Goals to Achieve this Mission Goal 1: Make every effort to keep the barriers entry for all participants as low as possible, especially for first time skaters. Goal 2: To utilize a system of volunteerism that allows for members with limited means, or whomever may choose, to reduce a portion of financial commitment to the association by working at designated NUSE fundraising activities. Goal 3: To be a good steward of team and community resources. 4

Goal 4: To continually develop and maintain programs, which recognize and builds on the strengths of the individual, the team, and the Association, by helping players achieve their personal best on and off the ice. Goal 5: To develop Team of Excellence as this minimizes at lower levels and maximizes at upper levels. The Mission Statement is intended to provide guidance and direction to the Board of Directors and the general membership as decisions are made that affect the future members of the NUSE Hockey Association. Introduction: Welcome to the New Ulm Sleepy Eye Hockey Association (NUSE Hockey Association). The NUSE Hockey Association Board wants and hopes to create a fun and exciting experience for players and family members that will continue for years to come. The intent of this manual is to give a general outline of the NUSE hockey program. Please read it carefully. If you have any questions, feel free to call any of the board members listed on the NUSE Hockey Association website. A set of bylaws, governs the NUSE Hockey Association, which is established by USA Hockey and our local minimum 9 member Board of Directors. Each year, three new members are elected to the board for a three-year term. All members are eligible to run for the board positions and attend the monthly board meetings. NUSE Hockey Association Meetings: 1. NUSE Hockey Association board meetings are held monthly. NUSE Hockey Association members are welcome to call any of the board members to find out the date, time and location of the board meeting. A membership meeting will be held each year on the first evening of tryouts. NUSE Hockey Association Committees: The NUSE Hockey Association is comprised of three committees. These committees meet each month, or at the call of the committee chair, to discuss the day-to-day operations of the association and to make recommendations to the NUSE Hockey Association Board. All NUSE Hockey Association members are welcome to attend or join any of the committees. Girls Classifications 8 & Under Girls (Born on or after July 1, 2007) 10 & Under Girls (July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2007) 12 & Under (July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2005) 15 & Under (July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2003) Youth Classifications Youth 6U/Mini-Mite (Born on or after July 1, 2009) Youth 8U/Mite (July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2009) Youth 10U/Squirt (July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2007) Youth 12U/Peewee (July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2005) Youth 14U/Bantam (July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2003) All new NUSE Hockey Association players may be required to submit a photocopy of their state/government certified birth certificate to the NUSE Hockey Association Registrar before they can be on a team. All players are required to register at their appropriate level listed above. See Try-Out & Team Selection for a player interested in moving to another level. Team Selection Teams will be selected by the tryout evaluators, assisted by the head coach and the HOC, base hockey skills 9

team play attitude behavior commitment ability to be coached previous year's performance past coach's assessment on the following criteria: In compliance with MN Hockey guidelines, a player that moves up early to play at a higher age classification may not move back to the lower level once teams have been selected. Each parent/player has the option of not playing at the IIAII level. The Hockey Operations Committee must be notified of a player's intent, not to play at the "A" level, prior to the selection (tryout) process. If a player has a birthdate that falls into a particular level lower than his/her grade level but the player would prefer to play with his/her grade level of school, the player is allowed to register to play with his/her grade. NUSE Hockey Association will allow open roster movement for Peewee and Bantam levels until December 31 st for reasons due to player safety or development, injuries and Bantam players who may opt to play High School early. To move a player from one team to another for any reason, the following needs to be accomplished: The coaches involved and the player's parent(s) need to agree with the move. This must be done BEFORE the move is proposed. The proposed move will go before the NUSE Hockey Association Board of Directors, where the final decision will be made. The move needs to be recommended by the Hockey Operations Committee and approved by the NUSE Hockey Association Board of Directors All girls trying out for a boys team will be evaluated during the tryout process for selection to the "A" team. All others not making the "A" team will be placed on the appropriate team from the recommendation of the Hockey Operations Committee to the NUSE Board of Directors." Refund Policy: 1. If a player quits prior to team selection they will receive 75% of their fees and NUSE will waive their volunteer hour commitment. 2. If a player quits after team selections are complete they will not receive any of their fees back but will have volunteer hour obligations reduced by the following % 10

