A Word From The Publisher School is out or soon will be for the Summer break. While we are enjoying a relatively cool, albeit very wet Spring, in Louisiana, we will be experiencing hot and humid days in the very near future. It is hard to believe that June is almost here. We want to thank Cassie Crawford, Roland Thibodeaux, Christy Gay and Michelle Corley for sharing photos with us again this month. Without volunteer photographers we just wouldn t have as much to share with our readers. Our goal with this magazine is to promote the sport of Skeet and encourage participation at Skeet shoots. One way we do that is by showing you how much fun we are having. If you would like to share shoot reports and pictures from your club s shoots, please send them to us. We also appreciate articles that would be of interest to our readers. We also post flyers for Skeet shoots on our website as a planning resource for Skeet shooters. If your club s flyers are not listed, please send them to us. As I write this, it is Memorial Day weekend. Please take time this weekend to remember those who gave their all so that we can enjoy the freedoms that make our country the envy of many. Then thank a Soldier, Sailor, Marine or Airman for serving to keep those freedoms bought with blood and treasure. Until I see you on the Skeet field or in these pages, I am wishing you 3 @ 8. TBMGC.410 Marathon The Toby Bancroft Memorial Gun Club in West Monroe, Louisiana continued it s Marathon Buckle Race series of shoots with their.410 Marathon held April 19, 2015. The.410 can be a bit intimidating which probably explains the light turnout for this competition. Ten shooters were brave enough to take on 200 targets in the little gun. Charles The Hammer Richardson claimed the Champion honors with a 189. Jared Gay was hot on his heals posting 188 for Runner-Up. Third Place was claimed by Randi Corley with a 183. Here are all the scores: Doug Frey Page 10

The Spring Fling Red Chute Shotgun Sports Club on Barksdale Air Force Base hosted the Spring Fling on April 18, 2015. This shoot was Red Chute s 20 Gauge Marathon and a participating shoot in the Louisiana Marathon Buckle Race. There were 26 shooters taking the field this day. The weather was better than our last shoot [which should have been named the Soggy Open ], but still a bit damp. The shooters spirits were not dampened and several shooters shot personal bests. Jacob Young claimed the 20 Gauge Champion honors with his smoking 197. He was followed closely by Randi Corley who took Runner-Up with her 196. The first 100 of that was her first ever 100 straight. Kadden Crawford who admitted he had not been practicing, posted 194 to take 3rd Place. Jared Gay shot his first 100 straight in the 20 Gauge in the morning. After lunch, he posted a 93 which put him at B1 and JR Third. Jared must have eaten too many fried quail at lunch! Did I mention quail? Yes, Lloyd Webb fried up some delicious quail. I think he has the Colonel s secret recipe. Lloyd also cooked chicken tenders for those with less adventurous palates. Lloyd also prepared a Come Back Sauce that he says is as good as Cain s. The quail and/or chicken was served with green beans and rice and gravy. Lloyd also made some French fries for those who didn t want rice. To finish off our exquisite meal, Cassie Crawford brought a vanilla pound cake and coconut cookies. I am told that the cookies were really good. Somehow, I didn t manage to taste one. They went fast. The cake was certainly delicious. Thank you Lloyd and Cassie for your culinary efforts. Outstanding, yet again! You should have been there! Just sayin. Page 13

