TAHQUITZ CREEK WOMEN S GOLF CLUB Our Club is dedicated to promoting an enjoyable atmosphere of weekly golf for our members, as well as holding weekly tournaments and special tournaments such as the President s Cup and Club Championship. We focus on mixing our foursomes each week so that each member has an opportunity to meet as many members as possible throughout the golfing season. Click on Create Profile You ll be asked to type in your GHIN #, Name, Address, Email Address, Phone # etc. User Name: Make up whatever name you d like, but write it down because this name will be how you log onto the website in the future. Password: Again make up whatever password you want, but write it down so you can use it again. What Does It Mean? ACES WILD: Subtract full handicap from gross score, then subtract 1 point for each 1 putt and 2 points for zero putts (chip-in). Circle holes with 1 points and chip-ins. BAKER S DOZEN: 13 best holes, less ½ BEAT THE CLUB CHAMPION: Individual net score against the Champion s net score. BEST 9 OF 18 HOLES: Total of best 9 holes, less ½ BETTER NINE: Use lower score of either front or back nine, less ½ BLIND DRAW: 9 holes are drawn, placed in an envelope and opened by 1 st group in. CHAPMAN: 2 person teams. Each player drives. For the second shot, each player hits each other s ball. After both players have hit a 2 nd shot, they select one ball to take turns until ball is holed out. Net score by using ½ the team s combined handicaps. CRIES: Revert 3 worst holes back to par, less full CRISS-CROSS: Choose best 9 holes using holes 1 or 10, 2 or 11, etc., less ½ CROSS COUNTRY: Choose best 9 holes using holes 1 or 18, 2 or 17, etc., less ½ EENIE-MEENIE: Pick three best par 3 s, three best par 4 s and three best par 5 s, less ½ EVEN HOLES: Total score on even holes only, less ½ FEWEST PUTTS: Least number of putts wins no FIELD SHOTS: Keep putts. Score minus full handicap, minus putts. FIVE & FOUR: Total score of first 5 holes and last 4 holes, less ½ FRIENDLY FOURS: Total score on all par 4 s, less ½ FRONT NINE: Total of front nine holes, less ½ HARDEST HOLES: Count score on the hardest stroke holes (1-9), less ½ HATE EM: Before the round starts, select and circle three holes that you HATE. You will take a par (or birdie if that happens!) on those holes when calculating your game score. When keeping score, mark down your actual score on those three holes for posting purposes. For the game, total your score, reverting those three holes to par or better, subtract full IF: Deduct worst hole from net score. LOW GROSS: Total of 18 holes no LOW NET: Total of 18 holes, less full LOW NET plus PUTTS: Record your score AND putts for each hole. Subtract your full handicap from total, then ADD your putts to your net score. LUCK OF THE IRISH: Pro shop picks 9 holes after we tee off. After play, add those 9 holes minus ½ MATCH VS. PAR: Stroke play. Strokes as they fall. You are either up, down or even par.

MIDDLE NINE: Total of holes 6-14, less ½ MOST ONE PUTTS AND PARS OR BETTER: Count one putts worth 1 point each, 1 point for pars or better. Strokes as they fall on card. Most points win. MUTT AND JEFF: Total score on par 3 s and par 5 s only, less ½ N.E.T: Count only holes beginning with N, E, T, less half NINE IN A LINE: After the end of the round, total your score for the best nine consecutive holes. This would be 3-11 or 6-14, etc. Circle or highlight the holes you have selected, subtract ½ N.O.S.E: Total of holes starting with N, O, S, E, less ½ O.N.E.F: Total of holes starting with O, N, E, F, less ½ ODD HOLES: Total sore of odd numbered holes, less ½ ODD & EVEN: Before teeing off, partners decide who has even or odd holes. One partner takes evens holes, the other takes odd holes, add both handicaps, divide by 2, subtract that from gross score of holes being used. PICK EITHER 9: Pick front or back 9 holes after play, less ½ SELECTIVE NINE: Before teeing off, select 3 par 3 s, 3 par 4 s and 3 par 5 s, less ½ T & F: Total of holes starting with the letter T and F, less ½ TAX EXEMPT: Deduct 9 worst holes, less ½ TEE TO GREEN: Keep track of putts, subtract from net score. THREE BLIND MICE: Throw out 3 worst holes, less full 3-2-1-4SOME: Strokes as they fall on card. Use 3 best net scores on each par 3, 2 best net scores on each par 4, and 1 best net score on each par 5 of the foursome. THREE-THREE-THREE: Three best par 3 s, 3 best par 4 s and 3 best par 5 s, less ½ TICKS AND PUTTS: Tick is a fairway you hit with your drive = 5 points. Putts for that hole are subtracted from your tick. Most points win. No handicap involved. T. O. E: Total of holes starting with the letters T O E, less ½ TOM, DICK AND HARRY: Total of all par 5 s, 2 best par 4 s (one on each side) and 2 best par 3 s (one on each side), less ½ TRICK OR TREAT: Circle 9 holes before tee off. Total of those holes, less ½ TURKEY SHOOT: Keep track of putts. Score minus full handicap, add 1 stroke for every 3 or more putts. SWEET AND SOUR: Add your best 4 holes from the front 9, and your best 4 holes from the back 9. Now add your worst hole from all 18, less ½

