CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Orlando Chapter - American Singles Golf Association August 2017 From the President Not only has our weather been sizzling hot, but our golf, social and membership chairs (Bob, Virginia and Pam) have been providing some sizzling hot weekend golf, nine and dines, and social fun at Dewey s Indoor Golf and Grill. If you have an idea for a social gathering or a golf outing, or even golf lessons, please let us know. We can make it happen! For our upcoming weekend getaways, there is still time to sign up for our ever popular Lake Jovita weekend the end of August, Jekyll Island in September, and The Florida Cup at Mission Inn. ~Carolyn Aldorfer Reminder From Your Board ASGA wants our members to know that we take the privacy of our membership rosters seriously. ASGA National organization has a longstanding policy that our membership roster is for ASGA club use only and shall not be used for private or commercial solicitations. Our Orlando Communications Chairperson, Linda Marcet, is responsible for clearing and sending local members any communications regarding Orlando club activities. Our National office is responsible for sending any National news. If you wish to contact a member from another Chapter, we cannot and will not give that information out, nor should you. You would need to contact the Chapter or National office and have them contact the person; that person would contact you if they desire. If you are receiving any emails that did not come from either of the above sources regarding solicitation to contribute to a person s personal cause or participate or join in an organization or event, please advise our Communication Chairperson, Linda Marcet, so the matter can be addressed. These notices are deemed inappropriate and will be reported. Thank you for respecting this policy and your own private information. ~Linda Marcet Social Chair Our Nine and Dine at the West Orange Country Club was a big success (see photos in this newsletter) and if you weren t there, we are sorry we missed you! I am eager to hear from you with ideas for other social outings, so please share your thoughts. Our next planned social event will be from August 25-27 at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club, so contact Linda Marcet (ljmarcet@ gmail.com) to sign up before you miss out. ~Virginia Borchert Membership Chair It's been a fun, albeit hot summer of golf so far. I have found the ice towel invaluable during these months and highly recommend it. We have FOUR new members to welcome this month: Barbara McGinnis, Mary Williams, Deborah Scroggins and Patricia Haederle! Please be sure and introduce yourself to them at the next outing. Thanks to Virginia Borchert for renewing her membership! The following memberships are due the end of July: Bev Mundt, Jim Tautges, Jack Edwards, Carroll Hagood and Charlotte Dutton. We have some very fun weekend trips coming up so please send in those renewals. If you know anyone who would like to join, please let us know. I'm posting all our events on Meetup so please check it out and sign up. ~Pam Reese Upcoming Multi-Chapter Events (see SinglesGolf.com/events) Albany's Coopertown, NY Golf Weekend -September 22-24, 2017. So let s take a look at the month of August! Before we look forward, however, I do want to mention our Nine and Dine that was held at the beautiful West Orange Country Club. The course is private and was in immaculate condition. Virginia Borchert, our ASGA Social Chair, arranged for us to play there and what a great time we had! Though we teed off at 4:30, there were cool breezes and no rain! A great time was had by the dozen golfers that came out! Even better news, we will go back to that course in September! On to August! We have two rounds scheduled for the early part of August and then an overnight travel date at the end of the month. On Saturday, August 5, we travel back to Rio Pinar Country Club. The course is going through a management change with Integrity Golf closing down but Pete assures me the course is in great shape. Check your Evite for details but the price is right and lunch has been tossed in! We skip a week and on the 19th travel back to Royal St. Cloud Golf Links for a $26.00 golf outing. Look for the Evite on that soon. To cap off the month of August we travel back to Lake Jovita (August 25-27)! We have scheduled three rounds of golf, two nights in a luxurious villa, a Saturday dinner and Sunday brunch and lots of surprises for a very reasonable price. For those of you who went with us last year you know the great time you had at our Happy hour! We currently have 32 golfers signed up with room for another 8-12. If you are interested, please contact Linda Marcet or myself quickly as the deadline is approaching. A flyer for Jekyll Island has been sent out! Dates for Jekyll Island are September 22 thru 24. Spaces are filling up fast so don t wait. Reminder, the Florida Cup is coming up in October, contact Steve Hall, our Team Captain, if you are interested in playing. Please, contact me with golfing suggestions. I need your input!
