Commodore s Report February 2015 We have the Award s Assembly this month, which I hate because I have to work. Each year it signals the end of the last year and the beginning of the year to come. If you can make it, I am sure you will enjoy it. The next event has to do with the 50 th Anniversary and that is the movie at the Circle Cinema on March 11 th, another event that is not to be missed. We even will be starting racing at the end of next month, if you are into that type of thing. The Chili Cook-off will be on April 11 th that will start our social events at the club. Sailing season is just around the corner. Now I would like to get on my soap box for just a short time. You know all these events that the club has going on has to do with members stepping up and volunteering their time and effort to make these events happen. If it just so happens that you get the opportunity to contribute in some small way, it will make Windycrest that much better. It is you who make Windycrest the great place that it is. See you at the lake soon. Darrel

Past Commodore s Report February 2015 As we have celebrated the annual awards presentations, this signals that racing and action at Windycrest is close at hand. Hopefully you attended the annual awards at LaFortune Park. Harvey and Marcia Baker are looking to change a few things and improve our social calendar so our part is to assist them by supporting their efforts. Roger Adams, your new fleet captain has been quick to build the calendar of activities and racing for 2015. This is a difficult and thankless task that can stretch into the spring if you allow it to. Roger aggressively pulled together a few people, tweaked the calendar, made a few changes and published it on the website in January. This is totally unprecedented. As of this writing, there are only 3 PRO dates open for the coming year and all other responsibilities have been assigned. Nice job Roger. Another team that is staying busy is the Windycrest chain gang. Even though we have shut down the anchor chain replacement program for the winter, they continue to work, maintaining your club whenever the weather permits. So far this winter they have replaced several pieces of Styrofoam, under C dock and recently added an anchor to the main breakwater. This is hard physical work that is quite expensive if we would farm it out to a dock services company. Thank them when you see them. Finally, be aware that your best communication with Windycrest, especially in the off-season, is the Windycrest web page. Richard Ferguson accepted the responsibility for maintaining the site last year and has improved it month after month, maintaining quick up-to-date communication with what is happening in this, our 50 th year. Give him a tip of the hat when you see him. That s it from this Old Hulk for this month. I look to see you at the lake and on the water soon. Terry Rainey Past Commodore

From the Treasurer Membership renewal season is upon us, thanks to the 167 members who have completed their renewal as of February 6 th. Only 77 to go. Remember that if your renewal is postmarked after February 15 th, you must include the late fee for it to be processed. Late fees have significantly increased, see your renewal form for details. If you use a payment service such as Bill Pay please note it on your renewal form and remember that the controlling date for renewals is the date that the signed renewal form, complete payment and signed lease (if applicable) are received by us. Legible postmark dates are controlling, if you are mailing close to a deadline, you may want to have your envelope manually cancelled. If you have a boat in a slip, you should have received a new lease for signature and return to us. Please return it together with your signed renewal form. Processing of your renewal will be suspended if the lease is not returned. I will email you a reminder and a PDF copy of the lease in case you have misplaced the original. Several members have expedited their renewal by returning a signed copy by email. Please mail your renewal as soon as possible to help the Board of Governors plan for the upcoming sailing season. It would be great if we didn t collect any late fees this year.
