Helen and I will start the year off by traveling to the Holy Land for an adventure that we have talked about for a long time. It is in times like this that I grow in appreciation for my native Burke County and the many benefits we enjoy living in this beautiful area. I know we will see some wonderful sights in Israel yet I still am in awe at the vista every time I approach the 15 th green at this marvelous place called Mimosa Hills. How lucky we are! Continued on page 2

From the President : 2 Continued from page 1 By now, you will have received several mailings with the Golf Dress Code, House Rules, Rules and Golf Etiquette Governing Use of Course, Membership Categories with Descriptions and Dues Structure and the new Fee Schedule as of January1, 2018 I request that you review these as they are very important documents for the use of the Club and Facilities. All of these were approved by your Board at the November meeting. You will also be receiving the 2018 Tournament Schedule. We have some exciting Promotions coming up in 2018 that will be published in various ways. Stay Tuned! The Annual Meeting of Mimosa Hills Golf Club, Inc. will be held on January 28, 2018 and I invite you to attend. Since this will be my last Newsletter as your President, I want to thank all of you for your support during my tenure. Ronny Wilson, Board President The Staff at Mimosa Hills would like to give a BIG THANKS to the members who gave to the Employee Christmas Fund. We truly appreciate the kindness from the members we serve. We wish all of you a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

On The Course: 4 I hope all had a safe and happy holiday and wishing everyone the best for 2018! Overall from the golf course standpoint, 2017 was a successful year. A relatively normal summer had the bentgrass greens avoid major damage. July was extremely hot but we were spared in June and August. The worst years are when those 3 months have above average temperatures and humidity. It is amazing how the timing of the afternoon thunder showers Mcan a y make 2 0 1or 4break us. A late day rain with evening clearing is best versus the mid afternoon shower then a beating sun and most likely the temperature spiking to 90 degrees with very high humidity. A recipe for disaster, made even worse if an afternoon golf tournament is occurring with all the foot traffic. The rain was plentiful which allowed the bermudagrass to be very healthy. This helps our thin outer areas to fill in with grass coverage, especially where the trees have been removed. Hole #12 is our prime example of a plan coming to fruition, thanks to the donors of the Mimosa Hills Preservation Club. A firm pat on the back to Bill and Adam Beutell and their staff for the outstanding job done on adding close to 400 tons of sand to the bunkers. Another successful Preservation Club effort. There are some funds available from this years donations to remove some trees on hole #14 and put some sod down (i.e. near the cross fairway bunkers). Stay tuned for plans for 2018. Looking forward to a successful 2018 and we appreciate everyone s support! Dan Winters, Superintendent
