This contract shall become void if not returned within 30 days of date listed above. (Discounts may apply for proven producers/performers or multiple mares, please inquire.) Stud fee payable as follows: $500 non-refundable booking fee due when this contract is signed and returned. $4500 balance of stud fee is due prior to semen shipment or release of the mare from ISU LVMC. PLEASE MAKE ALL PORTIONS OF THE STUD FEE PAYABLE TO: SCHECKEL PAINT & QUARTER HORSES The following are the terms and conditions of the contract: 1. A separate service contract will be signed between Mare Owner and ISU LVMC. This service contract will outline all fees for on-site breeding at ISU LVMC (routine breeding management package fee) and shipped semen fees. 2. For on-site breeding at ISU LVMC, Stallion Management will exercise judgment in care and supervision of mare and/or foal. A veterinarian will examine mare for normal breeding conditions and will administer medical care as deemed necessary for the health and safety of the mare and/or foal. All veterinary and farrier expenses for mare and/or foal will be paid by Mare Owner prior to departure from ISU LVMC. 3. Mare shall be healthy, in sound breeding condition and current on all vaccinations (specifically EWT, Flu/Rhino) and deworming. 4. The Stallion Owner & Management agrees to diligently try to settle the mare and/or provide quality tested semen for shipment. If, however, the mare does not settle, the Stallion Owner and Stallion Management will not be held responsible. 5. If for any reason the mare is unable to be settled in a reasonable period of time another mare may be substituted during the same season, with the approval of the Stallion Owner. 6. This breeding comes with a live foal guarantee. A live foal shall stand and nurse (or be hand fed), for a period of 72 hours, provided the death is not due to accident unrelated to the foaling. If the mare is proven barren, aborts her foal, the foal is stillborn or the mare dies prior to foaling, the mare owner shall be entitled to return privileges. This will apply only if the Stallion Owner is notified within one week that the mare has been confirmed not in foal or foal/mare has died. This notice must be accompanied by a veterinarian s statement. Under the foregoing circumstances and upon receipt of the specified notice, it is agreed: a. Stallion Owner shall give to Mare Owner a return privilege to the stallion the following year only and to the same mare originally booked (unless otherwise mutually agreed in writing between Mare Owner and Stallion Owner). b. If Mare Owner fails to deliver the mare (or a substitute mare if mutually agreed as stated above) for re-breeding the following year, then any and all fees paid shall be forfeited; the right
to rebreed is thereby cancelled and the Stallion Owner is released from any further obligation whatsoever. c. If the mare dies or becomes unfit to breed then another mare may be substituted if approved by the Stallion Owner. 7. There will be a $250 rebreed fee payable to ISU LVMC, prior to return privileges. 8. It is further agreed that should the above stallion die or become unfit for service, frozen semen may be available or the Mare Owner may choose an approved stallion owned by the Stallion Owner to fulfill the breeding commitment. There will be no refund of any part of the stud fee. 9. The Breeder s Certificate will be issued only after all stud fees and/or veterinary/board and/or semen shipping expenses have been paid. 10. Mare Owner understands that the Stallion Owner, the attending veterinarian(s) and/or their agents, employees and Stallion Management will not be held responsible for injury, escape, sickness or death to mare and/or foal and assume no liability for injury or death to any person associated with Mare Owner. 11. This contract is not transferable and Mare Owner may not assign any rights or delegate any duties without the written consent of the Stallion Owner. In the event the mare is sold or otherwise disposed of prior to the birth of the foal, the Live Foal Guarantee will no longer be valid (unless Stallion Owner is notified of transfer of ownership). 12. The Mare Owner must have their mare checked for pregnancy between 15 and 17 days postovulation. Pregnancy reports or requests for semen shipments should be sent to Dr. Galow-Kersh at ISU LVMC. Mares will not be listed on the Stallion Report if a positive pregnancy/updated pregnancy status has not been reported to ISU LVMC by September 1, 2012. After this date, Mare Owner is responsible for late filing fees associated with listing the mare on the stallion report. 13. The breeding season will open February 1 st and close June 30 th. 14. This contract is governed by the laws of Story County and the State Of Iowa. If the mare is to be picked up after hours, prior arrangements for payment will need to be made with the receptionists in the form of a credit card. 3. Mare shall be healthy, in sound breeding condition and current on all vaccinations (specifically EWT, Flu/Rhino) and deworming and have a negative coggins test within the last 12 months. The ISU LVMC attending veterinarian retains the authority to vaccinate and/or deworm any mare presented to ISU LVMC for breeding should they deem appropriate; all charges will be billed directly to the Mare Owner. 4. Additional fees including but not limited to farrier, uterine biopsy, uterine culture, uterine antibiotic treatments, caslicks, sedation, etc. are not part of the routine breeding management package and will be billed to Mare Owner. 5. ISU LVMC agrees to diligently try to settle the mare. If, however, she does not settle, the Stallion Owner and Stallion Management will not be held responsible. 6. I understand that the Stallion Owner, the attending veterinarian(s) and/or their agents, employees and Stallion Management will not be held responsible for injury, escape, sickness or death to mare and/or foal and assume no liability for injury or death to any person associated with Mare Owner.

Semen orders must be confirmed by 8 AM CST on the day of collection (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Priority will be given to requests with the most advance notice. All semen requests must be made to ISU LVMC. 2. Should there be a lack of semen for all requests on any given collection day, Stallion Management has the authority to dictate which mares receive the semen. Priority is given to mares at ISU LVMC facility. If available, frozen semen will be offered. 3. Shipping fees must be paid prior to semen shipment. ISU LVMC accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover; this credit card will be maintained on file as a shipping container deposit (see below). 4. Shipping containers must be returned to ISU LVMC within 4 business days or the Mare Owner will be charged $300 for an Equitainer or $30 for the Equine Express Box on the above provided credit card. 5. ISU LVMC cannot be held liable for semen once the shipment leaves the ISU LVMC facility. 6. Please fill out the attached Shipped Semen Request Form.
