5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES Extinguishing media Exposure hazards Protection of firefighters Use an extinguishing agent suitable for the surrounding fire. In a fire, or if heated, a pressure increase will occur and the container may burst. Decomposition products may include the following materials: Carbon Monoxide Promptly isolate the scene by removing all persons from the vicinity of the incident if there is a fire. No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. Fire-fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with full face-piece operated in in positive pressure mode. Clothing for fire-fighters (including helmets, protective boots and gloves) conforming to EN469 will provide a basic level of protection for chemical incidents. Burning produces noxious & toxic fumes. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Personal precautions No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. Evacuate surrounding areas. Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering. Do not touch or walk through spilt material. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Environmental precautions Clean-up procedures 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling requirements Storage conditions Avoid dispersal of spilt material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers. Inform the relevant authorities if the product has caused environmental pollution. Stop leak if without risk. Move containers from spill area. Absorb with an inert, dry material and place in an appropriate waste disposal container. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor. Put on suitable PPE (see section 8). Do not get in eyes or on skin or clothing. Do not ingest. Avoid breathing vapour or mist. Refer to special instructions/safety data sheet prior to use. Keep in original container or an approved alternative made from a compatible material, keep tightly closed when not in use. Empty containers retain product residue. Do not reuse container. Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in original containers protected from direct sunlight in a cool, dry place with good ventilation away from incompatible materials (see section 10) as well as food and drink. Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept in an upright position to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabeled containers. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Personal Protective Equipment Engineering measures No special ventilation requirements. Good general ventilation should be sufficient to control worker exposure to airborne contaminants. If this product contains ingredients with exposure limits (no known) use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure below any recommended or statutory limits. Hand protection Eye protection Skin protection Respiratory protection Hygiene Measures PVC disposable gloves. Safety eyewear complying with an approved standard should be used to avoid exposure to liquid splashes or mists. PPE for the body should be selected based on the task being performed and the risks involved. During application of product, forearms & legs should be fully covered. In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection. Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazard of the product and the safe working limits of the selected respirator. Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical products, before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the working period. Appropriate techniques should be used to remove potentially contaminated clothing. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Wash contaminated clothing before reusing.
