CONTEMPORARY: Advancement in contemporary may or may not follow lead of advancement in jazz and/or ballet classes. Contemporary utilizes a combination of both genres fundamental techniques. Advancement in contemporary will be based solely on the dancer s ability to properly execute these fundamental techniques in addition to the maturity of their artistic voice, clarity in movement quality and ability to execute complex movement phrasing and performance quality. HIP HOP: Advancement in hip hop will be based solely on the dancers understanding & execution of various movement qualities, proper use of weight distribution & their ability to learn & execute complex movement phrasing with clarity and ease. ACROBATICS FOR DANCERS (ACRO): The Acro Checklist attached below is not a complete list of skills dancers will train to obtain, but rather a basic list of skills necessary for placement in the appropriate level. Highlighted are skills that each level group will be working on. This list is not exhaustive but rather a starting point. Excluded are: partner work, hand balance, and acro-flex skills. Below is a color coordinated key to help understand what each level will focus on. Lower levels will also be introduced to more advanced skills but they will not be the main focus of their work.
