Advancement to State Finals With the return to the two region format and splitting Division 1 into a separate regional event, the initial expectation was the Top 3 teams in each problem advance. This assumption was based on expectation that the number of teams participating in each problem would be equivalent. Adjustments were made to the advancement numbers to reflect any disparity in team participation between regions. Capacity limitations at the State Finals venue is also a factor in determining advancement numbers. General advancement guidelines for 2015-2016 <4 teams, case by case evaluation 4-12 teams, top 3 advance >12 teams, top 4 advance
