Mr. Koce Trajanovski Mayor of the City of Skopje Words of Welcome by Mr. Koce Trajanovski, Major of city of Skopje Welcome to Skopje, a city located in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula, at the crossroad of vital communications, a city with a 2000 years old tradition. I would encourage you to take a walk along the beautiful quay of the river Vardar, to stroll along the narrow streets of the Old Bazaar, which is the biggest bazaar preserved in the Balkans today, to climb up the Upper Town (the "Kale"), in order to feel the spirit of the 1500 years' old fortress and enjoy the panorama of Skopje, to visit St. Pantelejmon church and admire the fresco Lamentation of Christ, bearing the first signs of the Renaissance. I would also invite you to feel the treasures of Skopje and to visit the Islamic monuments Sultan Murat s-hjunkar Mosque and, the Daut Pasha Hamam. Skopje is internationally famous for being the birthplace of Mother Teresa. I am confident that, she would be proud of the helpful and, hospitable attitude that Skopje citizens demonstrate towards visitors. Despite the turbulent history of the Balkans, Skopje has blossomed into a thriving, stimulating city to explore, defining itself as superb tourist destination. Matka Canyon is located west of Skopje. Covering roughly 5,000 hectares, Matka is one of the most popular outdoor destinations in the region and is home to several medieval monasteries. Geology There are 10 caves at Matka Canyon, with the shortest in length being 20 meters (65.6 feet) and the longest being 176 meters (577.4 feet). The canyon also features two vertical pits, both roughly extending 35 meters (114.8 feet) in depth. Biology Matka Canyon is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, some of which is unique to the area. Roughly 20% of plant life is found only at Matka. The canyon is also home to 77 endemic species of butterfly. The canyon's caves are home to large populations of bats. Attractions Due in large part to its proximity to Skopje, Matka Canyon is a popular destination for citizens and tourists. The canyon is one of the region's foremost areas for alpine hiking. The climbing season begins around Easter and ends in November. Kayaking on the Treska River is a popular activity, as are fishing, hunting, and swimming.

COURSE Place: Course Length: ~ 350m Water release: ~ 25m 3 Kayak Center Matka, Skopje River Treska, artificial course CATEGORIES Men: K1, C1, C2 Women: K1, C1 Team event: 3 x K1 m; 3 x K1 w; 3 x C1 m; 3 x C1 w; 3 x C2 m Maximum 3 boats per category per nation for individual events Maximum 1 team per category per nation for team event
ACCREDITATION All national canoeing federations are requested to register at www.canoeicf.com or www.euro2014.canoe.mk where the on-line entry forms are available. If you have any questions or problems concerning accreditations, please, do not hesitate to contact us. Accreditation deadline: 20 th of June 2014 PARTICIPATION FEE The Participation fee of 100 EUR will be charged per each athlete and team officials for the Access Period, from 28 th of June to 6 th of July 2014. The participation fee will include the following services: fficial video service king -water TRAININGS For Preparation of European Canoe Slalom Championship we are offering following training options: Training Period 1: June 25 th June 27 th 2014 Unofficial training Training Period 2: June 28 th July 02 nd 2014 Official trainings in groups All national canoeing federations are requested to register for unofficial training. For registration please use provided registration form on www.euro2014.canoe.mk. Unofficial training will be charged 5 euro per participant / per hour. Maximum 25 boats per group. Unofficial Training schedule will be provided at least 5 days before the starting date of trainings on www.euro2014.canoe.mk Registration deadline: 15 th of June 2014. ATHLETE S VILLAGE Near the competition area will be athlete s village with big tent for the athletes. Each team will have place for relaxation with suitable seating and tables as well as a with dividers for NFs. Toilets will be available near the big tent.
INTERNET ACCESS High Speed Wireless internet access will be available on all venue - the whole of the competition and training area, all office spaces including ICF offices, Jury, accreditation office and Media Centre. ACCESS PASS AND PARKING Free access pass and car parking near the athlete s village will be guaranteed for up to four accredited vehicle. OFFICIAL VIDEO SERVICE During the competition days technical video signal will be provided to tent near athlete s village. More technical details regarding technical video signal will be available at http://euro2014.canoe.mk BOAT STORAGE Boat storage racks will be placed at athlete s village. BOAT REPAIR The Organizing Committee will provide place and equipment during the competition days. FIRST AID that emergency medical services will cover only emergency cases and that all participants are responsible to arrange, at their cost, their own medical insurance policy. WATER SAFETY Rescuing in competition area during the competition days will be organized. Medical Insurance Organizing Committee kindly asks all participants of World Championships to ensure medical insurance policy in their countries. All costs above the medical insurance policy. Organizing Committee will not cover any expenses in connection with hospital or dental treatment. DOPING CONTROL Doping control will be performed in accordance to the ICF Anti-doping requirements and WADA standards.
REFRESHMENTS A small tent with drinking water and refreshments will be available in athlete s village. SECURITY Security for accredited people Security personnel at venue will be present on-site 24 hours per day from 28 th of June to 6 th of July.
