VIBRANCE COLLECTION Waterborne Midcoat VWM5556 VWM5556 is an innova ve waterborne midcoat for use with ENVIROBASE High Performance and AQUABASE Plus waterborne basecoats. VWM5556 creates a midcoat layer that can be applied over the waterborne basecoat and allows isola on of graphics when doing mul ple colors especially when the custom finish may be done over an extend period of me. VWM5556 may also be nted with Envirobase High Performance or Aquabase Plus toners, Vibrance Collec on powdered pearl or specialty flakes to create custom candy or pearl midcoat colors. VWM5556 may also be u lized as a blending clear or wet bed clear for the waterborne basecoat systems. For durability and appearance, VWM5556 must be clearcoated with a refinish top coat clear. This product is not intended for use as a stand alone clear top coat. VWM5556 is easy to use, and an essen al tool for having full range, VOC compliant capability in crea ng show stopping, eye catching custom finishes. For procedures relating to custom and/or restoration work refer to PPG s Custom Restoration Guide available at ppgrefinish.com under Training. Compa ble Products and Systems VWM5556 can be used with the systems shown below: Envirobase High Performance Refinish System Follow EB 143 Envirobase High Performance recommenda ons for proper prepara on and compa ble undercoats and topcoats. Aquabase Plus Refinish System Follow PDS N5.3.2 recommenda ons for proper prepara on and compa ble undercoats and topcoats. Note: Custom or exo c finishes are excluded from coverage under the PPG Paint Performance Guarantee. Direc ons For Use Surface Prepara on: When working on custom finishes pay close a en on to the details outlined for standard basecoat prepara on, sanding, and cleaning is needed to achieve the op mum results. When applying a color coat, make sure the ground coat has sufficiently flashed. PPG color coats are designed to be applied over properly cleaned, sanded and primed surfaces. See the Compa ble list in EB143 (EHP) or PDS N5.3.2 (Aquabase Plus) for an appropriate primer or sealer recommenda on.

Addi ves: Pot Life: 90 days with standard 4 : 1 Ra o 1 hour with converted Ra o 4 hours with Powdered Tints Custom Mixing VWM5556 with Vibrance Collec on Powdered Tints Refer to specific Vibrance Collec on P Sheet VWM5556 can be mixed with Vibrance Collec on powdered nts. Refer to specific Vibrance Collec on P Sheet for mixing recommenda ons. Air Pressure And Gun Setup: Note: Do Not Use with RADIANCE II HVLP: 10 psi at the air cap Conven onal: 45 55 psi at the gun Gun Setup: 1.2 1.4 mm or equivalent Refer to spraygun manufacturer s recommenda ons for inlet air pressures. Be sure to dry completely between coats using hand held air driers or other waterborne basecoat drying methods. Apply 1 coat to the blend area prior to basecoat applica on and /or intermix RTS VWM5556 1 : 1 with the basecoat prior to blending. Cau on: In all cases avoid high film build of basecoats. Dried Film Build Per Coat: 0.7 1.0 mils Drying Times Between Coats: 2 5 minutes at 70 F (21 C) or un l a uniform dull appearance is achieved.

Repair and Recoat: Standard: Light dry de nibbing can be carried out a er approximately 15 minutes air dry at 70 F (21 C). For cut through repairs allow to air dry 16 hours or overnight at 70 F (21 C) Clear Coa ng: Equipment Cleaning: Converted: Light dry de nibbing can be carried out a er approximately 2 hours air dry at 70 F (21 C). For cut through repairs allow to air dry 16 hours or overnight at 70 F (21 C). Note: All force dry mes are quoted for metal temperature. Addi onal me must be allowed during force dry to allow metal to reach recommended temperature. VWM5556 colors must be clearcoated with a compa ble Vibrance Collec on, Envirobase High Performance, Aquabase Plus clearcoat. Spray guns, gun cups, storage pots, etc., should be cleaned thoroughly a er each use with any appropriate PPG general purpose solvent.
