Crew SC won 3-1 at Red Bull Arena last Oct. 19, their first win at the Red Bulls since 2010. The Red Bulls had won two of the four home meetings in between, with two draws. Coaches record: Jesse Marsch vs. CLB: P4 W2 L2 D0 Gregg Berhalter vs. NYR: P4 W1 L2 D1 LAST MEETING (MLS) 3/28: CLB 1, NYR 2 (Tchani 58 Wright-Phillips 49; Grella 67) The game's first break came three minutes after the halftime interval. Red Bulls winger Lloyd Sam broke free in the Columbus box before Emanuel Pogatetz took his legs out with a sliding tackle, and referee Sorin Stoica pointed to the spot. Bradley Wright-Phillips took the penalty well, putting a hard shot past a diving Steve Clark. Ten minutes later, the home side found their equalizer. An Federico Higuain free kick took a deflection and was allowed to bounce through the New York box, and Tony Tchani was well-placed at the back post to put it in. The game-winner came at the three-quarter mark. Crew captain Michael Parkhurst tried to dribble around a pair of Red Bulls in defense, but saw the ball bounce off an opponent's leg directly to Mike Grella, and he placed a perfectly weighted chip over Clark's head. Crew SC finished the match a man down when Higuain was sent off in the 84th minute for dissent, receiving a second yellow card from Stoica. COLUMBUS CREW SC (4-2-3-1): Steve Clark - Hernan Grana, Michael Parkhurst, Emanuel Pogatetz, Chris Klute (Aaron Schoenfeld 82) - Mohammed Saeid, Tony Tchani - Ethan Finlay (Hector Jimenez 74), Federico Higuain (ejected 83), Kristinn Steindorsson (Ben Speas 64) - Kei Kamara. COLUMBUS CREW SC Columbus Crew SC made it three games without loss, twice coming back in a 2-2 draw with Real Salt Lake on Saturday evening at Rio Tinto Stadium. Crew SC are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 21 points from 17 matches. LAST MATCH Real took the lead in the 36th minute through a brilliantly executed set piece. RSL midfielder Luke Mulholland slipped the free kick to the top of the box, where Kyle Beckerman one-timed it over the top of the defense to Joao Plata. He placed a perfect header to the back post for Olmes Garcia, who slotted the ball home. But Crew SC pulled level just six minutes, when Tony Tchani turned home a perfectly placed cross from Hector Jimenez in the center of the penalty area. Real again nosed in front just after halftime. Abdoulie Mansally launched a long ball downfield from his own end, and as Crew SC defender Emanuel Pogatetz and goalkeeper Steve Clark tried to communicate as the ball bounced just outside the area, Sebastian Jaime slipped in and poked the ball over Clark and into the goal. Yet Crew SC leveled terms again in the 62nd minute. Striker Kei Kamara played a clever pass to Federico Higuain, who then played a square ball to the back post, where Ethan Finlay was waiting. RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando tried to cut the pass out at the last second, but it found Finlay first for a simple finish. Things turned tenuous for RSL when young forward Jordan Allen was shown red in the 77th minute, just 10 minutes after entering the match as a substitute, but the home team held out. Crew SC head coach Gregg Berhalter made no changes to his team for a second consecutive match, keeping the group that came back for a 2-1 win against the New England Revolution at Mapfre Stadium. COLUMBUS CREW SC (4-2-3-1): Steve Clark - Hector Jimenez (Chad Barson 62), Michael Parkhurst, Emanuel Pogatetz, Waylon Francis (Tyson Wahl 81) - Mohammed Saeid, Tony Tchani - Ethan Finlay, Federico Higuain, Justin Meram (Kristinn Steindorsson 67) - Kei Kamara. TEAM NEWS Crew SC made it a win and two draws from their last three matches, but they saw their road winless streak extended to eight matches, 0-4-4 on their travels since the start of the season. It s not easy to play here. Traditionally it s a very strong home team, said Crew SC boss Gregg Berhalter. To go down twice wasn t easy. But I think it was determination by the guys, with some good ball movement and we clawed our way back into it and got a point. Said Ethan Finlay: I think once we settled in we played our style and found our identity. Credit to them, they were really good on the counter. We were disappointed with the result. After they got that red card we thought we could nick one late, but we'll take a point and go home. Finlay scored a goal and added an assist, now with 10 assists on the season, leading Major League Soccer. Finlay has an assist in three consecutive matches. Kei Kamara picked up his third assist of the season, still leading the MLS Golden Boot standings with 12 goals. Kamara has two goals and an assist in the last two matches. Federico Higuain collected his third assist of the season, his first since May 22. Higuain has two goals and an assist over the last four contests. Berhalter maintained the same starting lineup for a third consecutive match, the second time this season he s kept the same first XI for three games in a row (also: April 18-May 2). Crew SC also made it three games in a row where they ve come back to secure points after allowing the opening goal. They had lost their first six games this season when conceding first; Crew SC have given up the first goal in five consecutive games. What's positive is that we've come back in the last three games, Berhalter said. Even though we were down a goal, we got back in the game. In two of those games we got a point and in one we got three I think over the course of the season you need to have this stored in your memory bank of what the team can achieve even after going down a goal. That's important. I think the guys certainly believe they can get back in it. On Tuesday, Crew SC were bounced out of the U.S. Open Cup, falling 2-0 to Orlando City SC in their fifthround match at the Citrus Bowl. Here s the Crew SC team: Brad Stuver; Chad Barson, Emanuel Pogatetz, Tyson Wahl; Tony Tchani (Wil Trapp 74'), Kevan George; Chris Klute, Ben Speas (Justin Meram 65'), Adam Bedell (Romain Gall 46'), Kristinn Steindorsson; Aaron Schoenfeld MLS GAME INFORMATION

