3. Application Instructions for use Plug connection for medical gas & vacuum The HEYER Aerotech plug connections for medical gas and vacuum are suitable for gas supply units in rooms used for medical purposes and comply with DIN EN ISO 7396-1. The plug connection is available in different designs and mounting variants which allow for its installation in massive walls, light-weight constructions, ceiling supply units, bed supply rails, intensive care supply units etc. As a principle, the Heyer Aerotech plug connections can be installed into any type of ceiling supply units and gas boxes of different manufacturers and in different variants. Description of functions: The HEYER Aerotech plug connection has been designed in such a way that the user is able to establish a safe connection between nipple and outlet. In addition, the design of the plug connection makes it impossible to mix up the different types of gases. 4. Operation 4.1 Engaging When plugging in the device to be connected or when plugging the connector into the outlet it is not necessary to manually operate the outlet. The connector or the device is simply connected by softly plugging it into the wall outlet. The nipple is then kept in the outlet by means of the locking rolls. At the same time the nipple opens the self-closing valve and thus allows the gas or vacuum to flow. 4.2 Disengaging or unlocking / park position By pressing the push button, the nipple will be released from the locking rolls. The self-closing valve is closed in this state, i.e. the gas or vacuum flow is interrupted. By a pull of the connector or of the device the nipple can now be removed. The plug connection has been equipped with a park position which allows the nipple to stay locked in the outlet without releasing gas. Seite 5 von 24
4.3 Connector The connector is made up of a medium-specific coded nipple and the colour-coded handle with the designation of the gas type. The hose is used to engage mobile medical apparatuses to outlets. 4.4 Nipple A nipple is that part of a medical apparatus or of a connector which is engaged into the outlet. 4.5 Pedestal assembly and mounting set The pedestal assembly is that part of the outlet which is connected to the gas supply network. The internal gas type safeguard (gas type safeguard disc) is firmly connected with the pedestal assembly. The mounting set includes all the holders and fastening elements which are required for connecting the valve assembly. When mounting the valve assembly, the inspection valve is integrated into the pedestal assembly and is thus connected with the pedestal assembly. Seite 6 von 24

7. Putting into Operation Before putting the outlet (or medical supply units with outlets installed in them) into operation, it is absolutely indispensable to carry out a gas type test. This gas type test has to be carried out by the assembling firm and the user. The results have to be recorded and to be signed by both of them. This record is a document! At the same time, i.e. with the gas type test, the locking and unlocking functions of the nipple in the outlet have to be checked. The gas type test has to be carried out with utmost care and attention! Mixing up the gas types (e.g. O 2 with N 2 O) may lead to fatal accidents! 8. Cleaning and Care Both outlet and connector have to be cleaned with non-alcoholic and solvent-free detergents usual in trade. Please make sure that no liquids enter into the individual construction elements. Seite 18 von 24
9. Maintenance In order to prolong the service life of the HEYER Aerotech outlets we recommend carrying out the following maintenance works in regular intervals. Check tightness and functionality of the equipment in 6-month intervals. If necessary, replace faulty parts. Only use genuine parts. For maintenance works, we recommend concluding a contract with Heyer Aerotech directly or with a customer service authorized by HEYER Aerotech. In this context, please also observe the stipulations laid down in DIN EN ISO 7396-1. Note: Maintenance works on the HEYER Aerotech outlets can be carried out at any time by dismantling the complete valve assembly. This is also possible with operational pressure, i.e. it is not necessary to interrupt the medical gas supply. Other advantages of the HEYER Aerotech outlet: The valve assembly has been designed as one unit, i.e. it can also be dismantled as a complete unit! We exclusively use long-lasting and resistant materials for our production. The valve case is completely made of metal. Seite 19 von 24
