Horse Council meets once a month to discuss ideas and determine programs of interest to its members, with each horse club represented by voting members. In addition to playing an active role in organizing the horse shows at the Atlantic County 4-H Fair, Horse Council sponsors all of the open shows featured in this booklet, held from April to October on the 4-H fairgrounds. These shows cover all aspects of riding English, Western, Gaming, Dressage, and Miniature horse classes and allow the young riders to showcase the skills they have worked so hard to perfect. Horse Council also provides many educational experiences to aid these members in their knowledge of horse and barn care, as well as riding. Horse Council has been instrumental in many of the renovation projects on the 4-H fairgrounds, including the barn and repairing the fences, and is now working to improve the surface of the riding arenas. These adults volunteer their time and share their knowledge with the youth in the horse program, providing them with the opportunities to gain new knowledge and to compete in a safe, healthy, and sportsmanlike environment. Horse Council meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the David C. Wood 4-H Center. On behalf of all the leaders, members, volunteers and sponsors, we thank you for supporting our 4-H Open Show Series! 51
