Extra Supplies It is helpful to bring extra lyres and screws, as well as reeds or other items that may break or get lost. Spending Money/Change You should plan to bring any spending money you want for vending machines, pizza, concessions, etc. Change for vending machines is difficult, so bring ones and change if you would like to use those. Grand Lodge Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Nebraska 301 N. Cotner Boulevard Lincoln, Nebraska 68505-2315 (800) 558-8029 (402) 475-4640 Fax (402) 475-4736 www.glne.org May 2017 Masonic All-Star Band Participant: It is a pleasure to welcome you to the 23rd Annual Masonic All-Star Band Clinic! We are very pleased that you will be joining us for what will be an entertaining and educational experience. The band directors are Mr. Brad Weber (retired Band Director from Wayne High School and Instructor of Percussion at Wayne State College), Mr. Dan Sodomka (Band Director, Aurora High School), and Dr. Dave Bohnert (Director of Bands, Wayne State College) as the co-directors of this year s band. The success of the band relies upon each and every member to come to camp prepared and ready to work. It is very important that you carefully look at and practice the music before camp so we can be as effective and efficient as possible in our preparations for the parade and half-time performance. With over 280 students registered for camp who have never played together before, we have a lot to get done in a very short amount of practice time. If you are in the trumpet, trombone, alto sax or clarinet section, please learn the part with which you feel most comfortable. We will decide part assignments at camp, therefore the more familiar you are with the music, the better your chances are of getting the part that you wish. Percussion players also need to be familiar with parts before arriving so we waste no time in rehearsal. Percussion players, the Nebraska Masonic Band Cadence is available to listen to on our web site on the Masonic Band page of www.glne.org. Again, ALL of us need to be prepared for this camp to continue to be successful. Along with the staff mentioned above, there will be a large number of support staff. These adults will spend a great deal of time making sure you are safe and taken care of at all times. Many of these wonderful people have given up their summer vacation time to be with you because they are committed to you and what you are doing for the children and the Shrine Hospitals. It is our hope that you will share with them all of your best behavior throughout the week and remember to thank them for all that they do. We will, of course, be practicing outside, so please remember to bring your sunscreen, good tennis shoes (no hard toes, combat boots, flip flops, sandals or any other footwear will be permitted), and a hat if you choose. These items are for your protection against the elements. It can also be quite chilly at times during camp, so it is wise to bring sweatshirts and/or jackets and pants just in case. In closing, we would like to congratulate each of you on your selection into the 2017 Masonic All-Star Band, and hope you are looking forward to working hard and having a great time we are. Sincerely, Brad Weber Dan Sodomka Dave Bohnert
