons. Baltimore has a 9-4 postseason mark during his tenure. Under Harbaugh s guidance, the Ravens have appeared in three AFC Championship games (2008, 2011, 2012). Harbaugh s.692 postseason winning percentage ranks first among active coaches. Baltimore s 71 total victories since Harbaugh s arrival in 2008 rank second most in the NFL, while the team s 62 regular season wins during that time stand third. The Ravens have posted a 39-9 mark at M&T Bank Stadium over the past six seasons, the NFL s second-best home record during that span (2008-13). Ravens top four seasons for fewest turnovers have all occurred during Harbaugh s tenure. In 2012, Baltimore set a franchise single-season record for fewest turnovers (16), breaking the previous mark of 20 from 2010. Harbaugh s 2010 and 2011 teams combined to produce the fewest penalties (182) over a two-year stretch in franchise history. The Ravens offense has also experienced success during the Harbaugh s tenure. In 2013, Flacco set career highs in passing yards (3,912), completions (362) and attempts (614). Flacco s completions and attempts also set new franchise marks, continuing to extend his title as the franchise s all-time passing leader (1,869-of-3,103 for 21,545 yards and 121 TDs). Under Harbaugh s guidance, Flacco has produced 62 regular season wins, the most by a starting quarterback in the first six seasons of a career. The Ravens finished four (2008-11) of the past six seasons as the NFL s No. 3 scoring defense (fewest points allowed) tying an NFL record for consecutive seasons ranking in the Top 3. Harbaugh s red zone defense has finished in the Top 5 in five of his six seasons, including first overall in 2011 and second in both 2012 and 2008. Before becoming the Ravens head coach in 2008, Harbaugh was the Eagles secondary coach (2007), and prior to that, Philadelphia s special teams coordinator (1998-2006) and a 14-year collegiate coach. Following the 2001 campaign during his time with the Eagles, Harbaugh was voted the NFL s Special Teams Coach of the Year by his peers. On special teams, four Ravens players have earned Pro Bowl honors while playing for Harbaugh: special teamer Brendon Ayanbadejo (2008), kicker Billy Cundiff (2010), returner Jacoby Jones (2012) and kicker Justin Tucker (2013). Baltimore has posted the NFL s No. 1 kickoff return average (25.0) and fourth-most KOR-TDs (five). Harbaugh is from a football family. His father, Jack, is a 41-year coaching veteran who won the 2002 NCAA Division I-AA football championship as the head coach at Western Kentucky. His younger brother, Jim Harbaugh, who was the Ravens starting QB in 1998, played 14 seasons in the NFL and was named the San Francisco 49ers head coach in January 2011. 10 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles

The Redskins held 24 combined public practice or walkthrough sessions across 15 open days from July 24 to Aug. 11. The Redskins hosted a total of 164,789 people during camp, increasing their average daily attendance from 10,348 per day in the team s inaugural stint in Richmond in 2013 to 10,986 per day in 2014. In the first two years of hosting camp in the capital, the Redskins have welcomed in excess of 330,000 fans for sessions at the facility. This has been a great experience once again in Richmond, President/ General Manager Bruce Allen said on the team s final day in Richmond. Mayor [Dwight C.] Jones and his staff did a great job for us. Gov. [Terry] McAuliffe s hospitality and enthusiasm was great for us. Bon Secours staff did a fantastic job again. Our Charitable Foundation really had a great two or three weeks here. Overall from a coaching standpoint, I ve said it before and I ll say it again, what you want is a place that s conducive for learning, a place where they can get better, get their needed treatment, and everything is provided here in a first-class fashion. - Head Coach Jay Gruden on holding camp at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond, Va. This season, the Redskins added a new element to their camp experience in Richmond, hosting the New England Patriots for three days of joint sessions from Aug. 4-6. More than 62,000 people attended sessions during the three days with New England, which were preceded by an announced crowd of 20,447 for the team s annual Fan Appreciation Day on Aug. 2. Following the team s final session, Head Coach Jay Gruden was asked what message he had for the people of Richmond. We ve got to thank them all, Gruden said. Everything was first-class, first-rate from the practice fields to the way they kept them up to the facility inside here. Everything was clean and kept-up. Everything was very, very efficient. Quarterback Kirk Cousins touchdown pass and two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter helped the Redskins force overtime in a 31-28 win against the eventual Super Bowl champion Ravens in their last regular season meeting in December 2012. Above, Cousins celebrates his two-point conversion on a quarterback draw. Following each practice session at training camp, linebacker Trent Murphy (right) and other members of the Redskins participated in Helmet Walk, a tradition instituted during the team s inaugural camp in Richmond, Va., last season. Members of the Redskins invited children from the crowd to walk the length of the field, hold players helmets, receive autographs and interact with the team. 13 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles

