RULES/REGULATIONS: Entries made in this department shall be subject to and each exhibitor agrees to abide by the General Rules and Regulations as published in this premium list. The current Texas rulebook will be used for all of the large donkey and mule classes. National Miniature Donkey Association rules to govern Miniature Donkey classes according to the current NMDA rulebook. All Miniature Donkeys must be registered prior to the show. 2. ENTRY APPLICATION/FEE: An entry application and fee of $10 per class, plus a $2.00 per Miniature Donkey fee along with all stall fees must be submitted by mail on or before September 1, 2016. All fees must be mailed in with applications and/or signature forms. Late entries will be accepted until September 29 at check in. Late entry fees will be equal to two times the regular class entry fees. 3. NO SMOKING allowed in any barn or judging pavilion. 4. STALLS: Stall fee of $50 per stall, LIMIT ONE LARGE ANIMAL OR TWO MINIATURES PER STALL, must be submitted with the entry application by entry deadline. Special and specific stall requests must be submitted on the Stall Request Form, available at www.bigtex.com, by September 1. There is no guarantee that any stall request can or will be honored. 5. BEDDING: Exhibitors will be provided one bag for first bedding material through the official feed concessionaire on the grounds on the day of arrival only. Only bagged or baled wood shavings or chips for an individual

exhibitors use as first bedding will be permitted on the grounds and the same will be available from the official feed concessionaire. All additional bedding must be purchased from the State Fair of Texas Feed Office. 6. FEED/HAY: Feed grains of all types, along with several kinds of hay, will be available, at reasonable prices, through the State Fair of Texas Feed Office. Exhibitors are not allowed to bring large quantities of feed, bedding or hay onto the grounds. However, exhibitors who must use their own feed will be allowed to bring the feed on grounds in limited amounts on a daily basis. 7. DRESS CODE: Classes 1--6 appropriate English attire. Western attire must be worn in the other large Donkey and Mule classes. Western attire includes long sleeved shirt, hat and boots. The hat must be on the exhibitor s head when entering the arena. Protective headgear is acceptable. Miniature donkey exhibitors will follow NMDA rulebook. 8. SUB YOUTH AND YOUTH CLASSES: Sub Youth exhibitors may only show in Sub Youth classes. Youth exhibitors may show in Youth exhibitor classes, and any Halter Class, including mixed gender class where adults are showing Jacks. Ages: Sub Youth 10 years and younger as of January 1, 2016. Youth 18 years and younger as of January 1, 2016. NMDA youth classes are 17 years and younger. 9. GREEN CLASSES: Green Animal refers to an animal of any age, but there is a limit of two (2) years for an animal to be shown in these classes. 10. BITS: To prevent abusive or illegal bits in the arena, bits will be subject to check by the Judge during each class. The following is a list of illegal bits: bicycle chain bits; prongs inside or outside; snaffle with high port; curb with shanks longer than 8-1/2 ; welding to or changing bit surface from smooth to bumpy or sharp; wire wrapped bit. No blood will be tolerated inside or outside the mouth. 11. DRUGS: All animals are subject to drug testing. No person shall cause to be administered internally or externally to any animal, either before or during an event, any medication, drug, mechanical device or artificial appliance which is of such character as could affect its performance or appearance in that event. 12. WORKING ORDER: Exhibitors will work in their posted order. 13. No personal practice obstacles are allowed on the grounds. 14. TIES High point ties will be broken by the number of first places, then by number of animals placed over, then by number of classes placed in, then by highest placing in the Pleasure Riding class or in the case of the miniatures, the highest placing in Pleasure Driving. 15. HIGH POINT CALCULATION: For classes of six or more animals, first place will receive 6 points, with the remaining places receiving one less point in descending order. For classes of less than six animals, first place will receive points equal to the number in the class, with the remaining places receiving one less point in descending order. In the case of paired entries, both animals receive the same points individually. NMDA Classes will receive a maximum of 5 points for 5 animals or more. 16. AWARDS: Cash premiums will be given to all classes, see premium schedule below. Trophy buckles will be given to all High Point and Reserve High Point Champions. Special Awards will be given to all Champions and Reserve Champions in the Halter divisions. 17. Miniature Mules are encouraged to enter the appropriate mule halter, showmanship and driving classes. 18. NO DONKEYS OR MULES will be released before 8:00 am on Sunday. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