a. Quits in the month of October: 0% hours required b. Quits in the month of November: 25% hours required c. Quits in the month of December: 50% hours required d. Quits in the month of January: 75% hours required 3. The NUSE board of directors will review other situations on a case by case basis. 4. For Players moving up to high school teams after team selection, refund 2/3 of fee with 0 volunteer hours are required. 5. Players must declare at registration if they are planning to try out for High School teams. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Each player is a member of a team. As a member, each player is to follow the team majority ruling. This means that an additional cost(s) might be incurred. (Examples: out-of-town ice time, 3rd tournament, guaranteed gate fees or tournaments exceeding the maximum amount set by the Board of Directors). 2. Game jerseys are expensive to replace for this reason players are require to use a black NUSE approved garment bag. Players are allowed to wear their jerseys ONLY during the following occasions: a. School only on game days b. Fridays if there is a Saturday game scheduled for a player's NUSE Hockey Association sanctioned game c. Team pictures, d. Specified fundraiser and events. e. Equipment must be returned or the family will be required to pay for the equipment that was issued. f. A player that quits MUST report to the Registrar. NOTE: Jersey cannot be worn at any other time. The player's parent(s) will be responsible for any damage done to the jersey, outside of a NUSE Hockey Association sanctioned game. 3. Game jerseys and all other association owned equipment (helmets, skates, shin guards and breezers) are to be returned to the Equipment Manager by April 15th. 4. Parents should make coaches aware of any "condition" (physical, medical, etc.) that may affect their child's playing skills/ability at any time. 5. All players and coaches MUST wear helmets while on the ice. 6. Only players and NUSE Hockey Association Board approved Coaches and/or Student coaches will be allowed on the ice. Obligations: 11

1. Each family is required to work volunteer hours in an effort to keep costs as low as possible. Your support, even beyond the required hours of obligation is needed to keep costs at a minimum for our hockey programs. Use chart below to determine the required number of volunteer hours required per family registered in the NUSE Hockey Association. Level of Player 1 st Year in Association Returning Family Mini Mite 4 12 Mite 12 20 Squirt / 10U and Higher Level 20 36 NOTES: Follow chart for player at highest level family member Includes a minimum of 4 hours at sauerkraut dinner, pasta dinner or end of year tournament IMPORTANT: For any family that chooses not to work their hours of obligation, they MUST pay $25/hour for hours not worked. Example: 36 required fundraising hours x 25.00 per hour = $900.00 2. All NUSE registered families are required to purchase a minimum of 10 meal tickets for $120.00, selling them at $12.00 each, and provide a cake for the Sauerkraut Dinner and/or Pasta fundraiser. Families can buy any combination of New Ulm Sauerkraut or Sleepy Eye Pasta Supper that they choose, but the total number of tickets must equal 10. 3. Other obligations as deemed necessary by the NUSE Hockey Association Board of Directors. 4. All obligations listed above in items 1, 2, & 3 must be fulfilled for the previous season before a player can be registered for the next season. Note: Hours worked are only for that current year/season and end in April for the previous season, May hours will go toward the upcoming hockey season. VOLUNTEER HOURS/FUNDRAISERS Fundraisers are a necessary function of the NUSE Hockey Association to provide money for ice time, equipment, and related expenses. Refer to the above Obligations section, for information on number of volunteer hours and dollar amounts associated with fundraisers. NOTE: No hours are given to work the clock, announce the game, or run the penalty box at home games. This is the home team's responsibility and members are required to fulfill this role. NOTE: Children (under the age of 18) are NOT allowed to work for adults at any fundraiser (unless otherwise 12

