Stairs to your left will take you to the Mezzanine floor, where Protea 1 & 2 are located. Once on the Mezzanine floor, continue straight through the corridor, past the lifts and turn left. Protea1&2 will be the venue straight ahead. There will be a bike storage facility in the underground parking lot of Southern Sun, The Cullinan hotel.

VENUE 2.1 VENUE LOCATION The venue is located in the V&A Waterfront and Green Point precinct. The swimming will take place off Quay 6 and the finish area is at the Green Point Athletics Stadium. VENUE 6 7 VENUE 2.2 TRANSPORT TO THE VENUE Shuttles run every hour from the Official Hotels Southern Sun Cape Sun (between 08:00-23:00) and Southern Sun The Cullinan (between 08:05-23:05) to Entrance 1 of the V&A Waterfront. Shuttles run from the Official Hotel Southern Sun Waterfront every half hour (between 08:00-23:00) to Entrance 1 of the V&A Waterfront. Southern Sun The Cullinan is a 5 min walk from Southern Sun The Waterfront. Please note there are a limited number of seats on these shuttles. Additional shuttles will be made available for Elite Athletes Briefing, Course Familiarisation and Competition days for Elite athletes and their support staff. Elite athletes should cycle to the Venue on Competition days as well as for Course Familiarisation 2.3 ELITE ATHLETES LOUNGE & RECOVERY AREA Facilities including the Athletes Lounge and toilets are provided for the athletes at the start (Jetty 2). The Recovery Area is available at the finish area (Green Point Athletics Stadium). Sealed bottles of water, fruit and energy bars will be offered to the athletes before in the Athletes Lounge and after the race in the Recovery Area. ATHLETE LOUNGE OPENING TIMES: Course Familiarisation: Friday 24th April 08:30-11:30 Elite Women s Race: Saturday 25th April 13:00-14:50 Elite Men s Race: Sunday 26th April 13:00-14:50 2.4 DOPING CONTROL Doping Control will be performed according to the ITU/WADA rules. Doping control will be located at the Finish area within the Green Point Athletics Stadium next to the medical and recovery areas. 2.5 MEDICAL SERVICES First Aid and Emergency Medical Services will be available at the Age-Group Registration venue on Jetty 2 on April 24, April 25 and April 26 - before and during the training sessions and competition schedule. There will be First Aid and Emergency Medical Services at the Green Point Athletics Stadium on competition days. Medical and paramedical personnel will be available throughout competition times. Several ambulances will be available to provide emergency transfer to hospital. A medical area will be provided on site at the finish area within the stadium. Possible medical services at the venue are free of charge. Treatment in clinics and practices is to be paid by the participants. Athletes / teams should ensure that they have appropriate medical insurance. If you require medical assistance during your stay in Cape Town but away from the venue contact the Medical Emergency Services. In a medical emergency, dial 112 off a mobile phone or 10177 from a landline and ask for ambulance service. This number is free of charge from any telephone. Marshals will assist and patrol around the Field of Play on race days and Traffic management services will be done by the City of Cape Town Traffic with regards to road closures and the traffic control around the course. 2.9 BANKING Banks can be found in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront Mall as well as within a 5 minute walk from the Official Hotels. Transport to any hotels other than the Official Hotels will be for the Athlete and their Team Officials own account. TRAINING 5.1 TRAINING SESSIONS IN THE SWIMMING POOL TRAINING SESSIONS IN THE VIRGIN ACTIVE GYMS To obtain access to the gyms, you would need to provide your ID/passport number to Athlete Services (jayne@wts-capetown.com) who will pass on your details to Virgin Active. You need to arrive with your ID/passport at thethe Virgin Active Point the first time and thereafter you will just need to provide your ID/passport number to gain access to the gym at either of the gyms. Elite athlete club access to Virgin Active: from 20 27 April 2015. TRAINING 14 15 TRAINING OFF PEAK HOURS AT VIRGIN ACTIVE POINT: Weekdays: 12:00-15:00 Weekends: 12:00 - onwards 5.2 BIKE TRAINING Cape Town roads are well used by local cyclists. The routes are not closed to traffic, so you will be cycling at your own risk. 41KM RIDE WITH A CLIMB 41km cycle from Southern Sun The Cullinan out towards Hout Bay incorporating Suikerbossie climb. This route uses roads so please ride in off peak hours and be aware of other road users. http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/657052082 We recommend the use of the following routes when cycling in and around Cape Town: 45KM FLAT RIDE 45km flat cycle from Southern Sun The Cullinan out towards Big Bay. TRAINING / COMPETITION INFORMATION 16 17 COMPETITION INFORMATION 5.3 RUN TRAINING Green Point Park and Sea Point Promenade are suitable areas to train there are many pedestrian paths which are good for run training. 