On 14 and 15 July, more than 10,000 participants transform Hamburg's inner city to an unrivalled Triathlon arena. Swim in the Inner and Outer Alster Lake - bike via the Landungsbrücken - run along the Outer Alster Lake and on Jungfernstieg Event Date Saturday, July 14, 2018 Age Groups Sprint Distance Sunday, July 15, 2018 Age Groups Olympic Distance Entry Fee Payment is only available via credit card. For each booking we will apply a Active fee about 8%. A triathlon start pass is necessary for the olympic distance. DTU-one-day licenses can be purchased within the registration for 15. All prices are inclusive of VAT (19%). DTU-one-day licenses are VAT-Free.
What do I get?
Admission Criteria All competitions are open to everyone, provided there are no health concerns. A triathlon start pass is necessary for the olympic distance. Age limit for sprint distance: Age Group 2002 or older Age limit for olympic distance: Age Group 2000 or older Required time limit for sprint distance: 2 hours, 15 minutes (approximately) Required time limit for the olympic distance: 3 hours, 30 minutes (approximately) As regards equipment the DTU sports regulations shall be applicable It is generally forbidden to use an ipod, mp3 player or similar in the race. Swimming Wearing the swim cap provided by the organiser is compulsory. It is generally recommended to wear a neoprene suit for safety reasons (protection against cold). If it is mandatory to wear such a suit due to the water temperature, the participant has to provide for such equipment. Swimming in waters below 14 C is prohibited. Wearing of neoprene suits is usually on a voluntary basis. No neoprene suit shall be worn when the water temperature is above 22 C. The race director shall inform participants in a timely manner (latest at the race briefing) if wearing neoprene suits is allowed or prohibited. Cycling Admitted will be all bicycles meeting the DTU requirements. Slipstreaming behind or from the side next to another participant is prohibited. Triathlon handle bars are allowed. The race number must be worn on the back. Front and rear wheel brakes must function properly. All participants must wear a homologated helmet. Running Any form of mobile or catering escort on the course is prohibited. The race number must be worn during the run on the front. It is strictly compulsory to do the run circuit completely clothed. Competition rules The ITU World Triathlon Hamburg will be subject to the Deutsche Triathlon Union (DTU) sports regulations. Rankings Aside from the overall ranking, there will be individual rankings for the following age groups, according to gender: Youth A: 16-17 years (sprint distance only) Senior 3: 50-54 years Junior: 18-19 years Senior 4: 55-59 years Age group 1: 20-24 years Senior 5: 60-64 years Age group 2: 25-29 years Senior 6: 65-69 years Age group 3: 30-34 years Senior 7: 70-74 years Age group 4: 35-39 years Senior 8: 75-79 years Senior 1: 40-44 years Senior 9: 80-84 years Senior 2: 45-49 years In addition, the following rankings are available: Team Ranking (3 to 4 members) Company ranking - HAMBURG ENERGIE Firmencup (minimum 6 members) Registration Registration procedure Every athlete is responsible to register herself/himself online. Registration by email will not be accepted. With your registration, you also confirm that you have read and accepted the General Terms and Conditions. The entry fee will be collected from your account via credit card transaction plus the 8% Active-fee. You will be charged with 46.00 if the timing chip gets lost or is not returned. The use of your own timing chip is prohibited due to organisational reasons. After your registration, you will receive an official entry confirmation. Closing Date, Late Registration and Race Slot Transfer Registration will be closed as soon as the race slot contingents of both distances for both days have been exhausted; but no later than June 1, 2018. If the maximum number of participants has not been reached up to that date, it will be possible for a late registration to be conducted either online or at the accreditation in the inner city. A race slot transfer to another participant will only be possible online via the active account with a transfer fee of 20.00 and only until July 1, 2018. More information regarding the race slot transfer will be announced on website.
Team Ranking / Same start wave Participants who wish to be recognized with their team in the team ranking, must start at the same distance. The team chef, who created the team, must inform the other team members about the team name and the password to join the team and the spelling of all the members is identical. A team consists of at least three or maximum of four participants. Teams with fewer or more participants do not appear in the team ranking. All participants will appear in the individual standings. The best three participants of a team come in the team ranking. The members of a team will start together in a starting group. Unless team ranking is desired, a team of up to 50 people can start together from the same starting block. PLEASE NOTE: The booking of a preferred start time will be prioritized for the starting block allocation! HAMBURG ENERGIE Company Ranking Together with our sponsor HAMBURG ENERGIE we align the HAMBURG ENERGIE Firmencup ranking every year. All companies that participate with their teams at our corporate ranking are logged in via a separate online business registration. To be recognized as a company team, all team members must be working under contract with the same employer. A company team consists of a minimum of 6 participants. A company can report any number of participants. The company team ranking results from the order of finish. HAMBURG ENERGIE will organize an award ceremony for all successful teams. Applications are available on request at our athletes Service Team. Before the Race Accreditation and Race Pack You will be informed of the opening hours for accreditation on our social media website, our homepage and via newsletter. Upon presenting the official entry confirmation and your identity card/passport, you will receive your race pack and kit bag. If you are unable to pick up your race pack personally, another person presenting a written and signed authorisation from you and a copy of your ID card may pick the race pack on your behalf. MINOR-YEAR PARTICIPANTS must give their consent to the accreditation by the legal representative in accordance with 108 para. 1 BGB (German Civil Code). This consent must be given by the legal representative personally on site. The legal representative must be able to identify himself/herself with identification. For the exact procedure, please refer to your entry confirmation. Start Wave Allocation The start wave allocation will generally be conducted according to age group and sex. However, participants of team rankings will start in one start wave. Participants having indicated the same code word in the field "same start wave code word" will also start in one start wave. Race Information All race information will be made available on time before the event on our homepage www.hamburgtriathlon.org. Each participant shall receive an information brochure upon collecting the race pack.