approved by the NUSE Hockey Association board). Where do I sign up for fundraisers? Signup for fundraising volunteer hours are available online, check the NUSE Hockey Association website http://newulm.pucksystems2.com and click on the tab labeled "Dibs". You must create an account and be signed in before you may access the Dibs system. After you have worked your scheduled shift the concession coordinator will go back into the Dibs system and mark your shift completed, which will credit you your hours. If you have any questions regarding fundraising sign up, contact NUSE Hockey Association board member assigned to Marketing / Fundraising. What do I do when I arrive for my signed up time? When you report to the New Ulm Civic Center, sign your name and time on the sign-up sheet, which is located at the Concessions Stand or at the designated fundraising location. When your shift is completed, sign out and mark the time. If you have another adult working for you, that substitute must document whom they are working for on the sign-up sheet at the time the hours are worked. All hours of obligations are documented so that each member family will be credited accordingly. Also, keep a personal record of your hours worked. NOTE: Members cannot donate hours to another member without prior approval from the NUSE Hockey Association Board. To obtain approval, requests must be sent and acknowledged in writing to any board member prior to the hours being worked. Chairpersons/coordinators will turn in the hours worked to the NUSE Hockey Association Concessions coordinator after the activity to give credit hours to the members. Home Tournament Coordinator 14

If you are interested in being a Home Tournament Coordinator, contact the Tournament Director. Home Tournament Coordinator responsibilities are outlined in the Home Tournament Contract. If you have questions regarding responsibilities, please see a NUSE Hockey Association board member for a copy of the Home Tournament Coordinator Contract. 32 volunteer hours earned for completion of a home tournament coordinator. Coaches If you are interested in being a coach, you must fill out a coach application (located on the NUSE Hockey Association website under the DOCUMENTS menu) and fill out a criminal background check. All coaching applications are reviewed by the Hockey Operations Committee (HOC) and coaching recommendations are presented to the NUSE Hockey Association Board for approval. Coach responsibilities are outlined in the coaching contract. If you have questions regarding responsibilities, please see a NUSE Hockey Association board member or the Hockey Operations Committee (HOC) director for a copy of the coaching contract. See coach's contract for reimbursement options. 32 volunteer hours earned for completion of a parent coach during a NUSE Hockey Association season. Parent coaches receive no monetary compensation. Non-parent coaches will receive a monetary compensation rate, determined by the NUSE Hockey Association Board prior to the beginning of hockey season. Team Representatives If you are interested in being a Team Representative, contact the Registrar/Team Rep Coordinator. All potential Team Representatives are reviewed by the Association Management Committee (AMC) and recommendations are presented to the NUSE Hockey Association Board for approval. Team Representative responsibilities are outlined in the Team Rep Contract. If you have questions regarding responsibilities, please see an NUSE Hockey Association board member for a copy of the Team Rep Contract. 32 volunteer hours earned for completion of a team representative during a hockey season. REFEREES All referees are to have a current referee certification card with them before they can referee a game. Each referee will have to provide his or her own helmet, jersey, black pants, whistle and skates. Referee reimbursements: 1/2 of the referee certification fee will be refunded to current and former NUSE Hockey Association members who have made themselves available to work throughout the year. Referees are to insure that all players are properly dressed for safety including the proper mandatory use of mouth guards. NEW ULM SLEEPY EYE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION OPERATING RULES 15

ATTENTION: Any serious acts not covered in these rules will be discussed and ruled on by the NUSE Hockey Association A. In-season Controlled Substance Violations 1. Regardless of quantity, a player shall not: a. Use tobacco in any form and including electronic cigarettes. b. Use, consume, possess, buy, sell or give away any tobacco, alcohol or controlled substance. 2. Consequences a. After a violation has been determined, the student shall lose eligibility to participate in any NUSE Hockey Association activities for the period covering the next two (2) consecutive games, or two (2) weeks of the season, whichever is greater. There is no exception permitted for a player who enters a treatment program after a violation has been determined. b. 2nd violation-loss of eligibility for the period covering 6 games or 6 weeks, whichever is greater. c. 3rd violation-loss of eligibility for the period covering 12 games or 12 weeks, whichever is greater. d. Summer violations-treated same as in-season violations. e. More serious violations will warrant indefinite suspension, pending a meeting of the Hockey Operations Committee and the player's parents, to propose a course of action to the NUSE Hockey Association board for a final decision. B. Attendance policy 1. Attendance policy will be determined by team coaches. C. Behavior policy and code 1. New Ulm Civic Center & Sleepy Eye Arena Discipline a. If any NUSE Hockey Association member, player, parent, or coach is under disciplinary action from the New Ulm Civic Center, the NUSE Hockey Association will honor that action. If a suspension from the New Ulm Civic Center or the Sleepy Eye Arena is in effect, it will be in effect for any NUSE Hockey Association function occurring at the Civic Center (game, practice, tournament, fundraising, concession, etc.) during the period of suspension. b. Anytime a player misses a game or practice because of disciplinary action from the Civic Center 16

