Caledonian Showing Championships The Caledonian Showing Championships were a huge success in 2015 & 2016 and will once again give 2017 competitors the opportunity to compete at a top level Championship Final, with Evening Performances, loads of bling and razzmatazz... everything an end of season Championship should have! This year s show will be held at: Highfield @ Howe, near Ladybank, Fife on 30th September / 1st October 2017 This Show is a qualifier and every horse & pony placed 1st or 2nd in any In-hand, Ridden & Working Hunter/Pony classes will qualify to compete in any appropriate class at the Finals. Qualification will be from placing s, no qualification cards will be awarded in the ring, and no qualification can go down the line. All qualified horses and ponies will be listed on the Caledonian Showing Show s website www.caledonianchampionships.webs.com where you will also find a regularly updated list of qualifying shows as well as a wealth of other information. BHS Scotland / Stewarts Building Services Working Hunter Series 2017 The course: At least 8 and not more than 12 fences, with changes of direction, must be set in a ring large enough to permit jumping fluently at a fair hunting pace. Fences should be rustic or as natural as possible, not easily dislodged, of solid appearance, well filled and with shrubs as wings. Maximum height 3ft 6ins (1.05m), maximum spread 3ft 9ins (1.12m), except open ditch and water. The course should be set at, or near, maximum unless the judge considers that the ground makes this unsafe. Normally at least one upright and one spread must be at maximum. Qualification: The first THREE qualify for the final, even if they did not jump clear. If one of the first three has already qualified the qualifying card can be passed down to fourth place provided the 4 th placed rider jumped clear. To compete at the FINAL riders must be a BHS Member and this must be registered prior to the date of the final. Blair Castle Working Hunter Pony Championships Class numbers 79-81 are qualifiers. Ponies placed first to fourth in each class will qualify for the Championships held at Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair in August 2017. Qualification may go down to sixth place if higher placed ponies have previously qualified. CHAPS (UK) This show is affiliated to the Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 30 th August 02 nd September 2017. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The following classes (20-24) are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook; or visit www.chapsuk.com for rulings. All Stallions entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All stallions must wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring. 2

NB CHAPS (UK) Qualification Cards the judge must sign all qualification cards in the ring at the time of the competition. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to obtain from CHAPS (UK) Admin, and to carry, their Qualification and Membership Cards. Chaps Affiliated Show Number: 17055 NPS (The National Pony Society) Affiliation Number: S1.074 NPS Mountain & Moorland Rounds: These classes will be judged under the rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but ONLY ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life Members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer championship Show from 1 st 3 rd August 2017. The highest placed pony, if owned by NPS Qualifying or Life members, in each class will qualify for the Final. Qualifications can pass down to 3 rd place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championship: These classes are judged under the rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of NPS. The Owner s valid membership card must be in the rider s/handler s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner s membership card is not immediately produced, the Rosette will be awarded to the Reserve champion providing they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve pony providing the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than First Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. NPS/Kilmannan Stud M&M In Hand Silver Medal Championship: A silver medal rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS Qualifying or Life Member in the M&M In Hand Section. The Sponsor s Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the Qualification. Qualifiers (in Scotland) are entitled to compete in either the NPS/Kilmannan Stud M&M In-Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship in Malvern, or at the Championship Show in Scotland. Qualifiers may only compete in ONE Kilmannan final. NPS SCOTLAND QUALIFIERS 1. NPS Scotland/ Townhead Pet n Pony In Hand M & M or Breed Championship (From 2 or more classes) 2. NPS Scotland/Kilmannan Stud Novice Ridden M. & M. Pony 3. NPS Scotland/Baileys Horse Feeds Open Ridden M. & M. Pony 4. NPS Scotland/Kingfisher Building Products Open M. & M. WHP 5. NPS Scotland NFU Mutual Open In-hand Riding Pony/Hunter Pony This show is a qualifying round for the above finals which will be held at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 25 th August 2017. The rules for these competitions are as follows: 1. Ponies may only qualify once for each NPS Scotland Competition Final. 2. All Mountain & Moorland Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective stud book. Part bred, X registered ponies, ponies in the appendices of their main stud book and Eriskays are not eligible. 3

3. Qualification in the M. & M In Hand Section may go to 3rd in the Championship. All others may go to no lower than 4th place. 4. A Judge is not obliged to award an NPS Scotland Finals qualification if he/she feels that the pony is not of a sufficient standard 5. Closing Dates for Entries: Competitors qualifying at Shows held before Monday 5th June 2017 must send their qualifying cards and entries in by Thursday 29th June 2017. Shows after 5th June 2017 adhere to a closing date of 5th August 2017 and Late Entries will NOT be accepted. 6. For Novice classes A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following: i. Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class ii. Won a Ridden class at an Olympia, Horse of the Year Show or RIHS qualifying round iii. Qualified for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS Ridden classes iv. Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show or the NPS Scotland/Kilmannan Novice Final at NPS Scotland Championship Finals (Blair) (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year). v. Qualified for the M&M Ridden Championship final at Olympia in previous years vi. If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS in its second year it is immediately de-noviced and cannot compete in the Kilmannan Final at Blair. Ponies must be shown in a snaffle bit. 7. Flash nosebands and drop nosebands are not permitted in flat ridden classes. 8. Entry for the Finals can only be made by sending the official card duly signed by the Judge at the time of qualifying with your entry form. 9. The OWNER must be or become a member of NPS Scotland before entering the Finals. 10. M&M Novice ridden, Open ridden, Lead rein and First ridden classes are for ponies FOUR years old and over, M&M WHP classes are for ponies FIVE years old and over. 11. All ridden ponies must be shown off the lead rein except in the specified Lead Rein Qualifier Class. 12. M&M Lead rein pony s mares or geldings 4 yrs. and over not exceeding 122cms. Dartmoor Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh A and Welsh B. Riders must be 3 yrs. on the day of the show and not to have reached their 9th birthday by the 1st January in the current year. 13. M&M first ridden ponies, mares or geldings 4 yrs. and over not exceeding 128cms. Dartmoor Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh A and Welsh B. Rider Riders not to reached their 12th birthday by the 1st January in the current year. 14. Max. Height for HP is 153cm at maturity and max. height for RP is 148 cm at maturity foal classes excluded. 15. The Final will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 25th August 2017. 4

