Dear Friends and Friends of Veterans, Please save the date and encourage your friends to participate in our 7th Annual Golfing for Veterans Outing held on Saturday, July 22 nd, 2017 at the Links of Novi. The Links of Novi has done an outstanding job of hosting our fund-raising event in the past and this year s outing should be exceptional. The Wayne State University Office of Military and Veterans Academic Excellence (OMVAE) in partnership with the Student Veterans Organization (SVO) promote the Academic Success of all our military affiliated students through comprehensive supportive services. As an institution, we have many Veteran-centric programs that are worthy of your financial support but the Annual Golf Outing has grown into an event that we feel can support our newest initiative, the Warrior ReBoot (WRB) Program. The WRB Program provides immediate supportive services prior to the start of every fall semester by aiding our veterans in preparation for placement testing. Math and English placement tests are challenging and an under-prepared veteran, who has been away from the classroom to serve their country, may not be as successful as intended, requiring remedial courses that cost them valuable GI Bill Benefits. WRB was created to help save the veteran time and money while extending their GI Bill Benefits to ensure they are available throughout the veteran s educational goals. Your contributions will be applied to this program immediately. We cannot thank you enough as our events of the past have been successful because of your participation.