Standing Rules 2016-2017 Standing Rules are rules governing the general weekly operations of a club. These rules are adopted formally and put in writing so that a set policy is guaranteed and continuity is provided for the members. These Standing Rules differ from the By-Laws in that they may be changed or repealed by majority vote at any club meeting. Notice of said change or repeal is not necessary. 1. The Club Championship: shall be a two-day tournament. The format shall be stroke play. This tournament shall be divided into flights according to the number of entries and handicaps. 2. The President s Cup: shall be a three-day tournament. The format shall be match play. This tournament shall be divided into flights according to the number of entries and handicaps. This tournament is played in flights of eight (8) players. 3. The Net Championship: shall be a two-day tournament. The format shall be stroke play. This tournament shall be divided into flights according to the number of entries and handicaps. A player must have an established handicap (20 games or more). 4. The Eclectic: to improve scores on each hole, shall be played on the Legend Course, (excluding the President s Cup.) This event shall be recorded in flights. Awards are to be net and gross equally. The Tournament starts the first time we play the Legend after the over seed, and continues until the mid/end of April. 5. The Hole in One fund ($150.00) shall be paid from the club funds when a hole in one is made by a club member on play day. 6. A tournament player may not receive more than one prize in any event. 7. In the event of a death of a club member s immediate family, a condolence card shall be sent. In the event of the death of a member or her significant other, a donation, not to exceed $25.00 shall be sent to an appropriate memorial fund. 8. During the playing season of the club, October through May, Bermuda and Jamaica length shorts are acceptable. Short shorts, tennis dresses, bathing suits and bra tops may not be worn on the golf course. 9. Honorary Members: The Executive Board may recommend a member become an honorary member. The Board must have approval of the members.. The honorary member would attend meetings and social events if she wished and be listed in our club directory. (This policy was developed to provide a way to acknowledge long standing members who can no longer play golf.) 10. Guests: A club member may bring the same guest a total of four (4) times in a season. A person may play as a guest or as a guest of a club member a total of four (4) times in a season."

11. A member may also designate to play with a particular member player only on meeting days. The weekly tournament chairperson tries to mix the membership on play days 12. Distance Measuring Devices: For weekly competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. Local Rules RESORT and LEGEND OUT of BOUNDS: Out of bounds is determined by white stakes, perimeter fences and inside edge of curbs. STAKED TREES: If a tree stake or wires interfere with stance or swing, drop one club length from the nearest point of relief, no nearer to the hole. No penalty. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS: Paved cart paths, restroom, flower beds, sprinklers and control boxes are all man-made immovable obstructions (i.e. anything artificial). Drop one club length from nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. No penalty. FLOWER BEDS: A ball hit into a flower bed must be dropped to the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. No penalty. (If the ball cannot be found, and the group agrees it is lost in the flower bed, it is not considered a lost ball and a free drop is allowed). DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES: For weekly competition as well as tournaments, a player may obtain distance information using a device that measures distance only. SAND TRAPS: Players may remove rocks in sand traps that are considered a danger to the player or other players under the rules of golf. Large pieces of bark and palm fronds in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 24-1 applies). (added 1/5/2016) ANIMAL DUNG: If it is virtually certain that bird or animal dung is adherent to the ball, a ball may be lifted, cleaned and replaced without penalty. Note: the position of the ball must be marked before it is lifted under this local rule. FENCES AROUND WATER HAZARDS: If your ball lands against the fences around the water, you may take an unplayable penalty and drop within 2 club lengths. Accidental Movement of a Ball on a Putting Green: (1-3-17) Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1 are modified as follows: When a player s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment. The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1. This Local Rule applies only when the player s ball or ballmarker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental. Note: If it is determined that a player s ball on the putting green was moved as a result of wind, water or some other natural cause such as the effects of gravity, the ball must be played as it lies from its new location. A ball-marker moved in such circumstances is replaced.

