Art. 1 Applications for admission may be submitted by pianists, irrespective of nationality, who will be under the age of 36 years on the opening day of the Contest. The winner of the First Prize in last year s Verona International Piano Competition is debarred from entering. Art. 2 - Assessment Criteria S E L Candidate assessment is based on votes expressed in decimals, and will disregard both the highest and the lowest vote cast. The number of candidates admitted to the semifinal test is at the discretion of the Jury. In the final test, to which no more than 3 candidates will be admitted, each member of the Jury will express an individual rating by assigning one of the whole values 1, 2 and 3 respectively to whom he/she considers to be the first, second and third ranking candidate. The winning candidate will be the one with the lowest cumulative mark. Moreover, it is also on the basis of this individual rating that the Jury will decide whether or not to award the various prizes. U Art. 3 - The Jury Members of the Jury will not be allowed to present their own pupils. In accordance with this proviso, once the closing list of applicants is known to the Artistic Director, interested members of the Jury are obliged to declare that they are debarred from voting on one or more particular candidates.
Art. 4 - Course of Events The sequence of the competitors for ound 1 and for trials on the piano of the Competition will be announced at the opening reception on Tuesday 6th October, 2015 (from 11.00 to 19.00 hours) All competitors must be present at the Auditorium Monteverdi of the Conservatorio di Musica of Mantova S E L Absentees at the start of activities will be excluded from tests save for serious and proven reasons accepted as such by the Artitstic Management. The Competition Office has the right to make changes to the order of the competitors on any particular day for organizational purposes. Before commencement of tests, candidates will be requested to hand in the original musical score used by them during their preparation. Failing this, the Arbitral Committee reserves the right to exclude the candidate from the Competition. Art. 5 - Venues for the tests - The Preliminary and Semifinal test will take place at Auditorium " Monteverdi " of the Conservatorio di Musica "L. Campiani" in Mantova, via Conciliazione n. 33 - MANTOVA - The Finals at the Teatro Filarmonico, via dei Mutilati - VEONA At the close of the semi-final tests, in the evening of 9th. October, the three finalists will be accompanied to Verona where they will be accommodated in a hotel at the total expense of the Organization for the nights of 9th and 10th October. Art. 6 - Pianos S E L The secretarial staff will advise competitors of the hours during which the Concert Piano will be made available for appraisal; same goes for practice on other pianos placed at their temporary disposal by the Conservatorio di Musica of Mantova. U Art. 7 - ecordings Competitors can lay no claim, financial or otherwise, on electronic recordings made during the phases of the Contest.
Art. 8 - Prizes - egarding all prize winners The sum of 500 Euros will be paid in cash on the evening of the awards ceremony. ----------------------------------------------------- egarding the First Prize winner The sum of 2.500,00 Euros will be paid by bank transfer within thirty days of the prizegiving ceremony; the remaining amount of 2.000 Euros by way of honorarium for the tournée organized by the Competition Secretariat, who will also bear the costs of lodging and meals. ----------------------------------------------------- S E L - egarding Second and Third Prizes The remaining sum will be totally paid out by bank transfer within thirty days of the prizegiving ceremony. ----------------------------------------------------- U - Special Awards To be paid in cash on the evening of the prizegiving ceremony.
Art. 9 - Sundry egulations In the unpredictable event that technical, artistic or organizational impediments interfere with the planned running of the Contest, the Artistic Director shall assume the right to make emergency decisions. All interested parties will in such circumstances be contacted directly, and the candidates' entry fees promptly refunded. All personal expenses connected with the participants' board and lodging must be borne by them directly. On minor disputes not covered by the above rules the Artistic Director's decision is taken as final; unlikely serious or legal controversies must be referred to the Law Courts of Verona.
