6 October, 2018 23kms to Palas do Rei Starting from the lovely village of Portomarin, the Camino will cross the river Mino (Galicia s longest river) and rise uphill steadily towards the Serra de Ligonde. You will pass through the beautiful hamlets of Gonzar and Ventas de Naron. Visit the Romanesque Church of Santa Maria in Castromaior and the Romanesque church in Eirexe. (B/D) 10 October, 2018 16kms to Santiago de Compostela Walking out of Amenal, your next point of interest is Lavacolla in the outskirts of Santiago, where pilgrims used to wash themselves in the river in preparation for their arrival in Santiago de Compostela. Rows of tall eucalyptus trees line your journey to Monte do Gozo and it is from here that you will catch your first glimpse of the Santiago cathedral spires. A final stamp in your pilgrim s passport will welcome your arrival into the spiritual and cultural city of Santiago de Compostela with a population of 80,000. With only 16kms to walk in total today, you may have the opportunity to partake in the pilgrim mass. This evening is free time to soak up the ambience of this spectacular city. (B) 11 October, 2018 Santiago de Compostela city Tour After breakfast we have included a 2 hour guided tour of Santiago de Compostela which will be the perfect introduction to this wonderful cultural mecca and give you plenty of free time in the afternoon to explore the narrow streets and charming historical buildings including the UNESCO World Heritage listed old town.
