The tournament will feature multiple rounds including: Qualifying Round, Regional Semi-Final, Region Final (14U/12U) and National Final (14U/12U) The tournament will be conducted for four age divisions as designated by the NBA (14U, 12U, 10U and 8U), and is broken into multiple rounds. The participants will be competing for incredible prizes including: AGE GROUP 14U 12U 10U 8U PRIZE Clippers Experience & chance for all expenses paid trip to the 2017 NBA Draft in Chicago, IL Clippers Experience & chance for all expenses paid trip to the 2017 NBA Draft in Chicago, IL The Clippers Experience The Clippers Experience AGE REQUIREMENTS Participants must meet the age requirements and will be required to show proof of age (birth certificate, etc.) 3
COURT SET UP DIAGRAM DIVISION BORN BETWEEN 8U Born on or after July 1, 2008 10U July 1, 2006 June 30, 2008 12U July 1, 2004 June 30, 2006 14U July 1, 2002 June 30, 2004 PROCEDURE 1. Each participant will compete one at a time against a stopwatch. 2. Participants will start from the start x with basketball in hand. 3. The participant will begin on the sound of the whistle. The participant ends with the sound of the whistle after one (1:00) minute has elapsed. 4. Each participant is allowed one false start. If a false start occurs, the timer will blow the whistle to restart the round. If a participant false starts a second time, they will be disqualified. 5. Participants begin the zig-zag dribble by dribbling past the first cone on the left. 4
6. Participants MUST follow the zig-zag dribbling around each cone, followed by the speed dribble before any shot is attempted. 7. Participants may begin the shooting portion from any shooting point and may shoot in any order. 8. Once a shot is taken, the participant must shoot from a different spot for the following shot. 9. Participants must retrieve their own rebounds. 10. Participants must dribble throughout the challenge, including after rebounding and upon returning to a different shooting spot. 11. A basket counts ONLY if the ball is released before the final whistle blows. 12. After a minute, each participant will shoot one free throw worth 3 points. RULES All female participants will compete with a 28.5 basketball. All male participants will compete with a 29.5 basketball. Participants may shoot using any technique desired. Any part of the participant s foot must be touching the shooting spot as they release the ball for the basket to count. They do not need to be touching/landing on the spot after the shot has been released. No out of bounds. Each participant only receives ONE attempt to complete the challenge. VIOLATIONS A three point penalty will be deducted from the final score for EACH of the following violations: Traveling Double Dribble Palming/Carrying the ball All rulings made by the court official will be FINAL. SCORING Each time a shot is made, the participant is awarded with the corresponding spot s points (see diagram above). Three bonus points are awarded for a made free throw at the end of the one (1:00) minute. A three point penalty will be subtracted from the final score for EACH rule violation. The final score will be determined by adding up each shot made plus the bonus points from a made free throw minus any rules violations. A sample score sheet is as follows: 5
TIE-BREAKER All players involved in a tie will use the following tie-breaker system. The winner will be determined by: 1) Bonus free throw shot made 2) Highest number of 6 point shots made 3) Highest number of 4 point shots made 4) Highest number of 3 point shots made 5) Highest number of 1 point shots made 6) Lowest number of violations QUALIFYING ROUND Participants will choose one of eight qualifying rounds to compete in. Each qualifying round age division will allow up to fifty (50) participants (for each the male and female division) to compete. The top six finalists in each age group (including both male and female) will move on to the Regional Semi-Finals held at the Los Angeles Clippers Training Center. Ties will be decided by using the tie-breaker system above. Note: statistics from the qualifying round will not carry over to the Regional Semi-finals. If a winning participant is unable to attend the Regional Semi-Final the next person with the highest score will take their spot. REGIONAL SEMI-FINAL ROUND 8U/10U Divisions The Regional Semi-Final Round will use the exact same rules as the Qualifying Round. The 8U and 10U participant with the highest score at the end of the Regional Semi-Final will be crowned the Got Skills Champion (both male and female) and will win a Clippers Experience package including two (2) tickets to a Clippers game, exclusive view of warmups, high five experience and on-court recognition during the game. Ties will be decided by using the tie-breaker system above. 12U/14U Divisions The Regional Semi-Final Round will use the exact same rules as the Qualifying Round. The 12U and 14U participant with the highest score at the end of the Regional Semi-Final will be crowned the Got Skills Champion (both male and female) and will win a Clippers Experience package including two (2) tickets to a Clippers game, exclusive view of warmups, high five experience and on-court recognition during the game. Because the 12U and 14U divisions are part of a National Competition hosted by the NBA, the top three finalists in each age group (including both male and female) will move on to the Regional Finals on Saturday, March 11 th at Sports Academy Thousand Oaks. Note: statistics from the Regional Semi-Final Round will not carry over to the Regional Finals. If a winning participant is unable to attend the Regional Finals the next person with the highest score will take their spot. 6
REGIONAL FINALS The top three finalists from the Regional Semi-Final Round will compete against other organizations finalists in the Regional Finals. The Regional Finals first place Champion in each age and gender group qualifies to advance to the National Finals. The Regional Final Champions DO NOT automatically advance to the National Finals. All Regional Finals Champions will have their scores compared to the other ten Regional Finals Champions to determine the top five (5) finishers in each age and gender group advancing to the National Finals. All Regional Finals Champions will be notified by the NBA as to their possible advancement. 7