Staff, the absence(s) will be considered "unexcused" who will then incur any and all consequences related to NUSE Hockey Association attendance policies. 2. Damage to Property a. Property will include, but not be limited to, all property of the New Ulm Civic Center or Sleepy Eye Arena, buses and personal property damaged intentionally or accidentally through irresponsible or negligent actions. b. Offender will pay any damage costs. c. Offender will receive an indefinite suspension pending a meeting of the Hockey Operations Committee and the player's parents, to propose a course of action to the NUSE Hockey Association board for a final decision. d. All teams and individuals will keep the locker rooms that they are using in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition, both home and away. Failure to do so will result in the loss of locker room privileges at the New Ulm Civic Center. First offense is the loss of the locker room usage for two weeks. Any monetary damages to the locker rooms or facilities will be paid in full by that team. 3. Jewelry, Body Piercings a. Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, body piercings, etc. are not to be worn at any time that a player is on the ice and associated with the team. i. 1st Violation-reminder. ii. 2nd Violation-player will leave game or practice (unexcused). iii. 3rd Violation-indefinite suspension pending a meeting of the Hockey Operations Committee and the player's parents, to propose a course of action to the NUSE Hockey Association board for a final decision. D. Overnight behavior policy 1. All NUSE Hockey Association rules will be in effect. 2. Individual coaches will setup specific rules of conduct for hotel, rinks, restaurants, etc. on trips. 3. Parents are responsible for their child's adherence to rules on a trip. 4. If rules are violated, player will be sent home. 5. If a player's parent(s) are not on the trip, the coach will call the player's parent(s) and have the player taken home. E. Severe Unsportsmanlike Conduct 1. When witnessed by a coach, referee, or association member, any player who commits a severe unsportsmanlike act at NUSE Hockey Association sponsored event may be indefinitely suspended pending a meeting of the Hockey Operations Committee and the player's parents, to propose a course of action to 17

the N NUSE Hockey Association Board for a final decision. 2. Any allegations of an unsportsmanlike act not witnessed by referee, coach or association member should be brought to the attention of all parties involved including coach, players involved and parents. 3. Acts that are considered "unsportsmanlike" include, but are not limited to: certain language and gestures, throwing objects, refusing to shake hands, instigating problems during a handshake or contest, stealing, etc. F. School Behavior and Academic Performance 1. If a player is suspended from school that player will also be suspended from all NUSE Hockey Association activities, which take place during the suspension. This policy will be in effect on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the case of a suspension, which spans a weekend. 2. Based on recommendations of school officials and/or parents, the NUSE Hockey Association can suspend a player from NUSE Hockey Association activities for failing to reach minimum academic standards. The association will seek to establish (with the aid of school officials) a level of improvement to be shown by the player before the academic suspension is lifted. G. Possession of Weapons by Players 1. Players are not to possess any firearm, pneumatic type gun, knife or other weapon on their person or in the player s bags at any time. 2. Tools needed for equipment maintenance must be checked with coach for acceptable storage and use. 3. Any player who is found to possess any firearm, pneumatic type gun, knife or other weapon will be subject to immediate, indefinite suspension by the coach pending a meeting of the Hockey Operations Committee and the player's parents, to propose a course of action to the NUSE Hockey Association Board for a final decision. H. Adherence by Membership 1. As a member of the NUSE Hockey Association you must adhere to these rules, by signing an "Acceptance of Rules and Regulations" agreement, which states that these rules are understood and accepted by the player. I. Grievance Process 1. If an association member has any complaint, they should first talk to the coach (if applicable) to resolve the issue. 2. If the complaint is not resolved satisfactorily by the coach, the association member is required to fill out a "Grievance Form", which is located on the NUSE Hockey Association website or in the wall pocket at the Arena, and present to any NUSE Hockey Association board member. The grievance form, to be 18