Game Release The Washington Redskins finalized their 2014 NFL Draft class on Saturday, May 10, selecting eight total players. 2014 Draft REcap NOTES ON THE REDSKINS OVERALL DRAFT The Redskins made eight selections in the 2014 NFL Draft. The eight selections marked the third time in four years Washington has selected at least eight players (2011, 2012 and 2014). Washington selected 36 players in the past four drafts, the franchise s largest four-year total since the institution of the seven-round draft in 1994. The team last posted a four-year total of 36 across the 1991-94 NFL Drafts, a time frame which included two 12-round drafts, one eight-round draft and one seven-round draft. Washington made at least seven selections in four consecutive drafts for the first time since 1992-95. The Redskins selected two players in the seventh round, marking the sixth time in the last seven years that the team has drafted multiple players in the seventh round. Washington has made multiple seventhround selections in each year from 2008 through 2014 with exception of the 2013 NFL Draft. Washington made two trades during the 2014 NFL Draft. On Friday, the team sent the No. 34 overall pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for the Nos. 47 and 78 overall picks. On Saturday, Washington sent the No. 178 overall pick to the Tennessee Titans for the Nos. 186 and 228 overall selections. Washington selected four players with selections acquired by trade: LB Trent Murphy (No. 47 from Dallas), G Spencer Long (No. 78 from Dallas), RB Lache Seastrunk (No. 186 from Tennessee) and K Zach Hocker (No. 228 from Tennessee). The 2014 NFL Draft marked the first time since 2010 that the Redskins had not selected college teammates in the same draft. Washington selected at least a pair of college teammates in each draft from 2011-13 (Nebraska s Roy Helu, Jr., DeJon Gomes and Niles Paul in 2011; SMU s Josh LeRibeus and Richard Crawford in 2012; Florida State s Chris Thompson and Brandon Jenkins in 2013). With the selection of Stanford s Trent Murphy, the Redskins made a product of the conference now known as the Pac-12 the team s top selection for the first time since selecting Stanford DB Duncan McColl with their top selection in the 1977 NFL Draft. NOTES ON THE SELECTION OF TRENT MURPHY Murphy was the first selection of the Jay Gruden era and was the 35th selection by the Redskins since 2010. Murphy was the 432nd selection made by the Redskins in the Common Draft era (since 1967) and the 34th second-round selection in that time frame. He was the 52nd second-round selection by the Redskins all-time since the institution of the draft in 1936. The selection marked the third time the Redskins had taken a pass rusher with their first selection in the last six drafts (DE/LB Brian Orakpo in 2009 and LB Ryan Kerrigan in 2011). Including the selection of CB David Amerson with their initial pick last year, the Redskins selected a defensive player with their top pick in LB Trent Murphy consecutive seasons for the first time since drafting S Sean Taylor, CB Carlos Rogers, LB Rocky McIntosh and S LaRon Landry with their first selections in the 2004-07 NFL Drafts. Murphy was the 15th Stanford product selected by the Redskins all-time, joining E Keith Topping (1936), B Bill Joslyn (1944), B Willard Sheller (1944), B Bill Shipkey (1945), C Jim McCurdy (1945), B Lynn Brownson (1947), B Bob Anderson (1948), B Bob Mathias (1953), E Sam Morley (1954), QB Don Bunce (1972), DE Duncan McColl (1977), G Brad Badger (1997), QB Todd Husak (2000) and LB Jarred Newberry (2005). Murphy was the sixth Stanford product selected by the Redskins in the Common Draft era (since 1967), tied for 11th-most by a single college in that timeframe. Murphy s selection at No. 47 marked the highest the Redskins had taken a Stanford product since selecting E Keith Topping with the No. 11 overall pick in the 1936 NFL Draft. With Murphy s selection, the Redskins used a second-round pick to draft a linebacker for the first time since selecting McIntosh in the second round (No. 35 overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. Murphy was the third player selected by the Redskins at No. 