Bayou Boeuf 28 Gauge Marathon Wade Jones Bayou Boeuf Skeet Range in LeCompte, Louisiana hosted their annual 28 Gauge Marathon on May 2, 2015. This two field club has plenty of shade. Their central Louisiana location coupled with a generous portion of good old Southern hospitality makes it a favorite for many Louisiana shooters. Twenty seven shooters participated in the 200 target event. Todd Young posted a 194 taking the Champion honors. The scores and winners are shown on the right. Ottis Monroe s Outdoor Catering provided a fried catfish feast. That was delicious. David Hebert brought an assortment of pies from Leas in LeCompte for dessert. No one left hungry! Boiled Crawfish Open The Lafayette Skeet Club hosted the Boiled Crawfish Open on May 3, 2015 at David and Mary Hebert s Farm near Kaplan, Louisiana. Thirty-two competitors participated in this 20 Gauge Marathon 200 Target Event. The pleasant Spring weather enjoyed the day before at the 28 Gauge Marathon in LeCompte continued for Sunday and this shoot. While the weather was mild and not raining for a change, the targets were great and the competition was hot. Kadden Crawford came down from Mena, Arkansas to take the Championship honors posting a 198. Jared Gay posted a 195 to take Runner-Up and Kerry Mire took 3rd Place with a 194. If the competition wasn t spicy enough lunch sure was! Shooters feasted on Boiled Crawfish which were harvested right there on the farm. You can t get them any fresher than that. ROBERT TRAWICK The Hurlburt Clay Target Sports Club and the Skeet shooting community lost one of our most prolific shooters on April 25th, 2015, with the passing of Robert Trawick at the age of 80. Robert was born on November 8th, 1934 in Iron City, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army in the late 1950s, where he was stationed in Germany. A country boy at heart, Robert loved to hunt and shoot Skeet. He could be found most mornings at the Hurlburt Skeet Range practicing with his shooting buddies Joe and Rose Levine. Robert was an avid shotgunner and lived to shoot Skeet, racking up 193,250 lifetime registered targets. He won numerous awards during his Skeet shooting career, including the Florida State Championship 12 Gauge Gun Champion in 1985, 20 Gauge Gun Champion in 1988, and Doubles Champion in 1981, 1982, and 1984. Robert shot in his last registered Skeet tournament at Hurlburt's Emerald Coast Open in March, where he won 20 Gauge Gun Champion outright with a 98. Although he was huffing and puffing like a freight train from the pulmonary fibrosis that eventually claimed his life, he refused to quit in the shoot off of 95s until he won.410 Bore Runner-up; a true testament to his fighting spirit. Robert's one regret was not being able to attend the World Skeet Championships this year and compete as a Senior Veteran. He'll definitely be missed by his family and all his friends and Skeet shooting buddies! Page 35

Funnies A man was sitting reading his papers when his wife hit him round the head with a frying pan. What was that for? the man asked. The wife replied, That was for the piece of paper with the name Jenny on it that I found in your pants pocket. The man then said When I was at the races last week, Jenny was the name of the horse I bet on. The wife apologized and went on with the housework. Three days later the man is watching TV when his wife bashes him on the head with an even bigger frying pan, knocking him unconscious. Upon re-gaining consciousness the man asked why she had hit again. Wife replied. Your horse phoned. Page 48

THE RED CHUTE GAZETTE DEAL Mission Statement The goal of the Red Chute Gazette is to promote the game of American Skeet. Our target market includes Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. Our goal is accomplished through publication and distribution an Internet only magazine containing items of interest to those individuals participating in, promoting and supporting registered skeet shoots. Subject matter includes calendars of upcoming events, shoot flyers, shoot reports and pictures. Also included are articles and stories about bird hunting, travel and food. The Deal The Red Chute Gazette will publish flyers advertising registered skeet shoots for your gun club at no cost to your club. Simply send us your flyer in Microsoft Word or PDF format via E-Mail. That s FREE! The Catch If we agree to publish your shoot flyers, you agree to provide us with a shoot report, write-up or article suitable for printing in the Red Chute Gazette. Include pictures (jpeg or gif files) if possible. It doesn t have to be lengthy and it doesn t have be worthy of a Pulitzer. Just tell or show our readers about the fun you had. What about Sporting Clays and Trap or other events? The mission of the Red Chute Gazette is to promote interest and participation in registered Skeet. Sporting Clays and Trap are not subjects we focus on. We recognize that many gun clubs offer events other than Skeet. We are happy to provide commercial advertising space for clubs that wish to promote other shooting related events... Please contact us for our very reasonable rates for commercial advertisers To take advantage of this service contact Doug Frey by phone at (318) 635-6218 or via E-Mail at publisher@redchutegazette.com. 2015 All Rights Reserved Douglas F.
