DOUBLEDAY FIELD How special is Doubleday Field? Doubleday Field is the home field of our sport. Consider that more than 70 of the 215 major leaguers in the Hall of Fame have played on Double Day Field. Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi Berra, to name just a handful of the greats who have played on Doubleday Field. As baseball writer M. Kristian Connolly describes it in an editorial for MLB.com, playing on Doubleday will likely be your only chance to to dig the same hole in the batter's box as Stan Musial or Jimmie Foxx, field the same position as Jackie Robinson or Roberto Clemente, or stare down a batter from the same mound as Lefty Grove or Robin Roberts. For baseball players, it s an opportunity to develop a link to the great players who have preceded them. For those who love baseball and appreciate the grand history of America's game, there is no other park in existence that can compare to historic Doubleday Field.
