UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN OHIO PROSPECT CAMP EVALUATIONS Outfield Evaluations Jacob Arthur Jacob showed a good fundamental understanding of the position. His reaction was very admirable

Racers Showcase Prospect Camp Fielding Evaluations October 22, 2017 Players Name/ Position Grade/ Technique Arm Velocity Jacob Arthur OF 20/20 82 - Jacob moved extremely loose to the ball with a good understanding of the positional basics. Continue working to refine those skills and once Jacob grows into his body he will be an exceptional outfielder. Luke Floyd OF 20/20 72 - Luke had a very loose arm action which is indicative of his ability to continue to gain arm strength in the outfield, needs to continue to long-toss and gain that velocity from the outfield. Luke was stiff approaching the ball, would benefit from some mobility exercises and become more comfortable in his position. Michael Ashcraft OF 20/20 74 - Michael needs to work on the basic fundamentals of the outfield position. Michael was caught fielding the ball to deep which leads to a delayed release time of throwing the ball. Work on getting the ball out front and coming through the ball more. In addition Michael needs to work on his arm strength and the best avenue of doing so is by long-toss. Graydon Stauffer OF 25/25 82 - Graydon was exceptional at understanding the movements in the outfield. The main point of emphasis would be to start his forward tilt earlier, allowing him to get his glove to the ground sooner. Had a tendency to field the top of the ball again delaying his release time. Use the glove to bring his arm through. Sam Williams OF 25/25 83 - Sam has really good instincts and movements in the outfield, continue to use the weighted balls to gain even more arm strength because the arm action was a little long. Jason Cross 1B 25/25 73 - Jason was very defensive when it came to receiving the ball from across the infield. When fielding the ball Jason needs to sit lower, in a more athletic position. Matthew Boes 1B 20/20 73 - Matthew is a big bodied athlete that is very versatile. Matthews s awareness around the bag is natural and instinctual. Defensively needs work on becoming softer with his movements, allowing him to be a shutdown force on the infield. Catching 2.3 2.18 POP 25 Technique - Matthew showed very well at this position, demonstrated good anticipation for off speed with good hip mobility allowing him to set up low in his primary. On the negative side Matthew would carry borderline calls further out of the zone, work on becoming stronger receiving the baseball. Braden Halford INF 25/25 75 - Braden had a tendency to field the ball too deep in his stance, needs to find a center lane and gain ground to first base. Took too many steps to breakdown and find his power position. Was thoroughly impressed with how well his hands were able to take him to the ball. Work on syncing up the feet and the hands and Braden will be an impressive MIF.

Racers Showcase Prospect Camp Fielding Evaluations October 22, 2017 Anthony Scali INF 25/25 73 - Anthony needs to work on gaining more ground to his target, had a tendency to stop all momentum once the ball was fielded. Again, I was impressed with Anthony as an athlete has some very admirable traits as an athlete. Continue to work on the arm strength and getting stronger and Anthony will see a ton of success at the next level. Louis Hoersten INF 20/20 75 - Louis had a very clean and smooth arm action, with that being said Louis needs to work on gaining more velocity. Louis s speed allows him to obtain a good position on the baseball while fielding, still needs to work on the basic fundamentals of the position. Main point of emphasis would be to continue to gain momentum to your target. Luke Floyd INF 20/20 74 - Luke needs to develop a lower center of gravity while fielding the ball, he has a tendency to field the top of the ball and get his chest too far over the receiving process. See the ball out front and not so deep within your sight line. Joshua Anderson INF 20/20 77 - Joshua had a good, clean arm action which aided in his INF velocity. Continue to improve that part of your game. Joshua also would field the ball off of his heels and not attack the baseball. Do not be so hesitant when approaching the baseball. Alexander Hasan INF 15/15 65 - Alexander presented himself as robotic, this has many factors that constrained his natural athletic ability. First, Alexander needs to work on good athletic movements, become more fluid with his preparations. Becoming more athletic will alleviate the, standing tall while fielding, fielding the ball too deep, and lack of arm strength. There is a lot of upside to Alexander, but needs to dedicate his time and efforts to becoming better. Jacob Libecap INF 20/20 72 - Jacob has an extremely narrow base while fielding the ball again, this lends himself to being so over top of the ball and not having a good sightline to field the baseball in the most effective and efficient way. Work on sinking lower in your legs to field the baseball. Chase Weaver INF 20/20 71 - Chase, work on developing your arm strength, you had a tendency to stop your arm before the release which took a drastic effect on your infield velocity. The best remedy for stopping your arm is airing out some long-toss, and the transitioning that same throw into the infield. Tyler Rothert C 20/20 2.7-2.5 POP Time - Tyler is a very coachable individual, and with continued coaching has the ability to be a collegiate athlete. First needs to work on arm strength and becoming stronger while maintaining flexibility. Behind the plate, receiving fastballs was natural while receiving breaking balls Tyler had a tendency to trace the pitch instead of anticipate the end result. Joshua Smith C 25/20 1.97 2.1 POP Time - Joshua had an impressive catch, release with that being said he jumped into the throw. When receiving he moved a lot making the pitchers have to find an alternative target of focus. This caused a late set-up and would get beat on some pitches. Another thing was the lack of anticipation and more tracing the pitch of a breaking ball. Continue to improve and refine behind the plate, has a TON of upside.

