EVENT PACK, 20 th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships 1 Invitation from the CMAS Underwater Hockey Commission: On behalf of the CMAS Underwater Hockey Commission, I would like to invite you to the 20th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships to be hosted in Quebec City, Canada. The sport continues to grow and we have set a target of having 50 teams from at least 16 countries competing. To allow this number of teams, the event will be 2 days longer in duration to permit all teams to attend the Championship. The organising team is well underway with preparations and we expect you will join us to experience a very memorable and happy time in the beautiful city of Quebec City. EVENT PACK, 20 th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships 3 VENUE The venue for the Championship is the Sports and Physical Education Pavilion Pool (Pavillon d éducation physique et des sports (PEPS) pool), located at the heart of Université Laval campus, Quebec City, Province of Quebec, Canada. http://www.peps.ulaval.ca/promo-medias/informations-sur-lesinstallationshttp://www.peps.ulaval.ca/promo-medias/informations-sur-les-installations You can visualize pictures of the pool, (under and above water) in Appendix A. Facility The PEPS facility routinely holds national-level competitions in synchronized swimming, swimming and water polo (2-3 per year), with up to 500 hundred participants at each of these events. In October 2014, a FINA World Cup (synchronized swimming) was held in the competition pool. It also held a successful 2016 Canadian Underwater Hockey National Championships, which served as a first test event for the World Championships. Welcome Function Venue The Opening ceremony will be organised to comply with 3.3 of the current CMAS Competition procedures, and the final venue for the welcome function is to be determined at this point. The information will be distributed on the Website once determined. Medal and Closing Ceremony The Medal and closing Ceremonies will be organised onsite, and information will be distributed once the location is determined. Final Party Venue We hope to host the final party on Campus, to allow players staying on campus to attend by foot. Weather permitting, the function will be held outside and consist of a buffet-dinner, with entertainment and bar services. The information on the final party will be posted on the website and Facebook page once it is finalized. Doping Control The doping control at the World Championships will be done via the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sports (CCES). CCES is the internationally renowned centre for any sport doping control activity in Canada. Divisions Each federation can only enter one team per division. Division are as follows: WOMEN: Elite (no age cut off) and Masters (32 years and over) MEN: Elite (no age cut off) and Masters (35 years and over)

Quebec City Bid, 20 th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships 5 Player Selection and Replacement Players Teams are limited to 12 players and must be selected before the submission of the team list on the 1st June 2018. Players may be replaced between the 1st June and 15 days before tournament registration on medical grounds only. All players must possess a valid CMAS license. CMAS Licences may be purchased up to 30 days before the event. Playing Caps and Swimsuits Design for caps and swimsuits must be submitted to the CMAS Tournament Director for approval before 1 st April 2018: Tristan.reynard56@gmail.com. Please use Cap and Swimsuit Approval Request in your email request subject line. Coaches caps Fluorescent Green with COACH printed on the cap is acceptable New rule 11.2.1 All players of a team must wear swimsuits of the same design as to colour and pattern (1 or 2 piece suit and/or rash vest and/or shirt), which may have an imprint of their flag or country. Each team must have two sets of identical swimsuits, one light in colour (when the team is using white sticks) and one dark in colour (when the team is using black sticks), and both sets need approval prior to arrival at the competition. Light Colours: White, Yellow, Light Blue, Light Grey, Light Orange. Dark Colours: Black, Blue, Royal Blue, Navy Blue, Grey, Brown, Green, Red, Dark Orange Cap Numbers: Limited to numbers between 1 and 15 inclusive. To clarify this means a members of a team may wear a mix either 1 or 2 piece swimsuits during a game as long as they are of the same colour and pattern and have been approved by the Tournament Director. Training All teams will get organised training time as provided in the time schedule. Cost for these is included in the tournament fee. With 50 teams allocated practice will be 30mins. Teams wishing to get additional training time before the competition can do so starting on Monday y 16 th. Cost is CAD$150 per hour per court. Teams should communicate with info@uwhworlds2018.ca to make reservations. Reservations must be made prior to June 1 st 2018.