completed in its entirety, is mandatory before the Hockey Operations Committee (HOC) will broach a complaint. 3. Hockey Operations Committee (HOC) will review grievance forms and come up with a suitable resolution to the situation. 4. HOC will make a recommendation and present to the NUSE Hockey Association Board for action to resolve the situation. J. Tryout Policy Tryouts for teams will be conducted by the Tryout Coordinator. Only players, head coaches, Hockey Operations Committee members, & evaluators will be allowed in the ice rinks during the tryouts. Spectators are required to be in specifically designated areas and to not interfere with the tryout selection process. 1. The number of teams at each Division and the Classification (A, B, or C) of each team will be recommended to the Board by the HOC for approval. 2. Individual Skills that will be tested and/or evaluated include: Skating, Puck Handling, Passing, Agility and Shooting 3. Game skills that will be evaluated include: Offensive play, Defensive play, Game sense, Board Play, Work ethic (hustle) 4. Players will be evaluated by a panel of at least 3evaluators. If an Evaluator has a child at a particular level, Evaluator will be removed from this level. 5. Evaluation panel will determine the top 75% of the team s players. The remaining 25% or three players, whichever is less, will be decided by the level coach. If the coach to determine the remainder of the team is a parent of one of the players in that level, the evaluation panel will determine 100% of the team. 6. Players must have registration complete before tryouts. Players must try-out for the age appropriate level in which they registered (Squirts, 10U, Pee Wee, 12U, Bantam, 15U). A player may not register and/or tryout for more than one Division unless approved by HOC. If a player is granted permission to try-out for a higher level, player must attend try-outs for both age appropriate level and higher level. In addition the HOC may ask a player or players to try-out for higher level based upon a need to fulfill a team. If a player is granted permission to try-out at a higher level, the player must be in the top 5 players selected for the team. If a player decides to Try-out for High School hockey and does not notify the NUSE HOC of their intent prior to Try-Outs, player will not receive a registration refund from NUSE Hockey Association if they decide to play High School hockey 7. Player placement and team sizes will be recommended to the Board by the HOC for the Board s approval. 8. Parents or relatives are not allowed on the bench, ice or penalty box area during tryouts unless requested to assist with running benches during scrimmages 9. Player placements will be posted on the NUSE Hockey Association website within 48 hours of NUSE Hockey Board approval of team selections. 10. Grievances of player selection may only be submitted in writing to the NUSE Hockey Operations Director within two days after the teams are selected 11. If a player misses some or all of the Tryouts, they will be placed on the lower level classification team 19

