Mukwonago Trail The Mukwonago Ski Trail is manged for both skate and classic technique cross country skiing. During the winter, updates on the condition of this trail can be found at the Cross Country Ski Report. Trail Length: Loops of 2.3 Km, 4.4 Km, 7.5 Km, and 13.6 Km. What to Expect: The Mukwonago Ski Trail flows easily over rolling to hilly terrain. Beginner and novice skiers do well on the 2.3 and 4.4 Km loops. The longer loops are better suited for itermediate skiers. The uphills are located on moderate slopes making the trail easy to ski. The 13.6 Km loop has several long down hills - the longest being hearly one half kilometer. In the winter, when snow conditions permit, the trail is groomeda bout 12 feet wide and classic ski tracks are set on one side. The trail passes through an oak and white pine forest. Several small lakes and ponds are located within view of the ski trail. Parking fee Difficulty level: easy to intermediate Directions: From State Highway 63 in Hayward, Drive 5.8 miles east on State Highway 77. The parking lot is located on the right (south) side of the road just past the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest entrance sign. From Clam Lake, Drive west on State Highway 77 14.5 miles to the trail.
Namekagon Trail In the summer, the east loop is an excellent nature trail. An interpretive booklet provides great information on where to see and hear wildlife along this trail. In the winter, the trail is a classic stype ski trail. During the winter, updates on the condition of this trail can be found at the Cross Country Ski Report. Trail Length: East Loop - 1 mile or 1.7 Km; North Loop - 2.4 Km; South Loop 2.2 Km; perimeter of North and South Loops - 3.4 Km. What to Expect: The east loop is the only loop that can be hiked in the summer. Wetlands on the north and south loops prevent hiking. The winter trail system is groomed and track is set when snow conditions permit. the trail is fairly flat and suitable for beginner or novice skiers. Difficulty level: easy Directions: From Cable, Drive 11 east on County Highway M to County Highway D. Turn left (north) on D and drive 5.5 miles to Forest Road 209. Turn left (west) and drive 0.5 miles to the trailhead which is on the right (north) side of the road.
Nordic Woods This trail is approximately 15 kilometers in length with a number of loop trails. The terrain is rolling and winds through hardwood ridges and around numerous lakes. Rock Lake Trail The Rock Lake Trail is managed primarily as a classic style cross country ski trail. Trail Length: 2 Km, 4 Km, 7.1 Km, 11.5 Km, 16 Km, and Rock Lake Loop which adds 1.8 Km to the 11.5 and 16 Km trails. What to Expect: The Rock Lake Trail is a narrow classic only ski trail that traverses rolling to hilly terrain. This trail is suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers. When snow depths permits, the trail is groomed and track is set. Downhills are long and twisting but have good run outs. The two longest loops pass a number of small scenic lakes. The trail is located in a maple and oak forest that has occassional stands of large white pine. Uphills are relatively short but numerous giving the skier a good workout. Parking Fee Difficulty level: Intermediate to difficult Directions: From State Highway 63 in Cable, drive 7.5 miles east on County Highway M. The parking lot is on the right (south) side of the road.
