Before starting the Player Roster check with the coaches about which players, if any, will be scratched from the lineup. Copy the 3 letter team abbreviations or full name from the top of the score sheet to here Note: there is room for the Coach to record their Coaching Certification Identification Number, but not necessary to record. Set 3 - Deciding Set In club youth we only play best of 3 sets. Best of 5 is for University yplay. When marking, use Set 5 on the score sheet for the 3rd set (if playing a deciding win). 29
Set 3 - Deciding Set Deciding Set works the same as Sets 1 & 2. To make things easier begin by looking at the left-most and middle boxes. There are, however, some differences. You will have to: Fill in A or B depending on what the captains choose at the deciding set coin toss. Fill in the 3 letter team abbreviation. Mark the team that is serving and receiving. Mark the start time of the set. 30
Set 3 - Deciding Set For the first 8 points of the set only look at the left part of the sheet exactly as you had in previous sets. Remarks The remarks box is used to record information such as: Changes of uniform due to blood Protests Any irregularities during the match (external interference, equipment malfunctions, etc.) After the match the referee will initial this box if any information is added. 50
Notes: We did not go over the Sanction section. Don t worry about this. It is rare that a coach, assistant coach or athlete will receive a yellow or red card. If they do, the ref will come over and help you fill out that section. Smile and just do your best at that moment. We all make mistakes and that is OK! If you are unsure at any time or need clarification, don t hesitate to motion for the ref to stop the set and come see you. 51
