2013 Sponsorship Packet
Dear Sponsor, BOARD OF DIRECTORS Nicholas Murphy / President Chris Morehead / Vice President Alan Walden / Treasurer Donald Thomas, Jr. / Asst. Treasurer Libby Armstrong / Secretary Rob Bullock / Board Member Chad Gilezan / Board Member Amanda Harris / Board Member Eric Houghtalen / Board Member H.R. Jung / Board Member Mark Poulos / Board Member Jack Shepler / Board Member Stephanie Swanson / Board Member Jack Vorhees / Board Member Annie Zoll / Board Member 2013 is a landmark year for Pride in Indianapolis as it marks the 25 th anniversary of public organized Pride celebrations in our Circle City. Indy Pride, Inc. has had the distinct honor of managing those celebrations since 2003. With record growth since that time, the 2012 Circle City IN Pride Festival and Cadillac Barbie Parade saw attendance of nearly 80,000 participants and over 300 vendors displaying products and services to one of the largest consumer markets the LGBT community. In anticipation of more growth in 2012, we reconfigured the park to better utilize three full city blocks of available space. In doing so, we opened up more space for vendors and visitors and added a second stage for more performance opportunities. Our growth year after year is due to the large number of out of town guests that travel to Indianapolis to see our Parade and celebrate with Indianapolis natives. Indy Pride, Inc. is excited, yet again, to host and plan this event. With your generous sponsorship we can ensure the success of this wonderful week of events and that Indy Pride, Inc. can continue to grow and support its mission. Indy Pride, Inc. is proud of the work it has done over the years and looks forward to continuing that work with your generous sponsorship. Thank you for considering this request. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please feel free to contact us at sponsorship@indyprideinc.org. Sincerely, Nicholas Murphy, President Indy Pride, Inc. 501(c) (3):35-1951286
What does Indy Pride do? Though the Festival and Parade are the largest and most visible events Indy Pride, Inc. plans, Indy Pride is more than just one week of events in June. Indy Pride, Inc. s mission is to educate, honor, support, and celebrate the diversity between the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Straight communities. All profits raised for Indy Pride, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, go toward programming in support of this mission. Some of our 2012 community outreach included: In 2012 Indy Pride, Inc gave away over $10,000 in scholarships to current college and college bound students. Indy Pride is host to the Chris Gonzalez LGBT Library and Archives with over 7,000 titles and decades of LGBT history from Indianapolis and the Midwest. In 2012 Indy Pride donated over $10,000 to the Indiana AIDS Walk and supported organizations like Step-Up, Inc., the Damien Center, Indiana Youth Group, Indy Men s Chorus and many more. Indy Pride now includes under its auspices the Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival and the Circle City Fest volley ball tournament. Indy Pride has performed service projects with Indy Fringe Theatre, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Joy s House, Indianapolis Animal Care and Control. Indy Pride, Inc. has also recently added a Health and Wellness Committee in an effort to engage the health-focused segment of the LGBT community.

In that time it has grown from a one-day event to a weeklong celebration of the Greater Indianapolis LGBT community that includes a community picnic, Pet Pride, a 5k Run/Walk and a Parade. On the 25 th anniversary of Pride in Indianapolis, we look to offer three new events and grow our other events to continue to reach new audiences. The week kicks off on SATURDAY with the 2 nd Annual Rainbow 5K Run/Walk. SUNDAY a day geared toward the family, will see a community picnic at Garfield Park and Drag Softball Game with the Bag Ladies followed by a Pride themed roller-skating night. MONDAY we will celebrate our furry friends with the amazingly popular Pet Pride. TUESDAY will be the Pride of Indy Band Concert featuring the Pep and Jazz Bands. WEDNESDAY night we will introduce a new event, Pride Night at the Movies that will likely feature an a short film selected by the Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival (also an Indy Pride event) and another full length, popular film for all. THURSDAY offers events for all adults over 21 with the Indy Pride Bag Ladies putting on a great show at Greg s Nightclub and Girl Pride, which is hosted by Talbott Street Nightclub. FRIDAY evening we will be introducing a new event in conjunction with the Cabaret at the Columbia Club. All of this leads up to the big day on SATURDAY, starting with the Cadillac Barbie Pride Parade. Cadillac Barbie is the Indy Pride Bag Lady alter ego of Gary Brackett, who was president of Indy Pride when the Parade was added to the Festival in 2005. In less than 10 years, this Parade has grown from a fifteen-minute march to last year s hour and a half production of 21 floats and 115 total units before a crowd of 30,000 spectators. Beginning at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and College Avenue, the Parade will lead to the American Legion Mall and the site of the 2013 Festival. The Festival has seen tremendous growth over the years and last year was no exception with attendance topping 80,000 people. The Festival also set another record with over 300 vendor booths. This year we expect even more growth and we are planning ahead by offering more features, activities and entertainment to appeal to our growing, diverse audience. The final event is an SUNDAY: Adult Swim Party the Sunday after the Parade and Festival to round off a perfect weekend here in Indianapolis.
