Dear athletes, fans of sport, mountains and adventure, July 14th 2018 www.oravaman.sk we are honored to share with you this race manual of the upcoming 8th edition of Oravaman. Through the years we gained experience and learned a lot about the organization of the event. We always wanted to keep improving and bring you race like no other. After 7 years, Oravaman will get a new look and quality. We hope, that this manual will provide you all important information about the race. Reading, understandig and following the manual will help to both sides athletes and organizers. The 8th Oravaman will offer in total 300 slots in half distance triathlon with 3000 m of elevation and 30 slots for relays, which will race on the same distance and course, like the individuals. Apart of the main race we will organize Championship of Ministry of Interior in Triathlon, dedicated to policemen, firemen and mountain rescuers. We will also organize a traditional Oravaman Kids race and Oravaman Beek kilometer, both on Friday. As you may know, Oravaman is the leading race of the Oravaman Extreme Tour, together with two challenging races - Goralman and JÁNOŠÍK Slovak Xtreme Triathlon. The O.E.T. trilogy was established in 2016 and 12 brave finishers completed all three races. In 2017 there were 25 athletes trying to complete the trilogy, but only 14 finished all three of them. Please read this race manual carefuly and prepare well for this unique race. Oravaman is very challenging race which requires lot of trainig, concentration, determination and humility. We wish you good luck in the lottery and hope to see you in July in Zuberec. Our main goal is to keep improving and being fancied and unique. Since the beginning, the race is situated at the picteresque Penzión Pribiskô in Zuberec, our race center and homestay. Besides the main race, we organize and accompanying race Championship of Ministry of Interior in triathlon. This race is dedicated to policemen, firemen and mountain rescueres. It has own shorter course, own schedule and isntructions. Oravaman in 7 points: the nature and the surroundings of the regions Orava and Liptov, taking place in natural reserve of West Tatras, it is fair-play race with forbidden drafting and pollution, race center, T2 and finish are situated in beautiful Penzión Pribiskô, challenging bike course with several climbs of 12 %, very hard trail half marathon with steep downhill, special treatment, familiar, atmosphere, hospitable background. 1. Race respects ecology, prepared in close harmony with nature and with a minimum of interference into it. 4. Organized with minimum of advertising smog 5. Race with strict rules, with bike course closed for traffic. 6. Race where you can face all kind of weather and you must run with mandatory equipment. 7. Event, where no body goes home after the finish. You meet new friends, you eat, you dance, you enjoy the afterparty. 3 4

Race Rules To mantain the quality and originality of the race, it is important that athletes, their friends and families understand the race philosophy and the importance of the rules. The race logistics is very demanding so it is essential to establish basic rules, regulations and instructions. Before you decide to sign up for the race, we kindly ask you to read next lines carefuly. Reading, understanding and following the RACE MANUAL is mandatory to all, who would like to take part at Oravaman. Once the athlete signs up for the race, no changes nor excuses can be made. Race Rules Race course All athletes (individual and relays) of Oravaman compete in half distance triathlon. This means 2 km of swimming, 90 km of road cycling and 21 km of trail-running. During the race all athletes will carry a GPS tracker, so that the organizers and spectators could follow them online. Swim 2km athletes complete 2 laps of 1 km, with turning point on the shore, athletes must wear Oravaman 2018 swimming cap, neoprene suits are allowed, neoprene socks and gloves are forbidden, race belt can not be dressed under the neoprene suit, after the swim, in Transition 1, athletes must put everything (suit, cap, googles) in a sack with race number (sticker with picture of swimmer), organizers are not responsible for possessions not inserted into the sack, after the swim athlete must put on a race number (race belt) and must take the GPS tracker, without the GPS tracker athlete can t enter the T1 nor leave the T1 for the bike, bags with clothes from the start, sacks with swimming equipment everything will be transported to Penzion Pribiskô and (tennis court). 8:00 a.m. - start of individuals 8:20 a.m. - start of relays 9:00 start of Championship of Ministry of interior From 7:50 to 8:00 the T1 must be empty. At 8:10 swimmers of relays can enter the water, cyclists from relays can enter the corner of T1 from 8:00 to 8:20. After 8:20 nobody can enter the T1 5 6

