-The City of Waverly Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee- Public Meeting Notice The City of Waverly is beginning the planning process for the revision of their Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan considers the city s susceptibleness to potential and historical impacts of natural and man-made hazards. The intent of the plan is to identify mitigation strategies that can be implemented to reduce negative effects caused by these hazards. In addition, with this plan in place the city will remain eligible for federal hazard mitigation grant programs. The City of Waverly believes you may be able to contribute to the planning process. A series of meetings will be held to gather public input in relation to historic, ongoing, and future mitigation efforts made by the city. If you are unable to attend this first meeting please feel free to send written comments or questions to the Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments at 229 East Park Avenue, Waterloo, IA 50703, Attn: Adam or you may call (319) 235-0311. Please encourage others to attend these meetings. Public input is a vital aspect of the planning process. You will be notified of future meetings as they are scheduled. July 30, 2008 TO: Waverly HMP Stakeholder FROM: Adam Roberts, Housing Planner, INRCOG Subject: The City of Waverly Hazard Mitigation Committee This letter is to inform you of upcoming meetings for the City of Waverly s Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee. This plan needs to be revised in order to comply with federal requirements. The plan will allow the city to remain eligible for several mitigation programs offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In addition, the plan will provide the city with mitigation strategies to reduce negative impacts of reoccurring hazards. We anticipate there will be three to four meetings, most of which will occur before the end of January. Upon completion of the planning sessions a draft of the plan will be submitted to the Iowa Emergency Management Division. More specifics regarding requirements will be explained at the first meeting. At the first meeting we will introduce the purpose and benefits of the plan, review historical data, set broad goals for the plan, define various hazards and decide on the next meeting date. An agenda has been included for your review. Thank you for your time and cooperation. If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (319)235-0311. If you prefer email, my address is aroberts@inrcog.org Sincerely, Adam Roberts Housing Planner, INRCOG Enclosures - Meeting Notice - Agenda
