Lady Liberty wears a seven-pointed spiked crown. The seven points stand for the seven seas and the seven continents and the broken shackles at her feet represent liberation from oppression. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States. It was dedicated on October 28 th 886. It was created by sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, who travelled to New York to select the site, and then designed and made the statue in Paris. Alexandre Gustave Eiffel was the architect and engineer who created the internal structure of the statue. It took ten years for the statue to be completed and shipped to New York..