Changes and updated information will be posted at the race pack collection area as well, if applicable. We request all participants to read the published information carefully before the start! Timekeeping Time keeping will be in real time through a timing chip provided by Mika Timing, to be attached to the participant s ankle. You will find this chip in your race pack. Your time will be taken at the start and finish lines and the check points at the end of the distances, as well as at the entrance and exit of the transition area. Your final times will be made available on the homepage after the competition. Bike Check in and Transition Area The exact check-in time for your bike / equipment will depend on your start time. The times will be published on the internet and in the starter's handbook. Kit Bag Deposit Please deposit all items you need for the competition in the yellow box next to your bike in the transition area. You can place all personal items that you do not need for the race in your kit bag, which you can drop off at a central collection point immediately before the race begins. Shower and Change Facilities Prior and after the race change and shower facilities, as well as a massage service, can be found at the Athlete's Area at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz. The Competition Start Times Sprint Distance: Saturday, July 14, approx. from 7.00 am Olympic Distance: Sunday, July 15, approx. from 7.00 am The exact start times will be given upon accreditation and also on the internet before the event. Please adhere to the start time you find on your race number, as starting the swim too early or too late may result to incorrect timekeeping. The start location will be at Binnenalster (Inner Alster) on the promenade Jungfernstieg. The transition zones for the two changes will be situated in Ballindamm. Aid Stations There will be several catering points along the race course and at the finish that will provide bananas, energy bars and water. For detailed information, please refer to your starter's handbook.
Time Limit The following time limits must be adhered during the competition: Sprint Distance Swim/Bike: 1 hour, 55 minutes (approximately) Swim/Bike/Run: 2 hours, 15 minutes (approximately) Olympic Distance: Swim/Bike: 2 hours, 45 minutes (approximately) Swim/Bike/Run: 3 hours, 30 minutes (approximately) After the Race Finish Area The finish will be at Rathausmarkt. After you have received your medal, you have to leave the race course immediately in the direction of the catering point, where you can replenish with water, an Erdinger alcohol-free beer and fruit. Kit Bag Collection and Athlete's Area You can redeem your kit bag after crossing the finish from the central collection point. Just follow the signposts. You can shower, change and avail of a massage service in the Athlete's Area. You can then check out your bike according to your allocated check out time from the transition area, stress-free. Check-out Times Please bear in mind that, due to the on-going competition, a check out may only be conducted within the specified times! Estimated check out times will be (subject to changes): Saturday, July 14: approx.. 2.00 5.30 pm Sunday, July 15: approx.. 2.00 5.30 pm Timing Chip Return The timing chip must be returned when checking out your bike, or by presenting your race number at the transition area. Important: Please keep the return coupon handed out until the end of the year, in case a proof of return is requested! Please note that these times cannot be changed, as they are there to prevent the disturbance in the transition zone of the on-going competition. Please plan your departure times and arrangements accordingly. If a participant fails to return the timing chip during bike check-out, a penalty fee of 46.00 will be charged by the organiser. This will be collected by credit card (VISA or Mastercard) after the event. If for some important reason the timing chip cannot be returned immediately after the race, it must be sent back by mail to the organiser s address by August 1, 2018.
Medal Engraving We offer all participants the opportunity to have the finisher medal custom engraved (name, distance, time). The medal engraving can be ordered directly during the registration process for 9.00 (plus 8% ACTIVE-Fee) You will find more information on locating the medal engraving booth at the venue in due time on our homepage, or on the race information handbook. Online Service: Results, Participant Photos, Certificates You can view and download your results, finisher's certificate, and photos soon after the race. Your personal photos can be ordered online through our photo partner finisherpix.com Hamburg Sports Foundation (Stiftung Leistungssport Hamburg) Support Young Sports Talents Ironman Germany GmbH supports the Stiftung Leistungssport Hamburg. The foundation is tasked with finding young talent and encouraging their development in close cooperation with clubs and federations. Without financial help we can do nothing please help, by adding 1 to your entry fee payment. It just takes one tick in the box. This money goes directly and without reduction to the developing talent. In addition to the 1,00 EUR you will be charged 0,08 EUR as a transaction cost (Active fee) which does not go to charity. More to this at www.stiftung-leistungssport.de Defrauding the Organiser by Participating Under a False Name Participants who have transferred their own race slot to other persons to participate with, without ensuring that said slot was not rightfully transferred to the acquiring person's name, will receive a ban to race at the organiser's event for at least 3 subsequent years. Furthermore, the organiser reserves the right to pursue further legal measures. Participants that race under a false name shall generally receive a lifetime ban from participating in the organiser's event. In addition, the organiser reserves the right to charge a fine of 500, as well as pursue further legal measures for such transgressions. The fine will be donated for charitable purposes.