47 alltime, joining T Larry Lutz (1936) and DE Shane Collins (1992). All three of Washington s all-time selections at No. 47 played collegiately in the conference now known as the Pac-12. Murphy was the first Pac-12 Conference player selected by the Redskins since selecting UCLA WR Terrence Austin in 2010. The two are the only Pac-12 products selected by the Redskins since 2010. NOTES ON THE SELECTION OF MORGAN MOSES Moses was the second selection of the Jay Gruden era and was the 36th selection by the Redskins since 2010. Moses was the 433rd selection made by the Redskins in the Common Draft era (since 1967) and the 32nd third-round selection in that time frame. He was the 61st third-round selection by the Redskins alltime since the institution of the draft in 1936. The selection marked the earliest the Redskins had taken an offensive lineman since selecting two-time Pro Bowler Trent Williams with the fourth overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. Moses was the first player from the University of Virginia selected by the Redskins since the team picked G Jim Huddleston in the sixth round of the 1986 NFL Draft. The Redskins last four selections from UVA have all been offensive linemen. 16 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles

Moses selection was the highest the Redskins had ever selected a UVA product. Jonny Papit was previously the highest-selected UVA player by the Redskins at the No. 76 overall pick in the 1951 NFL Draft. Moses was the sixth player selected by the Redskins at No. 66 alltime, joining G Rotta Holland (1937), B George Peters (1942), B Dick Lynch (1958), KR Mike Oliphant (1988) and DT Tracy Rocker (1989). Moses was the seventh Redskins draft pick since 2010 to have competed collegiately in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the most of any conference in that timeframe. The Redskins selected three ACC products in both the 2011 (Clemson s Jarvis Jenkins, Miami s Leonard Hankerson and Florida State s Markus White) and 2013 drafts (NC State s David Amerson, Florida State s Chris Thompson and Florida State s Brandon Jenkins). NOTES ON THE SELECTION OF SPENCER LONG Long was the third selection of the Jay Gruden era and was the 37th selection by the Redskins since 2010. Long was the Redskins second pick of the third round, marking the first time the Redskins had made two third-round selections since 2002 (CB Rashad Bauman and WR Cliff Russell). It was the fourth time in the Common Draft era (since 1967) that the Redskins had made multiple selections in the third round (1993, 1994, 2002 and 2014). Long was the 434th selection made by the Redskins in the Common Draft era and the 33rd third-round selection in that time frame. He was the 62nd third-round selection by the Redskins all-time since the institution of the draft in 1936. Including the selection of Morgan Moses, Washington selected offensive linemen with consecutive picks for the first time since selecting C Erik Cook and T Selvish Capers with two seventh-round selections in the 2010 NFL Draft. Long was the 20th Nebraska Cornhusker selected by the Washington Redskins all-time, tied with Alabama for fourth-most of any school in team history. NOTES ON THE SELECTION OF BASHAUD BREELAND Breeland was the fourth selection of the Jay Gruden era and was the 38th selection by the Redskins since 2010. Breeland was the 435th selection made by the Redskins in the Common Draft era (since 1967) and the 30th fourth-round selection in that time frame. He was the 45th fourth-round selection by the Redskins all-time since the institution of the draft in 1936. Including the selection of safety Phillip Thomas last year, the Redskins drafted defensive backs in the fourth round in consecutive drafts 2014 Draft Recap (cont.) for the first time in the Common Draft era. It was the first time the Redskins have selected members of the same position group in the fourth round in consecutive years since selecting linebackers Shawn Barber and Nate Stimson in the 1998 and 1999 NFL Drafts, respectively. Breeland was the 81st defensive back selected by the Redskins in the Common Draft era, the most of any position group. Game Release DeSean Jackson The Washington Redskins know first-hand what kind of playmaking ability wide receiver DeSean Jackson possesses. In six years as a Philadephia Eagle, Jackson faced the Redskins 11 times, catching 32 passes for 572 yards (17.9 avg.) with five receiving touchdowns, his most receiving touchdowns against any opponent. So when Jackson hit the free agent market on March 28, the Redskins were quick to act, signing the three-time Pro Bowler on April 2. Now the Redskins and first-year head coach Jay Gruden will set about finding ways to feature the dynamic seventh-year playmaker as part of its arsenal of weapons in 2014. You want to