CB Council Members CB Hon. Secretaries RFU Executive Team Rugby Development Staff RFRU 19 th May 2014 Ladies and Gentlemen, Grand Draw 2013/4 l am delighted to attach details of the overall performance of this year s Grand Draw. The Draw started very brightly with more pre-registrations than 2011 and 2012. However the flooding across large parts of the country in late 2013, continuing into 2014, had a severe effect on many club and school activities. This caused a slight drop in the eventual number of participating clubs. However those who did manage to stay the course, including many in flooded areas, performed magnificently, raising over 415,000, just a fraction less than last time. The total amount raised since the Draw began 11 years ago is now approaching 4 million We continue to send a Starter Kit to all clubs using the Honorary Secretary as the main contact. Some challenges with contact information continue, but using the previous Draw contact in2013/14 did improve pre-registrations. Our major problem continues to be school contacts which tend to chance year on year. This year 619 clubs, schools, CBs and Referee Societies took part. We will continue to work with relevant departments at Twickenham to drive home the point that the Draw is risk free to clubs and costs them nothing to take part, with everyone receiving 90% of all the monies they raise as a tax free donation. Promotion and pre-registration for next year s draw will commence in mid-august via Touchline, bulk email and the RFU website. A review of how we promote the Draw prior to its launch is being undertaken with colleagues at Twickenham. The Draw will run along a similar timeframe to this season and Starter Kits will be sent in mid-autumn with the Draw itself taking place in March/April 2015. Work will be undertaken to examine how to make the Draw event itself more appealing and available to a wider rugby audience in RWC year. Attached is the CB totals; the list of all participating clubs showing amounts raised in descending order can be found on www.rfu.com/granddraw shortly. If you would like your detailed individual CB results please contact Andrew Manly via the email address or mobile number below and he will be happy to provide it. Kind Regards Simon Winman Promoter/RFU Head of Club Development Andrew Manly: grand.draw@therfu.com or 07836 362215
