The 2018 Geza Farkas Achievement Award Geza was born on Oct. 28, 1932 in Hungary. He was a member of the Hungarian Olympic Gymnastics team in 1952 and 1956, winning a bronze team medal in the 1956 games. He defected to the United States at the end of the 1956 Olympics. He settled at Kent State University as a gymnastics coach, moved to Jamestown, NY in 1960 and lived here until his death, March 29, 2002. He shared his knowledge and love of gymnastics with everyone. In 2004, we began giving an award in Geza s memory to a gymnast who has overcome circumstances that would deter most gymnasts from continuing in the sport. If you have a gymnast that you believe deserves recognition for overcoming the odds, please nominate her. Write legibly or type a short description on a separate sheet of paper of the situation that can be shared at the meet. Our committee will select the best story and the award will be given at the Lucky Stars Awards ceremony the receiving gymnast is in.