get people involved. That s what the beauty of this offense hopefully is being able to spread the ball around, Gruden said during training camp. We are able to get the running game involved, we are able to get Andre Roberts, DeSean and Pierre Garçon their touches and Robert [Griffin III] whatever he needs to do. Darrel Young, Jordan Reed, even [Logan] Paulsen, we ve got to try to get everybody involved. Whereas Garçon, Jackson s new teammate, turned heads in 2013 by amassing an NFL-leading and team-record-setting 113 receptions a season ago, it s been Jackson s explosiveness that has turned heads his entire career since entering the league in 2008. In the last six seasons, Jackson leads the NFL in receptions of 50-plus yards (22) and total touchdowns of 50-plus yards (17). The duo of Garçon and Jackson produced the third- and fourth-most receiving yards in the NFC a season ago, combining for 2,678 receiving yards in 2013. With Garçon and Jackson comprising a one-two receiving punch among Washington s array of offensive weapons for 2014, the question was posed to Jackson early in training camp: Will there be enough touches to keep everyone happy? I m sure that s the question everyone will want to know. Honestly, me and Andre [Roberts] were just talking about it earlier. It s very dangerous and it s very scary I d rather be on the team that has all the weapons, Jackson said. With me, Tana [Santana Moss], Pierre, J-Reed [Jordan Reed], Roberts, it s so many options Alfred Morris. There s just so many options that regardless of how you play it... If somebody doesn t get double teamed, another receiver is going to be open. I d rather be on the team with all the weapons. - Wide receiver DeSean Jackson in response to a question about if there are enough touches to keep all of Washintgon s offensive threats happy Jackson s addition was called a hand-in-glove fit by Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams, and it s how Jackson fits both with and without the ball that Gruden envisions helping the attack. Some days DeSean will have 10 catches for 200 yards. Maybe he will have two catches for eight yards. We don t know how it s going to play out, how the defenses are going to cover us, Gruden said. The coverage should dictate where the ball goes and hopefully with the weapons that we have, a certain guy can make a defense pay depending on how they are playing us. Jackson produced two games in excess of 190 receiving yards a season ago and joins the Redskins following a season in which he posted career highs in receptions (82) and receiving yards (1,332) and matched his career high in receiving touchdowns (nine). In light of such productive personal numbers a season ago, what expectations does Jackson have for himself in 2014? Honestly, man, Jackson opined. I just want to help my team win games. Game Release Prince George s County, Maryland home to FedExField quickly became Pierre Garçon s county in 2013. The receiver made himself at home in opposing secondaries in 2013 and produced one of the greatest receiving seasons in the Redskins eight-decade history. Washington signed Garçon on the first day of free agency during the 2012 offseason, believing his speed and tenacious on-field demeanor would add another dimension to the Redskins offense. Garçon was a difference-maker during the team s NFC East title run in 2012, as the Redskins posted a 9-1 record with him in the lineup and were 1-5 with him sidelined. Garçon amassed 113 receptions for 1,346 yards and five touchdowns in 2013. His 113 receptions broke Pro Football Hall of Famer Art Monk s 29-year-old team record for receptions in a season. Garçon led the league in receptions in 2013 and became the first Redskin since Monk in 1984 to finish a season atop the NFL in receptions. NFL RECEPTIONS LEADERS (2013): Player Team Rec Yds TD 1. When they signed him there, that s what they wanted, and that s what they re getting. - Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter, as told to Mike Jones of The Washington Post to raise money to help them out, keep their doors open so more kids can benefit from it. In addition, Garçon helped donate new football jerseys to one high school in Washington, D.C., one in Virginia and one in Maryland. The gesture was personal for the Division III Mount Union product. It just makes me happy that I could help out, especially in high school, where for kids, it s a big moment in their lives, Garcon told The Washington Post. Having nice uniforms could make you play a little bit better and hopefully help you earn a scholarship to play Division I football, and that goes a long way between playing Division I instead of Division III, not having to pay your loans and all that. During the 2014 offseason, Garçon s off-field efforts carried him overseas, as he joined Saints