A Letter To The Families, It has been my profound privilege to be involved in youth select baseball in Omaha since 1993. My partner, Brad Perreault and myself built the Ultimate Baseball Academy in 2008 to offer a unique facility for kids of all ages to learn the physical fundamentals, mental acuity and emotional strength to play this great game. As UBA evolved, we came to the understanding that it takes an entire program to build successful baseball players. So in 2012 we started the Bandits Select Program and acquired the Gladiator Select program in 2014. THE UBA WAY As important as quality families are to the success of a program, facilities and proper instruction are an important part of the equation as well. To this we add consistent/persistent practice. Baseball is a game of small successes surrounded by many failures. Staying involved in the game is critical to long term development. If you join the Gladiators, you will join the organization in town that brings all of this together. We are the only organization with their own State of the Art indoor facility, State of the Art ballpark and quality instructors to assist your coach s in making your son the best he can be. They say success is when practice and preparation meet opportunity. At UBA, your son will be guaranteed the proper practice and preparation for when the opportunity presents itself. We like to think of UBA as a baseball family. We formed the Bandits to provide the boys in our program with an opportunity to become the best ball players they can possibly be. We brought the Gladiators into the fold to increase the opportunity for more young men to participate at UBA. We want our young men to develop their physical skills but also develop a strong mental toughness and exceptional character. It is our desire to work with you and your son to make this the most enjoyable and memorable time of his life. We pledge to you to do our very best to deliver this experience. We will do this by surrounding your son with the best instruction at our disposal. We will provide him with a safe and positive environment where attitude and effort are the expectations of the player and teaching/encouraging are the obligations of the coach. The following pages are an overview of the program for 2016. I would like to thank you for taking the time to investigate the UBA programs. We hope to see your son in our facility soon! Regards, Terry Mallott President Ultimate Baseball Academy/Play Ball Foundation

AFFILIATION The Gladiators are Nebraska USSSA affiliated. We participate typically in AA, AAA and Major classifications and are always striving to go higher. ORGANIZATIONAL BENEFITS The following is a list of benefits that the organization will offer to UBA players in the 2015 season. We have tried to make this an all inclusive list. It is as follows: The Ultimate Baseball Academy UBA was built and opened in March of 2009. It is 55,000 sq.ft. of pure baseball testosterone. We have 4 bullpens, 15 hitting tunnels and our signature 150 x 150 indoor field turf playing surface that can be divided into 4 quads or opened up for a live full field game. In addition, we have 4 iron mike machines that range in speed to serve all ages. All of our teams utilize the building for our fall clinics and winter practices. The Yard In the winter of 2013, Play Ball! Foundation (the 501(c)3 arm of UBA) bought Gladiator Park in Irvington, NE and re-named it The Yard. Since then we have put over 1.5 million in improvements to the park adding two additional fields to bring the total of five, adding field turf to three infields, lighting all the fields, installing new Daktronics scoreboards to all the fields and improving the sightlines by installing backstop netting at all the fields. We will continue to bring State Of The Art improvements to this facility to make it the nicest youth baseball complex in the Midwest. Organizational Director of Player Development Coach Jason Shockey heads up our Player Development department. Jason grew up here in Omaha. He played college baseball at Indian Hills CC and then Ohio University. After his career ended, he came back to Iowa Western CC as an assistant coach before moving on to Creighton University as an assistant there too. In 2009, Jason was the integral part of developing the Frozen Ropes select program. He did this until 2015 when he accepted the head job at Bellevue West HS. In three short years, he has taken Bellevue West from completely irrelevant to a contending team in the Metro. Organizational Dean of Coaches: Coach John Manganaro will continue to work to develop our coaches. Coach Manganaro was the Head Coach of Wayne State for over 20 years before joining the UBA staff. He hires all our volunteer and paid coaches and then coaches them up in the UBA way of baseball. He provides monthly coaches clinics, helps them prepare practice plans and is available all season long to advise them on both situational tactics as well as player positioning and game strategies. Our players get better in part because our coach s get better!

Coaches: UBA Gladiators operate with paid as well as volunteer coaches at every level. The decision on whether the coach is paid or volunteer is based on a number of factors. Because all coaches operate under Coach Manganaro s instruction and control, we feel that the development of the players will get accomplished. Park Maintenance: There are certain costs associated with running a complex. Mowing and weed control, watering, utilities and general maintenance to buildings and equipment. UBA Membership: All UBA players will receive a 12 month membership to the Ultimate Baseball Academy. The membership will run from 08/01/2016 thru 07/31/2017. This membership entitles your son to full use of the facility including free daily Iron Mike use. In addition, your coaches can reserve hitting tunnels for team hitting at no additional charge. As a member, you will receive a 10% discount on all camps, clinics, private lessons, leagues, etc. You may upgrade to a family membership for an additional $175. Winter Practice Time: 9u 14u is allotted 2.5 hours/week for 12 weeks of indoor quad time at UBA. 8u will receive 1.5 hours/week for the same 12 week period. This practice time begins the first weekend in January and ends the last weekend of March. Super Bowl Sunday we do not practice. Fall Position Specific Camps: Beginning in the fall are weekly position specific clinics with Coach Shockey and several of our other coaches. Fall is a busy time so these are not mandatory, but they are encouraged because fall is a great time for players to improve their game. In Season Week Night Skills: This will be a time for Coach Shockey to work with the boys on various aspects of the game. This will prove to be invaluable in the development as the season goes on. Uniforms: All UBA players will be provided with a complete Nike uniform that includes two hats, two game jerseys, 1 practice jersey, two pairs of pants, 2 pairs of socks, cleats and a belt. Other accessories such as helmets and under liner shirts will be provided by the families at their discretion. We offer all accessories through online flash stores at reduced prices. Helmets that are not bought through the team store must have the team color as its main body. We can provide logo decals and player numbers for a nominal fee.

Field Times: The following is a field usage chart for each age group. It is as follows: Age Game Slots Practice Slots 8 s 12 12 9 s 16 14 10 s 16 14 11 s 16 14 12 s 16 14 13 s 16 14 14 s 16 14 Umpire fees will be included in the program. One umpire will be scheduled for 8 s 12 s. Two umpires will be scheduled for 13 s 14 s. Our 8U teams will play and practice at the Northwest High School Softball Field. Fundraising: The two UBA sponsored fundraising activities are as follows: Team Banner The organization will contribute a team banner to each team for sponsorships. For a minimum of $100, a company can have their name on the team banner. We do not do company logos. 100% of the proceeds will go the family to offset player fees. Teams may also do a more customized banner on their own if they choose to. Contact Larry Vavricek for any company reimbursement options if your team does their own banner. Tournaments: The following is a tournament allotment by age. It is as follows: Age Amount 8,s $2,200 9 s $2,750 10 s $2,750 11 s $2,750 12 s $2,750 13 s $3,300 14 s $3,300 We will plan one travel weekend for 9 s 14 s. Teams may decide to travel more, however this will be handled on a team by team basis. The UBA Invite and the Nebraska State USSSA Tournament must be included in the tournaments selected. Paid Coaches travel expenses will be paid for the one travel tournament selected. Paid Coaches expenses for any other travel tournaments must be covered by the parents. USSSA Registration: All teams will be registered as a Global USSSA participants.

Concession Stand: The concession stand will be coordinated by the Field Manager at Play Ball Foundation. Parents are not required to work. We believe that we have been successful in instigating many of the ideals we set out to do. It is a process and we are excited about the prospects of the future. We believe that partnering with great baseball families like yourselves will guarantee this success. I am open to answering any questions that you may have.
