Foreword Beginning of a new era. With the introduction of the JAM, 01E and Vice, we already introduced three Mountainbikes in 2016. The FOCUS Mountain Range evolved quickly to multiple test-winners in international magazines. Not only unique in its design but also a benchmark in weight, function and technology, FOCUS proofed not only to be a carbon and aluminium specialist with their engineering in Stuttgart, Germany but also their understanding of building modern bikes from riders for riders. A principle that was super important by founding the brand in 1993 by three-time Worldchampion Mike Kluge himself. With the introduction of two new Mountainbikes² FOCUS is now stepping up their game with two groundbreaking bikes including their own TAILORED ENERGY CONCEPT (T.E.C.) as well as their own patented suspension technology called the FOCUS OPTIMIZED LINKAGE DESIGN. No compromises every decision towards performance². This all-mountain FOCUS E-Bike has modern geometry that exacts an aggressive riding style. The bottom bracket drive axle, which is positioned as far back as possible, enables the use of a short chain stay, thus creating an extremely agile electric mountain bike. The compact design of the Shimano Steps MTB drive means that the Q-factor remains at a low 175 mm. As a result, the JAM² has the same pedal position as mountain bikes that don t have a drive so you can ride around bends just as quickly and dynamically without having to hit the ground, regardless of whether you re on an uphill or a downhill stretch. A further indulgence for any rider comes from the JAM² s use of the new FOCUS F.O.L.D. rear suspension design. Given the low positioning of the F.O.L.D. linkage in the centre of the frame, we ve been able to achieve a centralised, low centre of gravity, helped in part by the closed rear triangle. As a consequence, the JAM² marries a balanced handling package with intoxicating performance. The responsive F.O.L.D. design generates enormous amounts of traction and willingly absorbs bumps, acting as a huge confidence-booster for entry-level all-mountain riders. For more advanced riders, this same fusion lends itself to aggressive, more dominating riding even on the toughest terrain. But whatever the ability, all riders will appreciate how the low centre of gravity and playful handling keeps the bike planted on all terrain. Three versions of usage VERSION 1 Your JAM² with integrated battery. Clean look, low centre of gravity, extremely good handling. VERSION 2 Your JAM² with integrated battery and additional energy pack. The T.E.C. pack, your additional battery, is easy and flexible to install. The Bone Rail, where you simply click in your T.E.C. pack, is simply secured to the down tube first using the two screws supplied. A cable connects the T.E.C. pack to the contact in the top tube and thus quickly and easily ensures an additional energy supply from the robust additional battery. VERSION 3 A further option allows you to use the Smart Rack. Mount your bottle cage on your Smart Rack, and during your ride you can switch between water bottle and T.E.C. pack with one click. The base for using your Smart Rack is the previously mounted Bone Rail. You can even take extra equipment, such as a spare tube, along with you using the holder integrated in the Smart Rack. Thanks to the integrated magnets, the connection cable (T.E.C. connector) can also run along the top tube and is only used if you attach your T.E.C. pack. In your Hardtail BOLD² you have an additional option to mount a water bottle to the the seat tube.
Focus optimized linkage design On the hunt for the ultimate riding experience, FOCUS developed and patented an entirely new suspension design. This technology has been optimized to deliver performance in the widest range of circumstances. We call this system the FOCUS OPTIMIZED LINK- AGE DESIGN. F.O.L.D. embodies the ultimate rear suspension performance. Enabling our engineers to optimize the linkage to a great variety of demands and to ensure the highest level of fun on any adventures.
two phases TRAVEL ARRANGEMENT The system s travel is divided in two phases. Within the first phase of travel, the system works degressively for super sensitivity, thereby eliminating microbumps and generating immense grip. The second phase of the travel offers fine tuned progression for both plushness and feedback while still ensuring enough bottom-out resistance. So the rider is always in control of the bike. To match this technology and to generate the ultimate riding performance we use only dedicated tuned shocks. THE LINKAGE The Guidelink affects the rear end stiffness. Our engineers have worked on the balance between rigidity and forgiveness of the chassis. The dimensioning of the Mainlink and Guidelink has been designed to form the ultimate combination of rear end stiffness and maximum grip even when riding through the deepest ruts and the roughest corners. GUIDELINK MAINLINK CENTRALISED MASS All suspension hardware is located in the frame s center. The resulting low center of gravity enables superb handling that gives you extra confidence, especially on technical terrain and cornering. The optimized centralised mass affects the riding dynamic as well as the great handling of the bike.
one piece rear triangle The core of the F.O.L.D. design is the one piece rear triangle, which results not only in massive weight savings but also significantly minimizes the unsprung weight. All bearings are centralised in the main frame. As a result of that all suspension hardware is secure of mud-spray from the backwheel. additional benefits The FD-Mount on the BURRITO BRIDGE is an innovative feature for all who still want to run a 2by-setup. For all others simply dismount it. A feature, which not only saves weight but also looks damn good.