tight end Jimmy Graham and Dolphins punter Brandon Fields on a USO tour of U.S. military bases in Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates in March. Garçon s numbers and his acrobatic highlight-reel catches were worthy of attention, but the Redskins coaching staff also tried to draw attention to what Garçon a ferocious perimter blocker did for Washington s prolific rushing attack in 2013. Garçon has made great strides to make sure his impact transcends the football field. In the 2013 offseason, Garçon hosted an event that raised more than $30,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington. In 2014, his second annual event raised more than $100,000. We re just coming together to help support the [organization], he told The Washington Post. I grew up in a similar atmosphere, and if we can help kids grow, and keep them out of trouble from the time they get out of the classroom, and especially in the summertime... Game Release homecoming FOR ryan clark Ryan Clark spent two years with the Washington Redskins from 2004-05, helping patrol a secondary that guided the Redskins to a playoff berth and Wild Card round victory in his last season in D.C. Now 34, Clark returns to the Redskins with a Super Bowl ring and a Pro Bowl selection to his name. Immediately after his signing in early April, observers noted the leadership he could provide the team s young corps of defensive backs, and Clark has a theory why his name and the term leadership are so often found adjacent to one another these days. I get talked to a lot about leadership, Clark said during training camp. I m just old. The line drew laughs, but it s the way the former college free agent from LSU now entering the 13th season of his decorated NFL career can lead by example that could prove most valuable to the Redskins secondary in 2014. I m not like, Hey, you have got to do it this way, or You ve got to do it that way, Clark said. I think that falls on guys after you ve played for such a long time, but for me, we re all the same group. We re all brothers. We re all trying to figure out how we can win games. Clark is expected to be more than just a teacher in his second tenure in Washington. He joined the Redskins having previously appeared in 161 regular season games with 137 starts, compiling 807 tackles (562 solo), 52 passes defensed, 15 interceptions, five forced fumbles, six fumbles recovered and 3.5 sacks. He spent eight years in Pittsburgh from 2006-13 and played in 92 of a possible 96 regular season games from 2008-13 and helped the Steelers to two Super Bowl appearances in that time frame, including a 27-23 victory in Super Bowl XLIII. The Marrero, La. native earned his first career Pro Bowl selection following the 2011 season, a season in which he started all 16 games of the Steelers 12-4 campaign. One season later, he was named the Steelers 2012 Walter Payton Man of the Year for his off-the-field community service as well his on-field performance. Fans and observers may do a double take when seeing Clark in the Redskins secondary on the practice field, but not simply just because of his return. Though Clark will wear No. 25 on Sundays, the former teammate of the late Sean Taylor has continued his tradition of wearing No. 21 in Taylor s honor during practices. Every time somebody asks me why I wear a different number to practice, I get to tell Sean s story. I get to tell people about the guy I love. I get to tell people about the guy who was possibly on his way to being the greatest safety to ever play the game. And that got cut short. He never got to realize his full potential. But it gives me the opportunity to remind people of him. - Safety Ryan Clark to 106.7 The Fan on why he wears No. 21 in practice The No. 21 represents a solemn moment of reflection for the normally gregarious Clark, who spent part of his offseason as an analyst for ESPN. Given his outgoing personality and the trend of nicknamed secondaries in the NFL, a reporter asked Clark if he cared to nickname Washington s secondary. No, we have no nicknames. All of that stuff is cute but I don t care about that, you know what I mean? Clark said during training camp. We just want to win. If by the end of the season you could say the secondary for the Washington Redskins were winners, I think we ll take that. That would be the most important thing. 21 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles

