Don t let them use up all of their energy running around. Tell them to save it for their races. The TEAM needs them to be ready to swim fast. This session is for all 10 &U swimmers. For all 10 & U swimmers there is a CLERK OF COURSE. All swimmers 10 & U MUST report to the CLERK OF COURSE when the announcer calls their event. What is a Clerk of Course? The Clerk of Course, located in the grassy area behind the blocks organizes all the 10 & U by lane and heat and then takes them to the blocks for their events. Each team provides workers for the Clerk of Course to assist in this endeavor. Our team parents are responsible for getting our swimmers to the Clerk of Course. QUALIFIERS: After the preliminary sessions, this is how the Finals on Tuesday work: The top twelve swimmers in each event, plus two alternates (places 13 and 14) will qualify for finals. The six fastest will swim in the CHAMPIONSHIP heat (Places 1-6) The next six fastest will swim in the CONSOLATION heat (Places 7-12). Alternates can only be placed in the Consolation heat. Alternates MUST show up ready to swim in case one of the top 12 swimmers misses the event. This has happened in the past so be ready to swim! Swimmers who placed 1 st 6 th on Monday swim in the championship heat on Tuesday. Swimmers who placed 7 th 12 th on Monday swim in the consolation heat on Tuesday. Alternates (places 13 and 14) can only be placed in the Consolation Heat. It is the swimmers final time on TUESDAY which determines their place overall and awarded points to the team. SWIMMERS MAY NOT CHANGE CATEGORIES; that is, the highest any swimmer in the consolation heat may score is 7 th place, even if he/she swims a better time on Tuesday than a swimmer in the championship heat.
