USAMA Grand Internationals Officials & More Information! Judges & Referee Seminar on Saturday: Lee Kittell is our Chief Referee. He will be conducting our Judge's Clinic on Saturday morning at 8:30 am, just before the tournament starts. The clinic is open to all who would like to better familiarize themselves with USAMA rules and the recent changes. Certification for Judges and Referees will be available for Adult Black Belts at a cost of $15.00. Certification includes the USAMA Rulebook. All aspects of the rules will be addressed for Forms, Weapons, and. Receive clarification on any questions you may have as well as strategies for running a safe ring with our Chief Referee! Also, view various examples of what can happen in the ring and learn how to handle those situations safely and fairly. Scorekeepers/Time Keepers Seminar will run simultaneously. Tournament Coordinator: Cassandra Shults is our Tournament Coordinator and Points Coordinator. She will be going over the bracketing process in our Judge s Clinic on Saturday. She will clarify the "modified bye," proper separation of team mates in sparring, and marking of penalties on the bracketing sheets. The Center Referee must understand the bracketing process to be sure places are properly awarded and to assist the scorekeepers for accuracy. Medical Personnel: Dr. Rick Fields is the Chairman of our Medical Board. He is a medical doctor who volunteers his time and expertise at many of our tournaments around the country as well as providing council for our Rules Committee for competitor safety. He is also a 9 th Degree Black Belt in Shorei Goju under the instruction of the late Sensei Thomas Pisut. In addition, Dr. Kathy Ulrich and Ralph Glasmann are also medical professionals as well as martial artists who serve on our Medical Board and volunteer their time and expertise. Hawkes International Society President: Eddie B. Bethea, Jr. is the President of the Hawkes International Society. The Hawkes International Society is a Martial Arts Hall of Fame which embodies those outstanding martial artists with competitive spirit who have made outstanding contributions to the arts and who represent the essence of Karatedo (the martial arts way in all aspects of their life). Mr. Bethea truly is an inspiration and role model for us all in Karate-do. The Hawkes International Society will meet on Thursday, March 15 th at 8:00 pm in the hotel.

USAMA Grand Internationals Information! Competitor Equipment/Attire: Mandatory Forms & Weapons Attire: Must wear uniform which is traditional with respect to his/her style. Mandatory Equipment: Dipped Foam Headgear, Handgear, & Footgear (No Ringstar Shoes); Mouthpiece; Groin Protection (All males). Uniform must cover elbows. Mandatory Koshiki Gear: Mouthpiece; Groin protection (All males); Shin Pads recommended. Headgear and Chest Protector will be provided at ring. Mandatory TDS Equipment: Mouthpiece, Open Hand padded gloves, Shin Guards, & Caged Head Gear (A few Head Gear will be on hand to borrow, if needed.) Uniform, or mid-thigh shorts or longer, MMA shorts, or yoga pant; and Rash Guard or T-shirt. Women must also wear sport bra. Men must wear groin protection. Prohibited items in, Chanbara, Koshiki, or Take Down : For the safety of our competitors, No regular eye glasses (safety glasses only), No metal or hard plastic joint braces, plaster or fiberglass casts will be allowed. Medical devices must be approved by our medical personnel and Chief Referee. Disqualification: A competitor may be disqualified for excessive contact, illegal techniques, & unsportsmanlike conduct and will not be entitled to a refund or allowed to fight in any further events that day. Coaches and Spectators' unsportsmanlike conduct may also be cause for a competitor s disqualification. Judges Attire for Tournament: Judges, please wear either your traditional martial arts uniform, dress pants/skirt with white shirt or USAMA polo shirt, or suit during the competition. We appreciate your professionalism. Annual National Points & Awards Banquet Congratulations! to our top ten 2017 USAMA National Point Winners! Those in attendance will receive special personalized awards at the banquet on Friday, March 16 th, at 6:30 pm in the Grand Ballroom. Our first place point winners will be asked to say a few words upon acceptance of their award. We will also be recognizing our top ten Teams of the Year and Instructors of the Year. Be sure to be there and help your team celebrate! Due to limited space, Banquet Tickets must be reserved by March 7th to secure your seat at the banquet. No tickets available at door. U.S. Association of Martial Artists Grand Internationals Tournament & Seminars MARCH 16-18, 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico USAMA 5 Star ***** Sanctioned Tournament Pre-Registration Deadline is March 7, 2018. In order to be considered "Pre-Registered," and qualify for the reduced prices, your entry form must be postmarked by March 7th or submitted online by Midnight of March 7th. After that date, the registration is considered, "At Door" Registration. Official Tournament T-shirts and apparel will be available for sale at the tournament! Purchase your shirt with the Official Artwork of the 2018 Grand Internationals. Top Ten 2017 National Points Winners names will be given to the T-Shirt vendor so you will have the option of adding the names list to the back of your official T-shirt purchase! Photos: After awards have been presented in the ring, there will be a specially designated photo area for you to take pictures of your special martial artist and their award.
