Dockside These are the Minutes of PMPBA Club meeting of March 10, 2018 at the Tigard Church of God meeting room with 11 members present. The Commodore, Dallas Shoun, called the meeting to order at 10:00 am. The Secretary, Duane Anderson gave the Secretary s report and made a motion that the minutes of the last meeting, (Feb 2018), as reported in the last Newsletter be accepted as true and correct. The minutes were accepted. The Treasurer, Terry Hinrich gave the Treasurer s report. A motion was made to accept the report as true and correct. The motion was carried unanimously. Cindy Hinrich is having the large calendars made up showing all the Club s events on the appropriate date along with a picture of some member s ships. You will be able to buy calendars from Cindy at a cost of $2 per calendar. Bob Muller gave his report on Memorial Day event planning. He emphasized the need to get flyers out to the hobby shops as it is good advertising for the event along with it is good advertising for the hobby shops, themselves. Packets of flyers and events cards were assigned to specific hobby shops and handed out to those who will be delivering them. Bob asked the club secretary to contact Paul Williams, up in Seattle, WA to see if he is willing to hand out flyers there at the Seattle Club. Ken Valk brought his Springer and showed it off as a special project he was involved in. He was told that he should name his Springer a good strong manly name.so he named it Petunia. Duane Anderson showed his refurbished USS Reasoner (DE-1063). It was originally built by one who had served aboard Reasoner as part of the crew, the late Mike Kaiser. Duane did a complete overhaul of the 4 ½ feet Destroyer Escort repairing areas that needed it and a complete repainting of hull and superstructure including sanding the hull prior to painting The meeting was adjourned at 11:48 am. Commodore s Corner By Dallas Shoun, PMPBA Commodore It is a sad day when your prime body of water to float and run the ships / boats in has no water. This month the Tualatin Parks and Rec department decided to empty the lake again (it was done just two years ago) to clean and pick up sunken ships / boats. Here is a picture of the lake. But, as Duane has reported to you in email, the lake is now back, cleaned, boats rescued, and refilled with about 5 million gallons of water. I just wanted to tell you all this and to let you all know that I am grateful for all of your efforts, hard work, and willingness to plan out events and see them through and I enjoy working with you all. Keep up the good work and make all of our 2018 events go off without any hitches or mishaps. Dallas. Portland Oregon Model Power Boat Association Page 3

Please excuse the fingers in my view finder but notice the lack of water in the area just off the businesses and condo s next to where we launch our boating expeditions. This was done during March 2018, just two years after the last cleaning they did. Kind of a good thing since I also recovered my Springer Tug that went down with all hands (Minions). PMPBA s Website -- WWW.PMPBA.ORG Visit the showcase part of the website to see pictures of other model boats. Recent Club newsletter can be found on the Club website. There is a link to the Club s Facebook page. Our thanks go to Web Master Neal Paddison. Be sure to visit the PMPBA s Facebook site. Members are adding comments and pictures about our Club meetings, floats, boat building, and special events. Please contact Bill Agranoff for more information. New to RC boating? 1. Overview of RC Boat Electronics -- Mr. Dave Milbourn wrote an article called But I Don t Understand Electronics! for Model Boats magazine in 2013. There is a lot packed into this article and may require more than one reading to allow it to sink in. The article is free to view at website: www.modelboats.co.uk/news/article/but-i-don-t-understand-electronics/18054 2. Ever wonder how they built model boats back in the 50 s? -- Then you should visit this website. It brings back memories from being a kid building these kit boats with many pictures and construction descriptions. The Keil Kraft company sold the EeZeBilt boat Kits. http://eezebilt.tk/index.html If you have a favorite website, let us know and we will share it with others in this publication. 2018 Club Officers Commodore - Dallas Shoun Vice Commodore - Tom Winslow Secretary - Duane Anderson Treasurer - Terry Hinrich PMPBA Website Web Master -- Neal Paddison Facebook Facebook Master -- Bill Agranoff Newsletter Editor -- Duane Anderson Portland Oregon Model Power Boat Association Page 6
