CONSTITUTION ARTICLE I - NAME ARTICLE II - OBJECT Bentwood Ladies Golf Association To promote interest in golf among women of San Angelo and to furnish the opportunity to play competitively throughout the year. ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS ARTICLE V - MEETING All women members in good standing of the Bentwood Country Club of San Angelo are eligible for membership. The Officers of the association shall be President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice- President, Secretary/Treasurer, Tournament Chairman, and two Directors, one to be the retiring President. A General Business Meeting shall be held each month. ARTICLE VI - AMENDMENTS The constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of those present and voting at a General Business Meeting providing notice has been given at the previous meeting of the proposed change.
BY-LAWS ARTICLE I - MEMBERSHIP AND DUES Section 1 - Members shall be classified as follows: (A) ACTIVE - One who has an established handicap. Only an active member whose age is 21 years or older may compete in Association trophy. (B) ASSOCIATE - One who does not have an established handicap. She has all privileges of the Association except voting and holding office. Section 2 - Dues for all members of the Association shall be $30 for age 69 and under and members 70+ years of age shall be $20 payable annually in November. Any County Club member joining the Club and the Association after June 1 shall pay $15 for the remainder of that year. Long term Club members deciding to join after June 1 will pay $30. Members whose dues remain unpaid after December 31 each year shall be dropped from the membership list. ARTICLE II - OFFICER ELECTION AND DUTIES Section 1 - Election of Officers Election of officers shall be held at the December meeting. Term of office is for one year beginning with the January meeting. The new officers will take charge of the meeting as new business is introduced. A Nomination Committee consisting of three members shall be appointed by the
President at least two months before the date of the election. Members of the Nominating Committee shall not be restricted from being nominated for office. Additional nominations may be made from the floor. If there are no additional nominations the slate of officers presented by the Nominating Committee may be elected by acclamation. In the event of a vacancy in an office, it shall be filled by the President (Executive Board) with the approval of the general membership. Section 2 - Duties of Officers (A) President - shall preside at all meetings, appoint all committees, and be ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee, and perform all other duties pertaining to the office of President. (B) First Vice-President - shall preside at the meetings in the absence of the President, act for her in case of her absence or disability, shall plan and direct all location Association plays, and determine awarding of prizes. She shall also set the price and buy the gift for the outgoing President. (C) Second Vice-President - shall assist the First Vice-President and perform her duties in her absence or disability. She shall be responsible for all activities pertaining to all out-of-town one day plays.
ARTICLE III - MEETINGS (D) Secretary/Treasurer - shall keep a permanent record of all minutes of each Association meeting and shall handle all Association correspondence. She shall keep a record of all the Standing Rules in the front of her minute book. She shall also have the power to sign checks (President to sign checks in her absence) and will be responsible for all money she receives belonging to the Association. She will keep an accurate account of all dues and shall make a financial report when requested to do so. She shall also keep a current list of members, their addresses, and phone numbers. (E) Tournament Chairman - shall be responsible for planning and directing the local one-day plays. (F) Directors - shall attend all Executive Board Meetings and be ready with advice and support when called upon. Section 1 - The regular monthly business meeting shall be held at the first DESIGNATED PLAY-DAY of the month. Section 2 - Competitive play will be held Tuesday and Saturday of each week. A competitor must play with one or more members of the Association. In the event that no player posts a score for the day s competition, the play will be null and void. Section 3 - Special meetings may be called by the President at the request of five members. The meeting must be announced by email and by the Telephone Committee to members without an email address.
ARTICLE IV - Committees Section 1 - Telephone - shall notify the members without an email address of all meetings and occasions. Section 2 - Rules - shall settle any and all questions pertaining to rules on the course in competitive play. Their decision must be accepted as final. A provisional ball may be played if in doubt. STANDING RULES 1. The local Association will be a permanent member of the Women s West Texas Golf Association. 2. Competitive play will be according to the USGA Rules of Golf except where local rules prevail. A copy of the local Rules of Golf shall be kept in the Secretary s Book, and shall be kept up-to-date at all times by the current Secretary. 3. In competitive Association Play score cards will be signed totaled, dated and turned in. A player must be playing with another Association player in order to turn in a score on a trophy. 4. Each player is responsible for posting her own score. Score must be posted on the same day that play is held. 5. Players will be flighted by their handicaps in each group at the time of play as designated by the Pro Shop. 6. Out-of-town one-day plays on Tuesday will not cancel local Association play.
7. Pairings will be made for Association plays by the First Vice-President as is best suited to the type of play in progress. 8. The Treasurer shall notify the Chairman of the Telephone Committee when a member is dropped from the roll. 9. The President and the Treasurer shall both have signatures on the bank account of the Association. 10. On Tuesday and Saturday Play Days there will be a $.50 chip-in pot/envelope in the Pro Shop. The envelope will have what play day is noted on the envelope. Play Days are at 9:30 a.m., April through October and 11:00 a.m., November through March. (a) Anyone playing at times other than 9:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. on play days can still turn in play day cards and be eligible for play day prizes and birdie balls. A member must have at least 2 LGA members playing to attest to scores (No singles). (b) Play on Saturday after Monthly Business Meetings will be a scramble/shamble format at $3.00 per person. This includes one mulligan per player. The Standing Rules may be amended, added to, suspended, or rescinded by two-thirds vote of the voting members present at the General Business Meeting. The Standing Rules were amended in July, 2007. Please refer to the minutes of the July, 2007 meeting if you have any questions.
