About Us Friends: Welcome to Swank Farm Red Angus & Chappell Red Angus first Annual Spring Bull & Female Sale. Swank Farms has been in the Red Angus business since 1974, selling bulls and females private treaty and breed sales across the eastern USA. Swank Farm is owned by Russ & Ellen Swank and managed by Jim Jones. They currently have 80 momma cows with both a spring and fall herd. Swanks also pasture and farm about 650 acres; definitely a full time job for Jim and farm hand, Don. Chappell Red Angus was established in 1989, selling bulls and females both private treaty and at breed sales in VA, IL, AL, GA, & IA. It is owned and operated by Dan & Erica Chappell. We use an extensive AI program, along with some embryo implants, and cleaned up with herd bulls that are jointly owned with Swank Farm. Both Swank & Chappell have the same breeding principles: to provide total performance genetics & breed leading EPDs. We will not sacrifice good feet, legs and overall structural soundness for a good EPD profile. Our cows need both or the go to McDonalds! Our animals need to work in all environments; they have plenty of guts and capacity, lots of milk, and last but not least, great dispositions. Our bulls are grown out, not fed out. They were fed for 3# ADG. The bulls are not rolling in fat; they are in good breeding condition. We are not in the show business; we are in the seed stock cattle business. HOW THE SALE WORKS This is not a typical auction, it will be a Gentlemen s Auction. There will be no hired auctioneer or ring men. We will introduce the sale lot, offer additional information or answer any questions you may have. We then proceed in auction format with $100 increments from the base price. High bidder will receive the sale lot and we will go on to the next animal. Come early to view the lots and inspect their dams next years offerings. If you can t be with us on Saturday, March 14, 2015, we invite you to place a written bid or a telephone bid on any of the animals prior to the sale date. You may put a maximum bid and if there are no bidders close to your bid, you will get title to the animal at the next $100 increment over the last bid. Phone lines will be available during the sale for those who prefer to bid live. This needs to be arranged prior to the sale date. You will receive a call two lots prior to the animal you are interested in bidding on. Phone bids are kept in strict confidence. We guarantee all sight-unseen purchases. Early bidding is advantageous to ensure that you get the animal that fits your program and is within your budget. Animals are available for viewing at any time on the respective farms prior to the sale date, also starting at noon Friday, March 13, 2015 and sale day in Mill Hall, PA. Sale will start at 1PM with lunch being served at noon (EST). TERMS & CONDITIONS 1. Terms of the sale are cash settlement & must be made immediately after completion of the sale. 2. The seller will settle any dispute on bids and his decision is final. 3. Any announcements from the seller on sale day will take precedence over printed material. 4. Health certificates will be furnished for shipment anywhere in the U.S. 5. A certificate of registry and transfer will be furnished for each animal sold, after settlement has been made. 6. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as it is sold. 7. Animals will be delivered free for up to one hour of travel time, balance at cost for anything over one hour. We do encourage buyers to take their animals sale day. 8. Any animals that remain at our facility for more than one day will require life insurance to be purchased. This can be purchased sale day. A $5.25 per day feeding rate will be charged for any animals that remain in our care. Animals must be removed from our facility no later than June 1, 2015. Additional arrangements can be made. 9. Everyone attending the sale does so at their own risk. Owners, clerks, or other helpers do not assume responsibility, legal or otherwise, for damages of any kind. 10.