Game Release For years, Washington s defense didn t have to search hard for a leader. Middle linebacker London Fletcher took command in the huddle and in the locker room, but following Fletcher s retirement after the 2013 season, the unit found itself in need of a unifying voice. Enter DeAngelo Hall. The 30-year-old playmaker at cornerback now in his 11th year has made a career of matching up one-on-one with top receivers and coming up with game-changing plays. The never-shy and oftenbrash Virginia Tech product seems ready to take the mantle of leadership. It s going to be the first camp in a long time that I haven t had a guy like Fletch around, so definitely the onus is on me, Hall said early in training camp. Meeting with Jay [Gruden] this offseason he kind of stressed that to me and I embraced it. I felt like I was ready for it. London, I tried to stay in his hip pocket as much as possible, so I m definitely up for the challenge. I understand it s not about me, it s about this team. Hall has been among the top playmaking cornerbacks in the league since joining the Redskins in 2008. He has played 84 regular season games with the Redskins with 79 starts, registering 436 tackles (according to STATS, LLC), 23 interceptions, seven fumbles recovered, six fumbles forced and a sack. His 23 interceptions since joining the Redskins on Nov. 7, 2008 are tied for the third-most in the NFL in that time frame. I never said I was the best, I would be a fool to think 11 years in I m the best in the game right now, Hall noted. I definitely think I m pretty successful at doing what I do. Like I said, man, if you really watch film, let s go watch film and I put my film against any corner in the league and we ll see what he does and we ll see what I do and we can go from there. I definitely think that if you put me out there against a receiver, anyone of them, I ll take my chances. I never said I was the best, but I definitely feel like I should be in the conversation. The comments displayed the matured and refined Hall, who has grown considerably from the player who was perceived as selfish entering the league at 20 years of age. It s the new Hall that new coach Jay Gruden has come to value as both a player and as a locker room presence. I did hear about DeAngelo Hall a little bit, some of the reputation, some of the things that happened, the attitude that he has. But as a cornerback, you kind of want some of that attitude, that cockiness, that confident air about you as long as it doesn t affect your play, Gruden said. He s proven the last few years that it doesn t affect his play and I think he s calmed down a little bit. He knows what being a pro is all about... We re happy with his leadership role and his accountability right now. Hall hopes to continue making a run at record books this season. His 23 interceptions as a Redskin rank 10th in team history. Last season, he scored a team-record three defensive touchdowns. Hall became only the second player in NFL history with at least four interception return touchdowns and four fumble return touchdowns in a career, joining former cornerback Ronde Barber. Game Release In the midst of their NFC East title run in 2012, the Redskins found themselves without the services of linebacker Brian Orakpo for the team s final 14 games of the season after a torn pectoral muscle ended his season in Week 2. Orakpo s recovery and return was one of the defining storylines during the 2013 offseason. Orakpo s renaissance season in 2013 was a resounding success. The Houston native started 15 games for Washington, missing only the team s finale, and earned his third career Pro Bowl selection after he was credited with 70 tackles by the coaching staff while accumulating 10.0 sacks, four passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown. The man known simply as Rak entered the season needing half a sack to reach the career 30-sack milestone, a plateau which he made distant in the linebacker s rearview mirror. He surpassed the 30-sack mark with a sack at Green Bay in Week 2 and posted another nine sacks in the 12 games that followed. With 1.5 sacks at Atlanta in Week 15, Orakpo reached 10.0 sacks for the season, marking the first time he had posted double-digit sacks in a season since setting a Redskins rookie record with 11.0 sacks in his debut season in 2009. In 2013, Orakpo passed Dave Butz (35.5) and Andre Carter (34.0) on the team s all-time sack list and currently sits fifth in franchise history with 39.5 sacks. Wilber Marshall 1988-92 (5) 24.5 The former Texas Longhorn has been adept at getting his hands on quarterbacks throughout his entire football life, but in Week 7, Orakpo had his first experience getting his hands on a pass. In the second quarter of Washington s win over the Chicago Bears, Orakpo intercepted quarterback Jay Cutler and returned the pick 29 yards for a touchdown. The interception and the defensive touchdown were both career firsts for Orakpo, and according to Orakpo, the interception was the first of his life at any level. As with any 3-4 outside linebacker in today s NFL, Orakpo is judged primarily on his pass rush, but Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett has gone out of his