LEGEND; 1) The area left of the cart path on hole #9 is OB. Stroke and distance penalties apply. (Rule deleted 1/5/2016) 2) The area in the wash on holes # 1, 9, 10, 14, 17 and 18 are to be considered ground under repair if the fairway is washed out. You may play the ball as it lies or take the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole. NO PENALTY 3) If your swing is obstructed by the 150 yard palm tree markers, you may take one club length relief, no closer to the hole. NO PENALTY RESORT; 1) If your swing is obstructed by the 150 yard boulder markers, you may take one club length relief, no closer to the hole. NO PENALTY USGA Rules shall govern all play, except where modified by local rules. Weekly Rules Beginning with the 2015/2016 season, sign-up for play will be on the GHIN website exclusively. Each Week s designated format will be specified on the GHIN website. Each member s current handicap index number will be used to establish her weekly tournament Check in at the Pro Shop at least 20 minutes prior to the designated tee time. If you cannot play in the Tuesday play day after signing up, please call: Jan Keck 702.419.5777 Scorekeeping New Members should start posting immediately when they have their member number. When playing an away game, post your score on that course s computer. Weekly regular tournament scores are to be posted as nontournament scores. During any round, a player may pick up the ball and X-out the hole. If the X-ed out hole is not part of the game of the day, that player will not be disqualified. If you X-out of a hole that DQ s you from game of the day write a big DQ on your card so you are not mistakenly considered. Each member is to post her score each time she plays 13 holes or more. Players must take net par on holes not played, plus whatever handicap strokes she is entitled to on each hole. Please post your score on the day that you play. Slow Play Our goal is 4 to 4 ½ hours of playing time for and 18 hole round. Stay up with the group in front of you. Ready golf on all the tee boxes.

Be ready to hit on to the green as proceeding group leaves the green. If you re in a cart, park between balls and each player go to her ball. Take several clubs with you to eliminate walking back to the cart. Eligibility For Tournaments A member may play weekly tournaments with a provisional handicap, a minimum of five (5) scores. She may not play in major tournaments, defined as President s Cup, Net Championship and Club Championship without an established handicap, i.e. a minimum of twenty (20) scores, and participated in at least five (5) Club play days, * during the twelve (12) months preceding the start of the tournament. * Play day means just play, (no tournaments, no team, no Desert League). TAHQUITZ CREEK PALM SPRINGS WOMEN'S GOLF CLUB BY LAWS ARTICLE l Name The name of this organization shall be The Tahquitz Creek Palm Springs Women s Golf Club, a nonprofit organization. ARTICLE ll Objectives The objectives and purposes of this Club are to promote, foster, regulate, develop and conduct activities among the members of the Club as follows: First: To hold weekly tournaments, a President Cup tournament, an annual Club Championship tournament, an Eclectic and other special tournaments. Second: To promote and hold such social and recreational activities as the general membership may desire. Third: To organize the women golfers into a unit. Fourth: To establish and maintain proper handicaps and to cooperate and comply with the Rules and Regulations of the United States Golf Association.