NEW YORK RED BULLS The New York Red Bulls won their second game on the trot, storming back from a halftime deficit to claim a 3-1 win against New York City FC on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. The Red Bulls are in a tie for third place in the Eastern Conference with 23 points from 16 matches. LAST MATCH NYCFC went in front just six minutes into the contest. Thomas McNamara took a Mix Diskerud cross that was headed on by Andrew Jacobson off his chest and slotted inside the right-hand post of goalkeeper Luis Robles. But the Red Bulls took command after the break. Two minutes into the second half, Bradley Wright-Phillips leveled for the Red Bulls, first-timing a superb Sacha Kljestan cross with his left foot from 12 yards out. The Red Bulls then took the lead in the 52nd minute from a free kick when Chris Duvall hammered home at the far post after Anatole Abang headed on a Mike Grella cross. The visitors put the game away in the 73rd minute. Kljestan floated a free kick from the right flank toward the back post, where center back Matt Miazga rose up and snuck in a downward header. Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch made three changes to the team that defeated Real Salt Lake 1-0 at Red Bull Arena. Chris Duvall and Ronald Zubar came into the back four and Sacha Kljestan came back into the midfield, replacing Connor Lade, Damien Perrinelle and Sean Davis. NEW YORK RED BULLS (4-2-3-1): Luis Robles - Chris Duvall, Matt Miazga, Ronald Zubar (Damien Perrinelle 46), Kemar Lawrence - Dax McCarty, Felipe Martins - Mike Grella (Manolo Sanchez 84), Sacha Kljestan, Bradley Wright-Phillips - Anatole Abang (Sal Zizzo 67). TEAM NEWS The Red Bulls won a second consecutive match after a four-game losing streak and a five-game winless run in league play overall. They have won back-to-back games for just the second time this season (also: March 22 vs. D.C. United; March 28 vs. Columbus). We talked a lot, especially in the four game losing stretch, learning about ourselves, growing as individuals and as a team and a lot of it has been... a competitive edge, a killer instinct, the sense of and belief that when the times are toughest that we were going to respond, said Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch. When we were down 1-0, I felt like we systematically went about the game knowing that it was going to come. Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his sixth goal of the season, his first since hitting for a brace May 10 in the opening victory vs. New York City FC. We just weren t getting in the right areas, Wright-Phillips said. There were some good crosses, but me, [Anatole] Abang and Mike [Grella] weren t getting on the end of them. [In the second half,] we put more effort into and it showed. Sacha Kljestan collected a pair of assists, now with three assists this season. It was Kljestan s third career multiple-assist game in MLS, his first since 2007, when he did it twice for Chivas USA. Sacha's just rounding into form and we need him. We need him to be our brain. We need him to make plays for us because that's what we brought him in for so he's been steadily getting better every game and hopefully this is a game where his confidence just goes through the roof and that he can continue this form, said Dax McCarty. Anatole Abang made his second consecutive start as the lone out-and-out striker, collecting his first career assist. Abang has two goals and an assist in the last four games. Matt Miazga scored his first career MLS goal, in his third professional season. Miazga was making a second consecutive start after his return from the FIFA U-20 World Cup. A major goal of mine was to help [Miazga] establish himself within our group. He's a talented man. He's got a lot of ability and now it's turning a young man into a man, into a pro, into a real center back, said Marsch. He's making big strides this year. We know he's only going to get better from here. Chris Duvall also scored his first career MLS goal, in his second season. Duvall returned to the starting lineup after coming off the substitutes bench for the RSL match. Chris has had a very good year for us. It's just a couple of moments 1-v-1 defensively he's let a guy get a little bit of room on him and then maybe they get a shot or a cross that has led to a goal, said Marsch. I've told him often as a defender you're judged by how many mistakes that lead to goals. If he can clean that up, all the other good things that he does for us would show up more. On Wednesday, the Red Bulls advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup with a 4-1 victory against the NASL New York Cosmos at Red Bull Arena. Sal Zizzo, Anatole Abang, Sacha Kljestan and Mike Grella all scored for the Red Bulls. Here s the RBNY team: Luis Robles, Connor Lade, Matt Miazga, Damien Perrinelle, Chris Duvall (Anthony Wallace 87), Lloyd Sam (Mike Grella 65), Sacha Kljestan (Felipe Martins 76), Dax McCarty, Sean Davis, Sal Zizzo, Anatole Abang.