Race course athletes must bring and handover their bikes to T1 (start) at Liptovská Mara on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., bring ID card last chance to bring the bike to the T1 is on Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:50 a.m. the whole bike course is NO DRAFT- ING any kind of pollution throwing gel, bottle or fruit out of the refreshment point means immediate DSQ. athletes are responsible of studying and understanding the course riding in groups or riding less than 10 m behind another cyclist is forbidden no drafting the bike course is partly closed for traffic (only organizers and official buses can enter the course) athletes must ride carefully and obey instructions of the organizers and the police atlhetes can t cross the central white line of the road riding in the middle of the road, crossing the line = DSQ there are several climbs of 12% on the bike course, we recommend road / timetrial bike with 50/34 or triple crankset, or at least 28 back pinion. when foggy and rainy, the road is very slippery and can cause many falls, please be very careful on descents total elevation of the bike course: 1750 m limited number of spectators can see the start of the race (the road will be closed). Interested spectators must confirm their interest within 1. July 2018 by sending email to oravaman@oravaman.sk. Spectators will be transported by bus (3 euro / person). We guarantee the transport only for those specators, who booked their seat by email and if we comfirmed it. athletes must have a sticker with race number on their saddles there is no technical point on the bike course. Athletes can t get help from outside. athletes can recieve the refreshment from crowd only on official refreshment points after the swim, athlete must take the GPS tracker and carry it in the pocket during the whole bike race belt with race number must be visible on the back there will be bananas, water and iont available at refreshment point at Koliba Holica (mountain pass Huty) on 18, 55, 77 km of the bike. when athlete arrives in T2 at Penzión Pribiskô, he will give the bike to organizers, who will give him his sack with mandatory running equipment at T2, athletes must put their helmets and bike shoes to the running sack, athletes must turn the race number to the front the GPS tracker must be put into the running backpack and it is mandatory to carry the GPS tracker during the whole run. Run, 21 km, 1250 m elevation on friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. athletes must give their running equipment to organizers in the running sack with sticker run (shoes, clothes, nutrition etc.) together with the mandatory equipment inside (running back pack, windproof jacket, headband / buff, min.0,5 l of liquids athlete can fill his bottle or camel bag in T2). The mandatory equipment will be controlled during the handover on Friday. before the T2, athletes must get out of bike, give it to organizers and take their running sack with mandatory equipment. They must put their helmets and cycling shoes into the sack race belt must be turned to the front, GPS device must be put into the running backpack - there will be 3 refreshment stations druing the run (8 km, 12 km, 18 km). On the first two stations will be fruit, snacks, cola, water (tea in case of cold weather). On the last one there will just water and cola. as the run includes long and hard descent, we recomend reliable trailshoes. carrying the GPS device in the backpack during the whole run is mandatory there is steep climb from T2 to the summit of Brestová (1902 m. a. s. l.). Than follows challenging and technical 4 km descent to the parking of ski resort. There will be a short climb with 70 m of elevation from 12 to 13 km of the run. Than it is long descent to the finish at Penzión Pribiskô. The run is pure trail run which includes rocks, grass, soil, gravel and asphalt. any polluting during the run leads to athlete s disqualification. Any gels, bars, papers or bottles please throw ONLY at the refreshment points, give the rubbish to the organizers. 7 8

Handover of bikes - T1 Friday July 13th 2018 at the race start Liptovská Mara (T1): 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m., bring bike + ID card After showing your ID card at the T1, you will receive a sticker with race number, place it under the saddle. The T1 will be protected by mesh and security service. All bikes will be covered with raincoat. Last chance to bring the bike is on Sat- urday, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:50 a.m. After 6:50 a.m., no bike can be put in T1. After the race, bikes and swimming equipment will be returned to athlete only upon showing the race number at the tennis court at Pribiskô from 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. 9 10

