The Friendly Face of Football Key Information The Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup Tournament was launched in 1992 with just 8 competing teams. To date, the tournament has grown into a six-day festival of football that caters for entries at Under 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19. Moreover, the tournament has included senior Ladies and Girls competitions for Under 11 and 13 age categories. In 2017, the tournament opened its arms to 346 entries across all age groups. Teams featuring Celtic F.C; Norwich City F.C; Sheffield United; TuS Altenberge 09 (Germany); FD Suomi; AS Dammartin; Everton America; Tampa Bay Rowdies; First Choice Soccer Tours; GPS FC Bayern; Hamilton Academy, Hearts F.C; Partick Thistle and Dallas F.C (USA) participated in the competition in 2017. Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup runs from Monday 16 th July Saturday 21 st July 2018. The entry fee to the tournament is 150 per team. Payment must be paid upon receipt of confirmation of acceptance to the tournament. Tournament Format Teams are placed in geographically seeded groups and play a series of matches against other sides in the group. By the end of the group stage, teams are separated into Cup competitions in line with their group standings. This means the best clubs compete for the Foyle Cup, and other teams are placed in subsidiary competitions. By doing this, each team gets the same number of games and play one match every day for the entire week. Depending on entry numbers it may be necessary for some age groups to play a second game on one of the days. Matches are spaced out across the day, allowing spectators to watch up to 3 games every day. The matches are played at over 30 superb venues in Derry City and throughout counties Derry, Tyrone & Donegal. The finals are normally played at Airtricity side Derry City s Brandywell Stadium and/or Institute s Riverside Stadium.

2 Getting Here Derry City is served by hourly buses from Belfast City Centre, Belfast City Airport and Belfast International Airport. Alternatively, you can fly to City of Derry Airport or Dublin Airport the latter having a bus service every 2 hours to Derry City. There are also excellent Ferry links from Great Britain via P&O Ferries and Stena Line. If flying from North America, you would ideally want to arrive in Dublin or Belfast. There are a range of airlines doing these routes direct including Aer Lingus, Continental, Delta, Zoom, US Airways & American Airways. From Europe, check out EasyJet or Jet2 to Belfast or Aer Lingus or Ryanair to Dublin. It is possible to arrive in Shannon but the bus journey to Derry is considerably longer. Derry is 90 minutes by road from Belfast and 3 hours from Dublin. For teams from Europe and North America we will arrange transport from your airport of arrival to and from Derry as well as to all your games. Accommodation Leave your accommodation worries in our hands. We have already negotiated great rates and pre-booked rooms with all the local hotels and with Ulster University. Therefore, we can provide entry teams with a range of accommodation standards. We allocate accommodation to teams in February or March once the line-up has been confirmed. Hotels (3* / 4*): per person, sharing per night from 35.00, breakfast included. Lunch 6, Evening Meal 11. University: per person, per night in a single ensuite room - 24 - meals provided at local Brunswick Moviebowl. Rules & Regulations a) Age Determination Age Categories represent the specific competition aligned to a particular age group. Teams must have adequate Insurance cover in respect of participation at this Tournament. Teams entering the Foyle Cup accept that the organisers accept no responsibility for personal injury or loss as a result of participation in the Foyle Cup tournament. Taking the field in their opening game is seen to represent acceptance of this rule. All matches will be officiated by qualified and registered referees who are registered with a National Referee s Association as of July 16 2018. All appointments will be made by a Referees Committee appointed by the Organising Committee and they will have sole discretion with respect to appointments for all games. Teams are required to be at a venue 30 minutes prior to kick off. Unlimited substitutions (rolling substitutes) allowed at Under 9, 10 & 11 and Girls Mini Soccer. Referee must be informed before any substitution made. 5 from a maximum 7 substitutes may be used in Under 12 and older age groups. A completed team list must be handed to referee prior to every game. Teams must have 2 sets of shirts available at every game. If agreement cannot be made between relevant managers with respect to colour clashes, then the right to play in first choice of kit shall be decided by toss of coin by a match official.

Tournament Headquarters The Tournament Headquarters is located at popular Derry leisure centre Foyle Arena.