for their division. Exceptions can be made by the HOC & Board for reasons including but not limited to injuries, sickness, etc. 12. Previous year classification of a player does not guarantee that same or higher classification the following year. 13. Parents need to remember that youth hockey s primary goal is for players to learn life lessons, work ethic, team work, learn the game of hockey and have fun. 14. Parents are not allowed to watch tryouts, they must remain in designated area (eg, lower level lobby). K. NUSE Hockey Association Parent Code of Conduct It is expected that all NUSE Hockey Association parents and spectators observe the following principles and sign below. 1. I will enforce and support the Code of Conduct for players. 2. I will reinforce the positive aspects of any game and team s effort. 3. I will refrain from ridiculing or verbally confronting any player, coach, referee, parent or other spectator. Vulgar or obscene language will not be tolerated. Please refer to MN Hockey Spectator Rule on automatic 3 game suspension. 4. I understand that if I have a grievance against another member of the association, I will follow the grievance procedure process. 5. I understand that hockey is meant for my child s enjoyment and I will encourage and support my child s desire to play 6. I will support and promote Fair Play by encouraging my child to play by the rules. I will display and teach good sportsmanship for both teams in victory or defeat. I will show respect for players, coaches, and officials. 7. I will recognize the importance of our volunteer coaches & non parent coaches. I will take the time to attend team meetings to get to know my child s coaching philosophy, expectations, and guidelines. 8. I understand when my child is on the ice, the coaches do the coaching. I will refrain from giving instructions to my child or any player from the sidelines. 9. I understand that it is my role to teach my child sportsmanship, how to deal with success and failure, and to support my child s development in the game. 10. I will strive to become knowledgeable of the rules of the game and I will support the official s decisions on and off the ice. 11. I understand the importance of skill development. For the younger age groups, I will remember that practices benefit my child more than games and competition. 12. I will respect locker rooms as private areas for players, coaches, and officials. 13. I will wait 24 hours for Cooling Off period to contact a coach if I have an issue with my child s coach. If this rule is not followed: 1 st offense parent will miss one game; 2 nd offense player & parent will miss three games and a meeting must be held with Coach, Parent, Player and HOC Director, Coaching Coordinator or another member of the HOC before player is allowed to play in a game; 3 rd Offense parent(s) will need to go in front of the NUSE Board for review with consequences up to possible removal of player from the team. 20

L. Player Code of Conduct: The intent of this Conduct policy is for the NUSE Hockey Association player to follow and adhere to: 1. To take pride in their team and contribute to the team s unity. To adhere strictly to the coach s rules and be supportive of the coach s practice plans, game plans, and other decisions. To participate in all games and practices unless there is a compelling reason for missing. To notify the coach or manager in advance when they must miss. A reason such as religion class, school activity, illness, etc. must also be given. To be at the rink by the appointed time as set by the coach. 2. Hockey is recognized as a team sport; as such the interests of the team shall take precedence over individual exploits. 3. No player shall criticize another teammate s play. No player shall criticize referees, coaches or opposing players. The only individuals who may speak to officials are the coaches and /or designated captains under the instructions of their coaches. 4. All players are expected to conduct themselves in a respectable manner. Destructive or delinquent behavior, during or after a game or practice, will not be tolerated. To be attentive when coaches explain practices drills, game strategies, or passes along other information or instructions. 5. No attempt should be made to deliberately injure another player(s). Any player incurring a MATCH penalty or other offense deemed equally serious by the coach shall be subject to suspension beyond the USA HOCKEY rules as deemed appropriate by the NUSE Hockey Board & NUSE Hockey Operations Committee. The NUSE Hockey Operations Director and NUSE Hockey President will be notified as soon as possible of the incident. 6. All players will adhere to the NUSE Hockey Association policies regarding Substance Use and Weapons. M. Player Conduct Specifics/Consequences There will be ZERO tolerance of abusive behavior. Harassment, obscene language or gestures, and other behavior deemed to be abusive directed toward coaches, referees, minor officials, opponents, teammates, spectators or association officials will not be tolerated and will have the following consequences: o First Offense: The player will be verbally warned by the coach with the parent(s) present and the NUSE HOC Director or Coaching Coordinator) notified in writing via letter or e-mail. If needed, a coach can include loss of playing time. o Second Offense: The player will be removed from the game, practice or other team event. In the case of a game or practice the player will be required to leave the premise and will be warned in writing via email or letter from the Coach and for the Coach to notify the HOC Director as soon as possible of the 2 nd offense. A meeting will be held with player, parent(s), coach and the HOC Director and/or Coaching Coordinator before player is able to practice or play in a game. If a 2 nd offense occurs at an Out of Town tournament, player will be not be allowed to participate in the remaining tournament games until the above meeting was held. o Third Offense: The player will be removed from the team. Pending a meeting with the NUSE Hockey Board & NUSE HOC to determine the penalty, penalties will range from a three game suspension to removal from the team for the remainder of the season. o Any player misconduct not specifically alluded to above will be dealt with on an individual basis 21

by the NUSE HOC and the NUSE Hockey Board. Failure to sign and follow the code of conduct will result in an incomplete registration status for tryouts and the start of the season. o I have read & understand the principles stated above. I agree to abide by those principles with the understanding that if I do not follow the NUSE Hockey Player Code of Conduct I may be asked to leave any practice, game or event. The NUSE Hockey Player Code of Conduct is in addition what is in the NUSE Hockey Policy, USA Hockey or Minnesota Hockey Hand Books. 22