Registration Registration, entry fee, categories Once you have read and understood the Race Manual, you go to https://registration.oravaman.sk/, where you must fill in all requierd information. Since November 1st of 2017 to midnight of December 20th you can sign up for the lottery via your personal account. The results of the lottery will be sent to you by email on January 1st of 2018 (monday) in the morning. Please check this day also your spam and trash. If you were lucky enough and you got a slot for Oravaman 2018, you will recieve second email with information about the payment. You will have 5 days to realize the online payment via the Trust Pay system. By paying the entry fee athlete agrees with the rules of Oravaman 2018. He agrees with processing the personal data to the organizers only for the purpose of this race. Organizer undertakes that he will use this data exclusively for the purposes of this race and won t provide it to third person. By paying the entry fee athlete agrees with taking photos, sound recording and making videos from the race. On this photos and videos also can be photographed and filmed the spectators or family members. There are 300 slots available: 15 slots are guaranted for 15 first comes, first serves athletes, who sign up for the O.E.T. trilogy 2018 for discounted price. Those athletes who want to race the full O.E.T. trilogy 2018 for special price of 420 must sign up to their account on November 1st and from 6:00 p.m. can sign up for the trilogy, until all 15 slots are sold. All 15 participants will get payment instructions on January 1st and will have to to pay the O.E.T entry fee until midnight of January 5th. 11 Resting 285 winners of slots will be informed by email on January 1st of 2018: 235 slots are chosen from the lottery 50 slots are chosen by the organizers (saved for sponsors, media and special guests) Apart of the individual race, there will be a relay race, for maximum of 30 teams. 20 teams will be chosen by the lottery. 10 teams can be choosen by organizers (saved for sponsors and media). 12

Entry Fee The entry fee must be paid within 5 days from recieving the payment instructions. Online payment is done via Trust Pay system. At no point and for no reason the entry fee can be refunded. If you can t race, you can transfer your entry fee on other athlete from the wait list until midnight of May 31st. After this date, no changes are accepted. No entry can be transferd for the next year. No athlete nor relay team can be excluded from the payment of the entry fee. The same means for all sponsors and media. The entry fee must be paid via Trust Pay system within midnight of January 5th, 2018. If not, the slot will be passed on the athlete choosen from those, who didn t succeed in the lottery. The process will continue, until all slots are occupied and paid. Individual athlete: 80 Relay Team: 240 Categories Man Woman Relay 18 39 years (1999 1978) 40 49 years (1977 1968) 50 and more years (1967 and older) 18 39 years (1999 1978) 40 and more years (1977 and older) mix (men, men + women) woman GPS tracker, transport of athlete to the start, swim cap, T-Shirt (or similar clothing), small presents, medal, finisher photo (FOTOLAB), refreshment on the bike and run, at finish, lunch (soup, meal, drink), black sack with sticker for swimming equipment after the swim (neopren suit, googles, cap), black sack for running equipment (where athletes put mandatory equipment, running shoes, clothes), sticker for bike saddle, start number. 1 GPS tracker for 1 team, transport of swimmer and cyclist to the start, 1 swim cap, 3x T-Shirt (or similar clothing), 3x small presents, 3 x medal, finisher photo (FOTOLAB), refreshment on the bike and run, at finish, 3x lunch (soup, meal, drink), start number for cyclist and runner, sticker for bike saddle. Deposit for GPS tracker: 20 Deposit will requiered at the presentation and will be returned in the finish, with the return of tracker. Three fastest athletes in each age category will be rewarded with cristal cup from our partner RONA, three fastest mix and women relays will be rewarded also. Prize money of 1600 will be given to first 5 men and first 3 women in overall classification: Men 1st - 500 2nd 300 3rd 150 4th 75 5th 50 13 In case of an unfavorable or dangerous weather conditions, organizers can shorten or modify any of the three disciplines during the race day. In case sudden bad weather conditions (heavy rain or storm), organizers have the right to stop the race and athletes must respect this decision and follow the instructions of organizers. At 8:10 swimmers of relays can enter the water, cyclists from relays can enter the corner of T1 from 8:00 to 8:20, after 8:20 nobody can enter the T1/ 8:00 a.m. START of Oravaman /300 individuals with red swimming cap/ 8:20 a.m. START of relays /30 swimmers with blue swimming caps/ 8:30 a.m. first bus with spectators leaves to Zuberec Pribiskô 9:00 a.m. START of the Championship of Ministry of Interior in triathlon (white cap) /athletes of this category can enter the T1 from 7:00 to 7:50 and than from 8:00 to 8:20 a.m., than they must leave the T1/ 9:30 a.m. last two buses leave from the start to Penzión Pribiskô 12:50 a.m. STOP TIME at Penzión Pribiskô T2 2:10 p.m. STOP TIME at Sedlo Pálenica (5 km of the run) 2:45 p.m. STOP TIME at Brestová (1902 m.a.s.l.) 1:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. meal for athletes /athletes will be informed about the offer of the meal on July 1st and they will choose one of the three main meals/ 2:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. pick up of bikes and swimming sacks from the T2 /bike can be picked up from the tennis court only after showing the race number/ 6:00 p.m. winners ceremony, raffle /tickets for raffle can be bought on Friday and Saturday/ 7:00 p.m. live music, afterparty Afterparty What makes Oravaman special, is the traditional afterparty. Live music and some traditional meal create friendly atmosphere, where athletes and their friends meet and enjoy the nice evening 18