5.4 COURSE FAMILIARISATION BIKE Athletes will be able to familiarise themselves with the bike course on Friday, April 24 at 09:00 till 10:00. Athletes are to gather at TZ1 on Quay 6 of the V&A Waterfront at 08:45. Athletes will be escorted by police for two laps on the bike course. Please note: the official race courses are not open for training before the races other than during the course familiarisation. The race courses are in general NOT suitable for training. SWIM Athletes will be able to familiarise themselves with the swimming course on Friday, April 24 from 10:00 till 11:00. The location will be the same as the start of the race, Quay 6 of the V&A Waterfront. Please note: It is forbidden to swim outside the test swimming zone at any time because of safety reasons and shipping traffic. 6. Athletes will start from a pontoon (0,6m high) and stand in a starting position approximately 70cm wide. The Race Referee with the assistance of ITU Technical Officials, who are assigned to the start, will start each race. The athletes are required to leave their last minute gear at the swim start inside a designated box and the LOC will carry those bags to the Athletes Recovery Area at Green Point Athletics Stadium. 6.3.2 SWIM COURSE There are two anticlockwise laps to swim. The first turn buoy is at the 300 metre mark; second turn buoy in 20 metres; third turn buoy in 90 metres, fourth turn buoy at 70 metres, fifth turn buoy at 90 metres and back to the pontoon is 180 metres. On exiting the water, turn left on the floating cubes and run along the pontoons to re-enter for the second lap. On completion of the second lap when exiting the water, there is a gangway leading to the transition area T1. There the change takes place from Swim to Cycle. 6.3.3 BIKE COURSE Bike course is generally a flat course, some parts of the route experience a slight incline. There is a 4.1km section to the stadium followed by seven laps of 4.5km to ride. The route is technically demanding owing to many changes of direction, tight turns and some paved sections. Road surface is good asphalt with approximately 1km of paved surface per lap. Athletes who are lapped are taken out of the race. The first runner, last biker -scenario is applicable for this event. In this case the biker will be taken off the course. 6.3.4 WHEEL STATIONS There are two wheel stations on the cycle course, the first being at turn 1, just before the lighthouse. This will be a. neutral station with supplied wheels. The second wheel station is a team station with your own wheels and is situated midway on the course, after the exit from the stadium. 6.3.5 PENALTY BOX The penalty box is situated about 20 metres before the entrance to the T2 / Finish area at the Green Point Athletics stadium. 6.3.6 RUN COURSE The course is flat with a surface of asphalt and paved surface. There are four laps of 2.4km to run. 6.3.7 AID STATIONS There are three aid stations along the course and are located on the run course, with Aid markers on the course at km 0.3km; 1,2km and 2km. Closed 0.5 litre bottles of sealed water will be handed out. The water temperature in the Waterfront harbour at the end of April can be expected to be roughly 14-16 C.

ACCREDITATION 24 25 PUBLIC TRANSPORT 7. ACCREDITATION The LOC will provide all athletes, coaches, technical officials, journalists, etc. with an official accreditation card according to the ITU Event Operational and Technical Requirements. Accreditation cards are number-coded and provide access to specific areas of the competition areas. All accredited persons are requested to carry their accreditation cards with them at all times and to show them upon request. If accreditations are not picked up at the briefing they will be delivered to the LOC office at the Green Point Athletics Stadium. 8. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION 8.1 OFFICIAL HOTEL SHUTTLES Shuttles run every hour from the Official Hotels Southern Sun Cape Sun (between 08:00 23:00) and Southern Sun The Cullinan (between 08:05-23:05) to Entrance 1 of the V&A Waterfront. Shuttles run from the Official Hotel Southern Sun Waterfront every half hour (between 08:00-23:00) to Entrance 1 of the V&A Waterfront. Southern Sun The Cullinan is a 5 min walk from Southern Sun to The Waterfront. 8.2 MYCITI BUSES With the exception of the routes to and from the airport, you ll need a Myconnect card to travel aboard the MyCiTi bus. These cost a once-off fee of R35 and are available from appointed kiosks and participating retailers (for more info visit the MyCiTi website or call +27 (0) 800 65 64 63); after purchasing, it s simply necessary to begin loading money onto the card to travel (fares are calculated on a distance-travelled basis). Children under four years of age can ride the MyCiTi for free. Bicycles are welcome on the MyCiTi system and can be carried free of charge, as long as they are stored safely and securely and do not cause inconvenience to other passengers. All bicycles must be kept in the space designated for them on the bus, next to the wheelchair area. If there isn't enough space in this area, you will need to wait for another bus.
