Ta g g a r t B a y L o d g e is owned and operated by Yves Bouthillette and his family. The Bouthillette family has been in the fishing and hunting lodge business for 70 years. Our lodge offers easy access by the way of a 4 mile good gravel road off of Quebec highway 101 at Laniel, Quebec. We are located on beautiful Kipawa Lake in a wilderness setting just 5 hours north of Toronto or 6 hours north of the Thousand Islands. You may drive right up to the door of our thirteen cabins at the main lodge or, if you prefer, boat down the lake to our outpost cabin. All the cabins at Taggart Bay Lodge and Maple Leaf Lodge are considered to be a 5 Star rating and each is fully equipped for housekeeping including hot and cold running water, indoor showers, bathtubs and flush toilets. All cabins have an outdoor gas grill, picnic tables and private docks. Fishing: Kipawa Lake is deep and clean. It is well known for its fishing. It is over fifty miles long with more than thirteen hundred miles of shoreline. It has many bays and islands that provide great fishing and boating. Each year many walleyes over 10 pounds are brought into camp. Huge northern pike prowl the lake with one over twenty pounds a possibility. Our lake is also known for trophy smallmouth bass with many over 20 inches. In addition, lake trout are abundant and average three to five pounds. The lake record is fifty-two pounds caught just a few years ago. We offer a wide variety of fishing options at no extra charge. We have numerous easy access remote lakes for northern pike or smallmouth bass (both are catch and release only in the remote lakes). Spring bear hunting at Taggart Bay Lodge and Maple Leaf Lodge is a truly great experience for the avid hunter. We have had at least a 99% sighting and a 94% kill rate over the past years. We limit the number of hunters from 10 to 12 per week. Since we maintain at least 100 active baits, you can see the reason for our high success rate. You also get the full fishing package with the hunting package. Many hunters kill their bear early and fish the remainder of the week. Ask about our newly opened outposts in Quebec especially developed for bear hunting. M oose hunting at Taggart Bay Lodge, in the fall, is a great experience. FISHING AT TAGGART BAY LODGE Kipawa Lake is known for its huge pike. Fish over 20 pounds are a distinct possibility. Kipawa Lakers average 3 to 5 pounds, but fish over 20 pounds are caught each season. The Lake record exceeds 52 pounds. FALL MOOSE HUNT Our moose hunting territory consists of hundreds of lakes, rivers, swamps and beaver ponds. Some of the most secluded territories are reached by boat. If you wish, you may hunt from one of our outposts even farther into the forest. All hunts are assisted hunts. On your arrival day, the owner or a guide takes you to your hunting territory and shows you how to get to it. They also locate everything on a map, boats, canoes and tree stands and advise you on the best strategies. The owner or a guide will help you retrieve your moose after you kill it - IF NEEDED. They use a four wheeler to get it out of the forest since moose will average 1000 pounds be prepared for a lot more weight on the return trip. Please note there will be a $450 USD fee to help you get your moose out if needed.