ARTICLE lll Membership and Dues Section 1 Women eighteen years of age and over are eligible for membership. Section 2 Acceptance of membership obligates a person to abide by and support the By Laws and Standing Rules of the Club. Refusal or neglecting a strict and honorable compliance with the Rules and Regulations of the Club may render a member liable to suspension or expulsion by a majority vote of the Executive Board. Section 3 Applicants for membership must have knowledge of the rules and Etiquette of golf and the ability to keep up with normal speed of play. Before acceptance into membership, she must play at least one round of golf with a member of the Eligibility Committee in order to demonstrate such knowledge and ability. She need not have a handicap, but must establish one after acceptance into membership. Section 4 A member may play weekly tournaments with a provisional handicap, a minimum of five (5) scores. She may not play in major tournaments, defined as President s Cup, Net Championship and Club Championship without an established handicap, i.e. a minimum of twenty (20) scores, and participated in at least five (5) Club play days, * during the twelve (12) months preceding the start of the tournament. * Play day means just play, (no tournaments, no team, no Desert League). Section 5 A. Annual Dues shall be due and payable on or before April 1st each year. This amount includes Club dues, Handicapping Processing fee, entry fees for President's Cup, Eclectic and Club Championship. This does not include Guest Days and Invitational Tournaments. Payment of the Handicapping fee is mandatory regardless of membership in any other club. Any member wishing to renew her membership after June1st will incur a $10.00 reinstatement fee. B. The Club year shall run from July 1st through June 30 th of the following year. There shall be no prorating of dues for any portion of the year. A member must be in good standing to hold an office in the Club or to participate in any Club activity, including major and weekly tournaments. C. Refunds less the WSCGA fee will be granted through October 1 st, with no refunds after that date. ARTICLE IV Government and Management Section 1 A. Officers of this Club shall be President; 1st Vice President / Major Tournament Chairperson; 2nd Vice President / Weekly Tournament Chairperson; Secretary and Treasurer. B. The Executive Board shall consist of the elected officers and the immediate Past President, who shall act in an advisory capacity, but have no vote.

C. The Board of Directors shall consist of the above, and the chairpersons of the following standing committees: Awards Desert League Eligibility Handicap Membership Newsletter Publicity WSCGA Rules Sunshine D. By a majority vote the immediate Past President shall serve as a Board Advisor and shall attend Board Meetings, but shall have no vote. In the event she is unable to serve, any former President of the Club may be so appointed of the Board of Directors. Section 2 The Board of Directors is empowered to act in emergencies. Section 3 The annual audit, by a qualified person or persons, of the Club Books shall be completed upon authorization of the Board of Directors before the beginning of the next immediate fiscal year. Section 4 The Club fiscal year shall be from July 1st of one year through June 30th of the following year. The Club officers shall be installed at the May meeting and start their term of office immediately. Section 5 In case of a vacancy in any office, a special election shall be held at the next General Meeting, or a special election meeting to be called by the President, and a new officer shall be elected to fill the vacancy for the balance of the term. At least seven (7) days written notice of this meeting shall be given to all members. Section 6 Two thirds of the Board members, including at least two elected officers, must be present at a Board Meeting to constitute a quorum. Board Meetings shall be held at such places and times as determined by the President. There shall be a minimum of three (3) Board meetings a year. ARTICLE V Officers and Duties Section 1 PRESIDENT shall be the chief executive and administrative officer of the Club, shall preside at all membership meetings of the Club, Executive Board Meetings and Board of Directors Meetings. She shall appoint all Committee Chairpersons and serve as an ex-officio member of all committees. Section 2 FIRST VICE PRESIDENT shall act as Major Tournament Chairperson; shall act as Assistant to the President; and in the absence of the President shall preside at all meetings. She shall conduct all major tournaments, make all pairings for these tournaments and post results of tournaments. Section 3 SECOND VICE PRESIDENT shall act as Weekly Tournament Chairperson; shall act as Assistant to the President; and in the absence of the President and First Vice President, she shall preside at all meetings. She shall arrange all weekly tournaments, record and post results.