Quebec City Bid, 20 th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships 6 REGISTRATION DETAILS Team registration payment will occur online at www.uwhworlds2018.ca The preliminary team entry fee is currently set at CAD$3800 per team. The exact fee will be finalized late 2017 and depend on sponsorship and grants. The fee includes 14 party tickets per team and is payable by Feb 15th 2018. Paid practice courts fee (in addition to already provided official practice time) is CAD$150 per 1h per court slot. Allocated practice slots are currently planned at 30minutes per team per day due to the number of teams likely to enter. Penalty fee for non-supply of referee is CAD$2000, CAD$1250 or CAD$500. Penalty fee for team Entry payment after Feb 15th 2018 is CAD$500 Extra party tickets are CAD$100 per person The preliminary declaration of participation form (as well as estimated player numbers) is to be submitted online via the website by November 15 th 2017. The official team tournament registration is to be paid by February 15 th 2018, online. CMAS registration: Federations must also register teams directly on the CMAS online administration system ( 130), using their login names and passwords www.cmasoffice.org. Additionally, all athletes must have a valid CMAS licence ( 10 per player). Team lists, photos and anti-doping forms must be submitted online no later than June 1st. Anti Doping Acknowledgment Forms (one original per player) must also be deposited at registration desk on registration day. Country flags and national anthem: each country must bring 2 flags. The national anthem audio file must be uploaded online no later than June 1st. Quebec City Bid, 20 th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships 7 OFFICIALS International chief judge (Tournament Director): Tristan Reynard, NZL Tournament referee: Véronique Séguin, CAN Referee Policy Each federation is required to nominate one L3 competent water referee per team entered in the tournament for the approval and acceptance of the Tournament Director as being suitable. The referee must be resident in the country they represent. The fee for not bringing referees is CAD$2,000 for 1st referee, CAD$1250 for 2nd referee, CAD$500 for 3rd referee. Max 3 referees per federation. The number of referees is limited to 36. The World Championship (Elite& Master) tournament will cover the costs of accommodation and board. Federations are to cover the selected referees expenses for travel to and from the event. Some Federations may have a reduced number of referee places due to the maximum of 36 referees at the event. Referees must stay at the provided accommodation (with the other Referees) for development and pass the in water beep test. Referee Nomination Forms must be sent to the Tournament director before 1 March 2018 (Earlier is better to limit travel costs). The Tournament Director will confirm acceptance of the referee generally within 7 days of the nomination. Two assistant tournament referees will be appointed once participation is confirmed. Grading of referees will be achieved via peer review by 7 senior international referees. Referees should arrive at the tournament-provided accommodations on y 18 th. Assessors to arrive the day before please (see tournament schedule). The following countries are expected to provide a minimum of 2 referees: ARG, AUS, CAN, COL, FRA, GBR, NED, NZL, RSA, TUR, USA

Quebec City Bid, 20 th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships 8 COMMUNICATION Website The website will act as the event primary source of information for participants and the public. The website will be launched y 2017. www.uwhworlds2018.ca Facebook The Facebook page will be used for daily communication during the tournament as well as informal communication until tournament starts. Find us on Facebook @uwhworlds2018 Broadcasting Broadcasting details are currently finalized. The plan is to provide free online streaming, included in the tournament budget. Details will be provided early 2018. Distribution of Information and results A manager s office with mailboxes will be organized within the facility. Managers will be able to access information, games data and team registration in this office. Event participants access to the internet A Wi-Fi high-speed internet access (via a tournament-specific password) will be provided onsite for participants. This access will be limited to the tournament participants, managers, coaches. Access to Facilities Access to the pool and facilities is managed by Université Laval, through an ID badge access. Access to the warmup and competition pools will be controlled by volunteers and restricted to participants competing in the next game, or participants who have just finished competing. Supporters Supporters will be able to purchase tickets and attend games in the stands details will be provided later in the process.

Quebec City Bid, 20 th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships 9 TEAM ACCOMODATIONS We propose several options for accommodations, based on the proximity to the pool and food access. Organisers will direct managers towards the best option for their teams, but the responsibility is on managers to book directly with the proposed accommodations and federations will be responsible for contracts and finalizing details with the proposed accommodations. Federations who wish to book accommodations separately from the organising committee will be able to do so, but in that case, as described in the CMAS procedures document on hosting a World Championship: a) the organising committee does not guarantee transportation to and from accommodation and b) the federation might be charged an administrative fee per participant. Here is our current plan for accommodation packages: ON SITE STUDENT HOUSING: Accommodation at the Summer Housing of Université Laval, which is on campus, a 10 minute walk to the tournament pool (see map below @ Résidences ). We obtained a written guarantee to secure accommodations for 350 participants. Breakfast is included and served between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. Meals or lunch boxes may also be reserved based on team s preference for an additional fee. Free Wi-Fi. Shared kitchen, washroom, playroom and living room at disposal. We are located only a few steps from the PEPS where most of the major sport events are held. Our four residences are also just five kilometers from the Quebec City Convention Center. Standard University Room (shared bathroom) (Available May to August) These rooms have two single beds and feature all the amenities usually available in hotels or bed linen and towels, shampoo and soap, parking included, free wireless internet access and free local calls.

We therefore encourage teams to look on Air BnB to secure accommodations where cooking facilities are included, such as small apartments or houses.

Quebec City Bid, 20 th CMAS World Underwater Hockey Championships 11 LOCATION The PEPS facility is located at: 2300 Rue de la Terrasse, Québec, QC G1V 0A6 The university summer housing is located on campus, 1.1 km (10 minute walk) from the pool Hotel Universel is located 800m from PEPS, a less than 10 minute walk from the PEPS pool.