BRITISH SHOW PONY SOCIETY Affiliation No 2017-0006 509 This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS), Affiliation No 2017-0006, and all persons entering, competing showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS, are subject to the Rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. 515 This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS BLUE RIBAND PONY OF THE YEAR, the 1st. and 2nd. prize-winners in the Lead Rein, First Ridden OR Open Show Pony OR Open Working Hunter Pony OR Open Show Hunter Pony OR Open Intermediate WH. SRT and SH Classes will qualify. 516 This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS CHALLENGE, :-Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Show Pony, SHP, WHP, Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Int SRT, SH, WH and Heritage M&M Lead Rein, First Ridden, Ridden & WHP. Animals must qualify for the Challenge by attending any B.S.P.S. affiliated Show and competing in the appropriate class. Class 5 Concours d Élègance If sufficient entries are forward, the class will be divided (at the judge s discretion) into two or more sections. The judge has the sole authority to transfer any animal from one section to another. Open to singles, pairs, multiples to a traditional type vehicle. The essence of the class is the word elegance and the winner will be the turnout, which, in the opinion of the Judge, presents the most elegant effect. To include vehicle, horse, driver, passenger etc. but above all the general impression. Attention may be paid to driver s/passengers personal costume but fancy dress or period costume is definitely barred. The whole object of the class is to establish which turnout presents the most pleasing picture and normal judging criteria does not apply. It is judged from a distance and vehicles are NOT closely inspected. To be driven at park pace. Class 6 Private Driving Class Horse or pony, 4 years old or over, driven to a traditional or traditional type vehicle. A traditional vehicle means a vehicle of traditional profile and identifiable type to resemble the design of a carriage built prior to the First World War. The vehicle may be made from modern materials but must have traditional style springing and carriage lamps. Pneumatic tyred vehicles, trade turnouts and show wagons are not eligible. The Show Committee reserves to themselves the right of refusing or cancelling entries from any person. 8. The Committee reserves the right to combine any classes in the event of insufficient entries or split the class in the event of oversubscribed entries. 9. THE AYRSHIRE AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION IS NOT LIABLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE, neither will the Association be AYR COUNTY SHOW GENERAL REGULATIONS 24 accountable for any accident that may occur to any person attending the Show whether as a visitor, exhibitor or otherwise. 10. The Judge has the FINAL decision on Entry to the Ring. 11. The Ayrshire Agricultural Association will not be held responsible for exhibitors being late for a class. 12. All animals MUST be sound. If in the opinion of the Judge, an animal is considered to be unsound it will be asked to leave the ring. 13. PROTESTS - any protest must be lodged by a person having an interest. The said objections must be lodged in writing with the Secretary at the Show or within seven days of the Show, and must state specifically the grounds of objection, and must be accompanied by a deposit of 100. 14. WEARING OF RIDING HATS - All riders must wear hats that conform to the current BSI standards. 15. DOGS - should be kept on the lead at all times. 16. STABLES There will be no stabling at Ayr Racecourse for exhibitors this year - a list of private stabling within 25 miles of Ayr can be found on inside back cover of schedule. 17. The Horse Passports (Scotland) Regulations 2005, Amended 2007, replaces the Horse Passport (Scotland) Regulations 2005, and requires all equidae (horses, ponies, donkeys, asses and mules), regardless of age or status, to be accompanied by a passport. Animals born or passports issued, on or after 1 July 2009 must be fitted with a microchip. This would include, without exception, equines used for agricultural purposes, riding ponies, pets, companion animals, hacks, competition animals etc. Foals that are unweaned and accompanying their dam or foster mare may move to a show without a passport. Passports can be held by the horse owner or keeper but should remain with the horse at all times; in particular, passports must accompany the horse when it is moved. 18. The Organisers retain the right to amend the schedule to facilitate the smooth running of the show. 19. Foul language or abusive behaviour towards people or animals will NOT be tolerated, and will result in expulsion from the Show ground. 20. Competitors are required to take home any rubbish as a matter of courtesy. 21. First aid cover will be available for the duration of the show. 22. A Vet will be available for the duration of the show. 23. No Farrier will be available. EXHIBITORS WRISTBANDS Each Exhibitor will be issued with wristbands, for personal use only, entitling entry to the Showground. Wristbands are not transferable.