Technical informations Athletes are obliged to behave and race fairly and reasonably. We expect, that everyone who decides to take part at WWWWOravaman is an experienced and well trained athlete with rational behavior. Drafting, cheating and polluting during the race is strictly forbbiden. Please pay attention to the following technical information: Technical informations Start - Transition 1 Athletes will be transported to the start by bus. They must carry swimming equipment and cycling shoes and helmet. At the entrance of T1 athletes must demostrate the GPS tracker, race number and helmet. If one or more of this mandatory gear is missing, athlete can t enter the T1 nor take part in the race. Set STOP-TIMEs will be strictly controlled after the bike and during the run. Swimming Start from the shore, 2 laps in shape of triangle with turning on the shore. After the swim athlete puts his swim suit, cap, googles and other clothes in the sack and ties it with knot. Athlete must take his GPS tracker and put it into the pocket and put on the race belt with race number placed on the back. Cycling Athlete puts on the helmet and with the GPS tracker in the pocket and race number placed on his back, he takes his bike and leaves the Transition 1 with bike in his hand. Athlete can get on his bike out of the T1 on the line, where referee stays. Bike course includes 5 climbs of 12%, while climbing the mountain pass Huty 3 times in total (two times from part of Liptovské Matiašovce and one time from Zuberec). Athletes are responsible to know the course and study it properly. Organizers and police aren t responsible of showing the course, they take care of the traffic regulation, not showing the course. When arriving to T2, athlete will get of the bike and give it to organizers, they will give him his running sack 19 20

Running Athlete must take his GPS tracker and put it in the running backpack. The race number must be turned to the front. Whole run takes place in National park, so please don t pollute the nature. Challenging trailrun requieres lot of concetration mainly on the descent. Mandatory equipment (running backpack, windproof jacket, headband, 0,5 l of drink) will be controlled on Friday, during the handover with the running sack. Run includes hard and long ascent from T2 to the summit of Brestová (1902 m.a.s.l.). Than follows very hard descent with lot of rocks and roots on the path. Most of the run course is on marked tourist paths. Important crossings will be marked with red flags. Be prepared for any kind of weather and don t understimate the power of mountains. When rainy, the paths can be very slippery. 21 22