Section 4 SECRETARY shall keep full and complete Minutes of all meetings of the Club and Board of Directors and shall take charge of and conduct all correspondence of the Club, with the approval of the President. She shall maintain a permanent Minute Book, to include an up-to-date copy of the By Laws and Standing Rules. Section 5 TREASURER shall receive all monies belonging to the Club; shall deposit monies in a bank checking or savings account in the name of the Club. Checks may be signed by any two of the following officers; President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer. This shall apply to bank withdrawals. She shall keep a cash and disbursement ledger and reconcile all bank statements. There shall be a minimum balance of $100.00 remaining in the checking account of the Club at the end of the fiscal year. ARTICLE VI Committees Section 1 HANDICAP CHAIRPERSON shall keep a record of members' handicaps and shall do necessary work in connection with the Handicapping System. She shall keep an up-to-date list of members and their handicaps posted on the official Bulletin Board at the Club at all times. It shall also be her duty monthly to inform the Tournament Chairperson of the Desert League Host Club of handicaps of Desert League members in the Club. Section 2 MEMBERSHIP CHAIRPERSON shall promote Club membership, shall keep accurate membership records, and collect membership dues. After recording dues received in the official Membership Roster, she shall turn over all monies to the Treasurer for deposit. She shall give the names of all applicants to the Eligibility Chairperson. She shall, at all times, keep the President and Handicap Chairperson advised of the names, addresses and phone numbers of all members. Section 3 RULES CHAIRPERSON shall have a committee of at least two other Club members It shall be their duty to familiarize themselves thoroughly with the "Rules of Golf s adopted by the United States Golf Association; to interpret local rules for the Club in cooperation with the Course Pro or Manager; and, when necessary, to enforce all such Rules of Golf. All disputes, complaints and interpretations of the Rules shall be decided by the Rules Committee. They shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Tournament Chairperson in setting up all major and weekly tournaments. Section 4 PUBLICITY CHAIRPERSON shall provide news items and generally publicize the social and competitive activities of the Club. She shall serve as Club Historian and keep an official Scrap Book. Section 5 DESERT LEAGUE CHAIRPERSON shall represent the Club at all Desert League Meetings. She shall advise all League members in the Club of League tournaments and special events. She shall collect

League dues from Club members and turn monies over to the Desert League Treasurer. She shall be given assistance by the Club Tournament Chairperson when the Club is host to the Desert League. Section 6 AWARDS CHAIRPERSON shall procure all prizes for major tournaments and special events, with the approval of the Tournament Chairperson and the President. Section 7 SUNSHINE CHAIRPERSON shall report illnesses of members, send cards and visit hospitalized members. The amount to be allowed for gifts for ill members or donations to memorial funds in the case of the death of a member or her significant other shall be set by the membership and placed in the Standing Rules. Section 8 ELIGIBILITY CHAIRPERSON: It shall be the duty of the Eligibility Chairperson and her committee of at least two other members to pass on applications for membership in the Club. Article III Sec 3. Section 9 SPECIAL COMMITTEES may be created from time to time, appointed by the President, for such purposes as may arise; and they shall be discharged by the President at expiration of the performance and responsibility for which they were created. Section 10 Each Chairperson of a Standing Committee shall have the privilege of choosing one or more Club members to assist her in her performance of her duties herein described. Section 11 NEWSLETTER EDITOR is responsible for publishing the monthly newsletter of the Club. Section 12 WSCGA CHAIRPERSON will serve as the Delegate Liaison between Tahquitz Creek Palm Springs Women's Golf Club and the WSCGA organization. She will post all WSCGA notices on the Bulletin Board. ARTICLE VII Meetings and Elections Section 1 Unless otherwise ordered by the President, regular General Meetings shall be held on the first Tuesday of each month, at such place and time designated in a written notice to members at least seven (7) days prior to the meeting. Section 2 Special meetings may be called by the President at any time by giving seven (7) days written notice to all Club members. Section 3 Election of Officers shall take place at the April General Meeting each year. Written notice of the meeting shall be given to the general membership at least seven (7) days prior to the meeting. Section 4 At the March General Meeting the President shall appoint a Nominating Committee for the purpose of selecting a slate of officers for the ensuing fiscal year.

The Nominating Committee shall consist of a Chairperson and two others, all of whom must have been members of the Club for two years. The Nominating Committee shall present its recommendations to the membership at the April meeting. The recommendations of the Nominating Committee shall be posted on the Bulletin Board at least seven (7) days prior to the election. Section 5 At the April meeting, the President shall call for nominations from the floor after the reading of the Nominating Committee. If there are no nominations from the floor the recommendations of the Nominating Committee may be accepted by a majority vote of the members present. If there is more than one nominee for any office, election for such office shall be by secret ballot of the members present. ARTICLE VIII Quorum Section 1 In order to transact official business of the Club, a quorum, consisting of at least ten (10%) of the membership and including at least two (2) of the elected officers of the Club, must be present at a General Meeting. ARTICLE IX Amendments Section 1 The By Laws may be repealed or amended at any General Meeting of the membership, or at a special meeting called for that purpose by the President, by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present. The repeal or amendment shall first be recommended by the Board of Directors. Notice of the Meetings shall be given Club members at least seven (7) days prior to the meeting. ARTICLE X Rules of Order Robert s Rules of Order shall be the parliamentary order of this Club, subject to the special rules which have been, or will be, adopted by the Club.
