Lindsey Wilson vs. Mid-Continent Lindsey Wilson Sports Information @LWCAthletics Women s Basketball Notes Scouting Mid-Continent Mid-Continent University enters tonight s game coming off a 95-85 loss to Berea (Ky.) College on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Cougars are led by Stephanie Malone who recorded a double-double against Berea scoring 30 points and pulling down 15 rebounds in the loss. Chantiera Johnson also had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Natalie Taylor added 17 points while Jessica Kirby had 11. The Cougars shot 40 percent from the field and made six three pointers against Berea while going 21-for-34 from the free throw line. Five MSC Teams Ranked Five members of the Mid-South Conference are currently ranked in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll, including three teams in the top ten. Georgetown (Ky.) College is the highest in the conference and sits at No. 4. Cumberland (Tenn.) University is next at No. 7 while Campbellsville (Ky.) University sits at No. 9. Shawnee State (Ohio) University sits just outside the top ten at No. 11. The University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) is the final ranked MSC team at No. 21. Fresh Faces The women s basketball program features 10 new additions to the 2013-14 team, including seven freshman. Chanel Roberts, Cassidy Martin, Candace Foster, Kayla Richardson, Jamie Cummings, Paige Bosse and Deanna Downs will all be playing in their first collegiate basketball season. Keosha Wisener, Montera Copeland and Bre Elder will be playing in their first season with the Blue Raiders. Wisener is a transfer from Columbia State Community College, Copeland from Olney Central College and Elder is a transfer from the University of Dayton. The two losses came at the beginning of the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. Lindsey Wilson also opened their 2012-13 season against Mid-Continent University with the Blue Raiders winning 86-49 in Biggers Sports Center. 2012-13 Season Lindsey Wilson finished the 2012-13 season with a 16-15 overall record, including a 7-13 Mid-South Conference record. The Blue Raiders season came to an end in the opening round of the MSC Tournament. The eighth-seeded Blue Raiders led No. 1 Cumberland University at halftime, but could not hold on to pull off the upset and fell 61-56. The Cumberland Bulldogs advanced all the way to the national semifinals before falling 43-41 to Lee (Tenn.) University. Four Returners Lani Karosich, Tara Arnold, Ranika Rone and Laura Skudra will all return this season for the Lindsey Wilson women s basketball program. Arnold, who transferred from Morehead State (Ky.) University last season, leads the group with 3.6 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game. She appeared in 14 games for the Blue Raiders, starting four. Wethington Reaches 450 Career Wins Lindsey Wilson head coach John B. Wethington reached 450 career wins with the 70-57 win at Webber International on Dec. 18, 2012. Wethington is in his 25th season as the Blue Raider s head coach, the only school he has been at as a collegiate coach. With his 459 wins, Wethington ranks fifth on the NAIA active coaches list for career wins.
