The gymnast must be a Singapore Citizen. 2. The gymnast must be a minimum of 16 years old in 2018 (born 31.12.2002 or earlier). 3. The gymnast must not have any outstanding payment owed to SG at the point of participation in the trial. 4. The gymnast must be an athlete member of Singapore Gymnastics. Selection Objective 1. Objective To select a maximum of 3 Team athletes to travel to the Commonwealth Games. Up to 2 additional non-travelling reserves will be named. The number of athlete allocations for gymnastics is yet to be finalized and subject to confirmation by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF). The Selection Committee may select fewer than the maximum number advised by the CGF. 2. Qualifiers a. First Selection Trial 18 November 2017 Selection Process & Criteria b. Final Selection Trial 6 January 2018 OR International Competition in January 2018 1. The 2017-2020 FIG Code of Points for each discipline will apply to the respective selection trials stated within this Policy. 2. Gymnasts must submit their Indication of Interest to be selected for the competition by completing the registration form and submitting it together
Selection Committee with completed scripts/ training plans of their routines on all apparatus & schedules. Gymnasts who fail to register and submit all the necessary documents to Singapore Gymnastics by 1 November 2017 will not be considered for selection. 3. Gymnasts will be selected in the following manner: a. Gymnasts must achieve an average Individual All-Around score of minimum 41.950 1 over both qualification trials to be considered for the 2018 Commonwealth Games squad. Gymnasts who do not achieve the minimum IAA score but show good prospects (in terms of achieving Performance Targets) in individual apparatus events may be considered for the squad on a case-by-case basis. b. If SNOC approves a Team quota, the top 2 highest ranked gymnasts in terms of best Individual All-Around score (tallied from both qualification trials) will be selected for the squad. The remaining Team gymnast will be selected based on her ability to achieve the Performance Targets for the team. Similarly, the next 2 gymnasts determined to best contribute to the Performance Targets will be selected as the non-travelling reserves. c. If SNOC approves anything less than a Team quota or there are insufficient gymnasts to qualify a team, gymnast(s) will be selected based on their ability to achieve the Performance Targets outlined. 4. Successful nomination to SNOC does not guarantee a spot on the Games squad. 5. All gymnasts, regardless of successful nomination to SNOC, must participate in all apparatus at all qualification trials. 6. By entering the selection process, gymnasts and coaches agree to be bound by the provisions of this policy. 7. Over-riding Selection Criteria a. Lim Jiahui 5. Sport Development Manager a. Choy Dian Chun Members of the Selection Committee may be replaced in the case there is a conflict of interest. 1. Gymnast(s) must be free of any injury that may hinder effective training and/ or participation in the Games. 2. Gymnast(s) with injury at the time of each qualification trial may still be considered for selection if: a. The gymnast has submitted her Indication of Interest by the stipulated deadline, b. The gymnast can produce medical certification verifying doctor s diagnosis of her inability to perform her routines at the point of the selection trial, c. The gymnast has a proven track record of skill level, competition appearances, achievements, and results from past selection trials, and d. It is deemed that the injury will not hinder subsequent preparation towards the Games. 3. A history of good training attitude and conduct, as well as potential for future development, will be taken into consideration. 4. Gymnast must exhibit the ability to cooperate with team members, including coaches and team officials, and must be able to contribute to a positive team spirit. 5. Gymnasts must not withhold any information relating to injury that could affect training at any time before the Games. 6. Gymnasts who are unable to maintain consistent attendance at training before the competition may be dropped from the Games squad. 7. The reserve gymnast(s) may be swapped onto the Games squad if any of the following are fulfilled: a. Her Control Test scores leading to the Games consistently contributes to the Performance Target better than any of the nominated squad members. b. A nominated squad member s injury is determined to hinder effective training, fulfilment of Performance Targets and/ or participation in the Games. Substitution must be approved by the Selection Committee.
Gymnasts Based Overseas Announcement Centralized Training Substitution & Injury Selection of Coach Appeals Process of Filing an Appeal 1. This selection policy and all its processes, terms, and conditions will apply likewise to gymnasts who are based overseas. 2. Assessment of a gymnast s routines using video recordings is subject to verification of the validity of the video recording (within one year), and quality of video recording. This could be authenticated by the organising committee of the competition in which the recording was done. The squad for the Games will be announced within 10 days following the conclusion of the final qualification trial. All gymnasts including reserves named to the squad must participate in centralized training commencing on a date determined by SG. Gymnasts must show commitment to the training program by attending all sessions as required by national coaches. Gymnasts may bring their own coaches to centralized training. In the event that an athlete sustains an injury after successfully being selected for the Games squad, she is required to immediately inform SG of the injury, and submit her doctor s diagnosis. SG reserves the right to withdraw or substitute any gymnasts deemed unable to prepare for the competition effectively. The coach of the majority of top-ranked gymnasts will be nominated for the Games. 1. The appeals tribunal will be ready to operate once the selection results have been released. 2. The appeal will not be a re-selection but rather a process to determine whether the decision reached by the Selection Committee was meticulous and in accordance to the selection processes & criteria laid out in this policy. 3. If the appeals tribunal find irregularities in the selection process, the result will be referred back to the Selection Committee for consideration. 4. A fee of SGD 300 must be submitted at the time of filing an appeal. Should the appeal be found to be unmeritorious or frivolous, the bond will be forfeited. 5. Where athlete A s appeal threatens to exclude athlete B from the Games squad, athlete B will be given an opportunity to be heard at the appeal. 6. Legal representation will be warranted in cases where legal issues are involved and the athlete s best chance of articulating the appeal depends on it. 1. Appeals must be lodged strictly within 2 business days (Mon-Fri only) of the announcement of the selection results. Any appeals received later than this deadline will not be entertained.

Appeals can be prepared partially or wholly by lawyers and must be lodged through written submissions to Singapore Gymnastics in the attached form and submitted in person to: The Appeals Tribunal Singapore Gymnastics 3 Stadium Drive #01-33 Singapore 397630 3. Payment of SGD 300 per appeal must be made upon submission of the appeal via cheque payment to Singapore Gymnastics. Failure to receive payment will result in the appeal being null and void. 1. All athletes, including those directly named to the squad, must submit their Indication of Interest by the stipulated deadline. 2. Exemption from selection is not permitted under any circumstances (e.g. outstanding performances in the past), except injury, according to the terms laid out in the over-riding selection criteria as stated above. 3.