way in recent years to credit Orakpo for his role in the run game. He s violent in the run game. I think he s coming around and looked like the Rak of old. Haslett said. I think Rak is good on the run. You know the No. 1 criteria for outside linebacker is obviously pass rusher. No. 2 is you ve got to be able to handle a tight end, beat up a tight end. I think him and Ryan [Kerrigan] are excellent in both of those. In addition to his pass rush prowess and his ability against the run, in the 2014 offseason, new Outside Linebackers Coach Brian Baker praised an underrated aspect of Orakpo s game. They are the best covering outside linebackers in this league, Baker said of Orakpo and Kerrigan during minicamp. I was shocked when I studied film to take the job how good those guys are in coverage... In coverage, those guys are ridiculous. In coverage, I m not messing those two dudes up at all. They are fantastic, both of them. 2013 Season Highlights Week 2 at Packers: Broke 30 career sacks with a first quarter sack of Aaron Rodgers. Week 4 at Raiders: Recorded two sacks in Oakland, giving him six career sacks in two games played O.co Coliseum. Week 7 vs. Bears: Came away with the first interception of his entire football career (amateur or professional) and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown. Week 11 at Eagles: Added 1.5 sacks of Nick Foles to pass Andre Carter (34.0) for sixth on the Redskins all-time sack list. Game Release Darrel Young entered the NFL as a college free agent linebacker out of Villanova in 2009. One position change and two head coaching changes later, Young has found a home as one of the league s most dynamic fullbacks. A favorite of teammates, fans, coaches and media members alike, there was consternation in the 2014 offseason about whether or not new coach Jay Gruden who did not prominently feature a fullback as Offensive Coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals would have a significant role for Young. That question was laid to rest early in training camp. I didn t have Darrel Young in Cincinnati if I had him, I would have used him, Gruden said. He s very versatile, he can run, he can catch, so we re excited about having him... The personnel will vary but DY will be a major part of this offense. I didn t have Darrel Young in Cincinnati. If I had him, I would have used him. - Head Coach Jay Gruden during training camp, discussing his limited usage of fullbacks while Offensive Coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals Unsung hero In Week 9 last season, Young helped the Redskins to an overtime win against the San Diego Chargers, receiving five carries for 12 yards and three rushing touchdowns, including a 4-yard walk-off touchdown in overtime. The three touchdowns were a single-game career high for Young. Young had entered the game with only one career rushing touchdown to his credit a six-yard score against the New York Giants on Dec. 18, 2011. He added a career-long 62-yard touchdown reception two weeks later at Philadelphia. As a blocker, Young has helped pave the way for a rushing attack that gained a league-high 4,873 rushing yards on 972 carries across the 2012-13 seasons. Among the beneficiaries of Young s blocks is Alfred Morris, who ranked fourth in the NFL in rushing in 2013 and whose 2,888 rushing yards from 2012-13 rank ninth-most in NFL history among players in their first two seasons. Young was a crucial component of the Redskins league-high 2,709 rushing yards in 2012, which broke the team record of 2,625 set in 1983. The team broke the 200-yard rushing mark four times in 2012, tied for the most in a season in team history since the 1970 merger. With Young, the Redskins surpassed the 200-yard rushing plateau three times in 2013 as well. Though Young continues to adapt and thrive in his unsung hero role in Washington s offense, the hero label is nothing new to the Young family. Young was raised in a military family, as his father served in the Army and his brother, Sgt. 1st Class David Young Jr., has completed several tours in the Middle East in recent years. Young has travelled overseas to visit troops in order to show his appreciation for members of the military and has repeatedly been supportive of all members of the military. He s out there to serve the country. He s the real hero in my life. - Fullback Darrel Young discussing his brother, Sgt. 1st Class David Young Jr., on ESPN s Sunday NFL Countdown (segment screenshots on right) The mentality of sacrifice and hard work that was ingrained in Young while growing up in a military family established the foundation for his success doing football s so-called dirty work both as a fullback and as one of the Redskins leaders on special teams. 28 5 World Championships 3 Super Bowl Titles 5 NFC Championships 14 Division Titles