Connor Racers Showcase Prospect Camp Fielding Evaluations October 22, 2017

Racers Showcase Prospect Camp Hitter Evaluation October 22, 2017 (RH/LH/S)Player Name Grade (Technique/Power) Exit Velo RH Jacob Arthur 20/20 Exit Velo: 80 83 Jacob, your swing is a bit stiff and you need to incorporate some rhythm. You do a great job of getting the barrel on plane, which is why you see a lot of line drives and balls elevated in the cage. One big flaw that I see is that you get around the ball with your hands on pitches that are middle/in. Really work hard on cracking the ribs, and releasing that barrel prior to contact to help with getting around the baseball. RH Jason Cross 25/25 Exit Velo: 88 91 Jason, as I mentioned to you at camp I have seen great improvements from each time you have been to a camp; keep working hard my man and you will see even bigger gains. One thing that I see you need to work on is that you need to work hard on not being so mechanical in your timing. What I mean by this is that you are in such a hurry to get your foot down that you stop all momentum thus becoming stagnant. Work hard on being on time and letting your long levers work throughout the swing. RH Matthew Boes 30/25 Exit Velo: 88 90 Matthew, you have a very good swing and shows quick hands to the baseball. You are a guy at the next level that is going to hit in the middle of a lineup because of your strength and size. One area I would suggest to work on, make sure that you are not flying open with your front shoulder. So many times when guys want to pull the baseball they fly open, this then causes them to get long and around the baseball. Think in your head elbow lead this may help with your shoulder flying open. LH Braden Holford 25/25 Exit Velo: 81 85 Braden, if you take nothing from this camp or this evaluation please remember this: BE ON TIME. You have a good swing, but you are late with everything. Really, work on getting into your legs and getting off your backside. It was as if you were trying to hit every pitch backside. Let the barrel fly man, it is a lot of fun to hit when you do that. LH Anthony Scali 20/20 Exit Velo: 73 75 Anthony, just as I mentioned to Braden above, BE ON TIME. You have a good swing, but you are late with everything. I can tell from watching you hit today that you have an oppo approach. Nothing is wrong with that; just understand that if that is your approach then you need to look for pitches to hit that way. You can t just hit everything the other way. RH Tyler Rothert 20/20 Exit Velo: 72 76 Tyler, right away, I want to tell you to get in the weight room. You have a future in this game but need to get stronger. Really, work on getting into your legs and getting off your backside. Focus on trying to stay off your heels and getting on plane with the pitch. RH Joshua Smith 30/25 Exit Velo: 83 85 Josh, love the leg kick! I know we talked a bit at camp about this bu I think you need to incorporate it on every swing. Loved your athletic setup. You looked like a hitter who was ready to do damage. Your bat path matched the plane of the pitch and you stayed through contact well.

Racers Showcase Prospect Camp Hitter Evaluation October 22, 2017 (RH/LH/S)Player Name Grade (Technique/Power) Exit Velo RH Louis Hoersten 20/20 Exit Velo: 70 73 Louis, right away, I want to tell you to get in the weight room. You have a future in this game but need to get stronger. Really, work on getting into your legs and getting off your backside. You had a lot of barrel movement pre pitch and at times, it caused you to be late. Soft subtle movements is all it takes. Get in the weight room and get stronger. RH Luke Floyd 20/20 Exit Velo: 71 74 Luke, you are a guy that can run and we need to focus on you getting to contact quickly and putting the ball on the ground to put pressure on the defense. I thought your swing got long at times, really focus on keeping your hands inside the ball. USE YOUR LEGS!!!!! RH Josh Anderson 25/20 Exit Velo: 78 83 Josh, loved your athletic setup. You looked like a hitter who was ready to do damage. Sometimes you get a bit big on balls but that is ok because as you get older and stronger your strength will help make up for this. My advice to you would be to eat everything you can and fall in love with the weight room. Putting some size and strength on you will help you out tremendously. RH Michael Ashcraft 20/20 Exit Velo: 69 74 Michael, you had a lot going on pre pitch. It s good to have some movement but it need to be under control and in rhythm. You did a great job of getting your hands inside of the baseball. Focus on trying to get into a more athletic positon while staying off your heels. Keep working man, remember hitting is simple it s just not that easy. RH Jacob Libecamp 20/20 Exit Velo: 72 81 Jacob, as you move onto to the next level will look to hit in the middle of the order. In or for you to have success we need to shorten up your swing and really focus on getting your hands inside the baseball. Keep playing with the timing of that until you get comfortable. You really never used your legs in your swing. Use them, they are the strongest muscles you have. Create some direction towards the pitcher in the swing. Lastly, SWING HARD! RH Grayden Stauffer 20/20 Exit Velo: 76 78 Grayden, you do a toe touch when it comes to your timing. That is perfectly fine if you do it but you need to make sure that you are on time every time. Make sure not to swing down on the ball but swing to elevate. Keep playing with the timing of that until you get comfortable. You really never used your legs in your swing. Use them, they are the strongest muscles you have. RH Alexander Hasan 20/15 Exit Velo: 67 70 Alexander, there are a few things that you need to work on to become a more consistent hitter. You have to find a way to get your legs more involved in your swing. Make sure when you stride that your stride takes you towards the pitcher and not away from the strike zone. Focus on trying to get into a more athletic positon while staying off your heels. Keep working man, remember hitting is simple it s just not that easy.

Racers Showcase Prospect Camp Hitter Evaluation October 22, 2017 RH Chase Weaver 20/20 Exit Velo: 78 80 Chase, I want to tell you to get in the weight room. You have a future in this game but need to get stronger. Really, work on getting into your legs and getting off your backside.. You have a good separation with your front foot and your hands during your stride and load. This puts you in a pretty good hitting position. I would like to see you more on the balls on your feet once that front heel hits the ground.
