Summit Ski Team Sponsorship & Fundraising Policy Who We Are Summit Ski Team (SST) is a non-profit organization that teaches the fundamentals of skiing and ski racing to our youth in Park City, Utah. SST was established in 2001 and is governed by an Executive Board to help organize and implement programs focused on the team vision. In particular, our philosophy is characterized by: Ensuring that every child who has the desire to succeed is given the opportunity Fundamental and technical elements of skiing and racing Teamwork, friendship, self-confidence, pride, discipline, and goal setting Competition, fair play, and respect for one another and the environment Safety awareness and skiing courtesy Physical and mental preparation and conditioning Instilling the passion for lifetime skiing Aspiring to the highest level in coaching quality and standards Offering scholarships and financial assistance to those in need. The team composition of SST includes athletes age 7 and older along with professional coaches who are fully licensed and insured by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA). SST strives to maintain a very low athlete-to-coach ratio and groups are determined based on skiing ability, age, experience, and individual goals. Coaches teach and model skiing skills, tactics, and sportsmanship with a heavy emphasis on having fun. The home base for SST is Canyons Resort, Park City, UT Our Mission The Summit Ski Team is a family-based ski club dedicated to providing a safe, fun and motivating environment for our youth learning to ski and race. Participants develop a foundation for lifelong skiing enjoyment through all-mountain skiing, professional coaching, race training, competition, and team camaraderie. SST Sponsorship and Fundraising Opportunities The Summit Ski Team (SST) offers three ways to support the team: Fundraising. SST offers multiple fundraising events during the course of the year. The raised money is typically used to offset programming expenses (equipment, coaching expenses, race-related expenses) or to fund our scholarship programs. Sponsorship. We divide our sponsorship activities into two main groups: team sponsors and event sponsors. Both groups offer three tiers of sponsorship to address the different needs of our sponsors. Scholarships. Our scholarship program is an integral part of our mission: making ski racing affordable for every kid. Funds are used to offer season passes and/or program fees to the successful candidates. All opportunities are flexible and can be tailored to the specific needs of our sponsors. Furthermore, SST is willing to explore other sponsorship opportunities as they best serve the prospective sponsor. Fundraising Summit Ski Team offers multiple fundraising events during the course of the year. For our fundraising efforts we approach fans, friends and local philanthropists of our team. Typical events in the past have been: The participation in the annual Jans Winter Welcome, where we raised several thousand dollars per year, mainly through auctioning of donated prizes as well as through volunteering that gets reimbursed to the club. Our traditional Ski-A-Thon is a fun event for the entire team. We try to ski all ski lifts of the Canyons resort in one day and our fans and friends commit to a donation for every completed lift ride. The day ends with a big party that entails raffles and prizes. We are always grateful for the donation of raffle prizes by our local businesses (e.g. skis, ski accessories, sporting goods, lodging vouchers, etc.). The ski-a-thon activities and the sale of raffle tickets typically sums up to several thousand dollars. Year-End Party, sale of car wash cards, etc. For more information about our fundraising efforts and events, please contact Susan Hamblin (hamblin90@msn.com). Scholarships The mission statement of SST puts a clear emphasis on family oriented and affordable activities. Therefore, the purpose of our scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to existing and potential Summit Ski Team athletes for whom financial challenges may preclude their participation with the team. The independent Summit Ski Team Scholarship Committee will evaluate athletes based on merit as it relates to commitment, character and sportsmanship. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Scholarships will be awarded in the form of credit toward ski team program fees including seasonal dues and training fees. Awards will not be in the form of cash and will not cover the cost of equipment, travel, race entry fees, or optional ski camps. Our scholarship program is funded by donations and grants from individuals as well as corporations. For more information, please contact our Scholarship Committee (scholarship@summitskiteam.org).
