SAVE THE DATE! MONDAY, MAY 24, 2010 LA JOLLA COUNTRY CLUB www.kpbs.org/golf KPBS is a public service of San Diego State University.
2010 is an exciting year for KPBS. We are thrilled to be celebrating our 50th Anniversary and want you to be a part of it. We wouldn t be here without the generous support of our members. 50 years ago we started as a public radio station for only a few hours a day, 5 days a week. Today, KPBS has established itself as a trusted educational resource for life-long learning. And KPBS-TV is a safe-haven for families featuring the most trusted and well-researched children s programs on television. Since 1960, KPBS has been a community driven public media organization and we look forward to continuing that tradition for 50 more years. In celebration of KPBS original debut in 1960, as well as the creation of our TV station in 1967, the 50th Anniversary celebration will center around a 60 s theme. The ideals that fueled the 60 s peace, love, freedom, civil rights, equality, and hope are the same ideals that helped shape KPBS and the public broadcasting system as a whole. These are the same values that live on today at KPBS education, diversity, life-long learning, celebration of culture and the world we live in. And so, as part of KPBS 50th Anniversary Celebration, we are pleased to partner with CHARITABLE AUTO RESOURCES for the Seventh Annual KPBS/CARS Celebrity Golf Classic. The event will be held at the La Jolla Country Club on Monday, May, 24, 2010. Players will have the opportunity to golf alongside sports figures, television personalities, and golf pros while competing to win fabulous prizes. Following tournament play, guests will enjoy a 60s themed poolside reception, awards presentation, silent and live auction. KPBS annual Celebrity Golf Classic has become the signature fundraising event for KPBS television and radio. Since its inception in 2003, the tournament has brought in more than $500,000. Proceeds from the event help support quality children s programs airing on KPBS-TV. Thanks to the golf tournament sponsors and participants, KPBS continues to provide superb educational, cultural and entertainment programming to nearly a million people each month.