NUSE TEAMS SQUIRTS & 10U At this level, more emphasis is placed on developing the player's hockey knowledge and skill, while maintaining the fun and enjoyment of the sport. At this level, a higher level of commitment is required. Each player must be prepared to give their full attention and their best effort. Skills taught at the Squirt level include: Forward and backward skating Forward and backward crossovers Stick handling and shooting Passing and receiving a pass Basic Team skills and positioning Advanced skating skills Basic Team concepts Stick handling and shooting Passing and receiving Rules of the game (penalties are enforced) At this level, the players are divided into teams depending upon the level's numbers. Players with more advanced skills will be placed on the "A" team. These players will be selected by tryout evaluators, which will consist of non-biased, non-parent individuals with hockey experience. All other players will be placed on "B" and/or "C" teams by the same evaluators. There is no League for Squirts however teams are encouraged to play District Teams. The number and location of games will be scheduled at the beginning of the season. The NUSE Hockey Association will fund one (1) away tournament, not to exceed $750 for each team; and one home tournament. NUSE Hockey Association will NOT pay guaranteed gate at away tournaments. Players of each team have the option of self-pay to participate in additional out of town tournaments. The Squirt level district tournament does count for one tournament if the team chooses to attend as it is a voluntary end of the year tournament. If no home tournament, NUSE Hockey Association will fund a second tournament. The NUSE Hockey Association will provide game jerseys and 1 pair of game socks for each player, as well as full equipment for the goalie as available. Required equipment that must be worn by the player includes skates, helmet, BLACK breezers, shin guards, an attachable functional mouth guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, and hockey gloves. For male players, an athletic supporter with a protective cup is recommended. For female players, a pelvic protector is recommended. It is recommended that each player have at least 2 good sticks. At the end of the season, players can keep their game socks. Coaches will introduce their discipline policy in writing to their team at the first team meeting and will have both players and parents sign the policy. If a parent has any questions concerning the disciplinary action they should follow the grievance process, found on page 14, "I. Grievance 23

Process". PEEWEES and GIRLS 12 & UNDER At this level, more emphasis is placed on developing the player's hockey knowledge and skill, while maintaining the fun and enjoyment of the sport. Advanced skills, above the Squirt level, are taught at the Peewee level. All other players will be placed on "8" and/or "C" teams by the same evaluators. All Teams will play in a District 4 League. The number and location of games will be scheduled at the beginning of the season. Teams are not restricted to play outside District 9 for non- league games. The NUSE Hockey Association will fund one (1) away tournament for each team; and one home tournament. NUSE Hockey Association will NOT pay guaranteed gate at away tournaments. Players of each team have the option of self-pay to participate in additional out of town tournaments. If no home tournament, NUSE Hockey Association will fund a second away tournament. USA Hockey Safe Sport Program The NUSE Hockey Association recognizes and has adopted the USA Hockey Safe Sport Program in both on-ice and off-ice NUSE Hockey Association hockey practices, locker room dressing periods, sanctioned and nonsanctioned hockey games, tournaments, fund-raising. The safety of its participants is of paramount importance to USA Hockey and NUSE Hockey Association. Beginning the 2014-2015 New Ulm Sleepy Eye Hockey Association, adopted at the September 17, 2014 regular NUSE Board meeting, a more restrictive policy than set forth by USA Hockey Safe Sport Program and Minnesota Hockey for locker room monitors. Locker room monitors shall be assigned by team representatives. Locker room monitors shall obtain the locker room from New Ulm Civic Center staff (coach, parent volunteer, board member). Locker room monitors shall remain in the locker room throughout all players dressing for practice or games and shall remain in the locker room until all players exit the locker room. No volunteer hours shall be given for locker room monitoring. 25
